"Crime, Criminal Justice & Religion: A Critical Appraisal seeks to bridge a gap in the examination of crime and criminal justice by taking both a historical and contemporary lens to explore the influence of religion. Offering unique perspectives that consider the impact on modern day policy and practice, the book scrutinizes a range of issues such as abortion, hate crime and desistance as well as reflecting upon the influence religion can have on criminal justice professions. The book acts to renew the importance of, and recognise, the influence and impact religion has in terms of how we view and ultimately address crime and deliver criminal justice. One of the first books to cover the area of crime, criminal justice and religion, the book is split into three parts, with part 1 - Contextualising Crime, Criminal Justice & Religion providing an introduction to crime, criminal justice & religion and reflections on the role religion has had, and continues to have, in how crime is understood and how we respond to it. Part 2 - Appraisal of Institutions & Professional Practice considers the issue of religion through institutions and professions of criminal justice, such as the police and legal profession, while part 3 - Appraisal of Contemporary Issues explores a range of crime and criminal justice issues in on which religion has impacted, such as the death penalty and terrorism. Crime, Criminal Justice & Religion will be of primary interest to academics, researchers and students in criminology, law, sociology, psychology, social policy and related HASS disciplines. It will also be of interest to theologians, both as scholars and practitioners. The book is a body of work that will appeal at an international level and will also be a key resource for a range of practitioners across the globe working on issues concerning crime and criminal justice"--

"Dancing Across Borders presents formal and informal settings of dance education where initiatives in different countries transcend borders: cultural and national borders; subject borders; professional borders and socio-economic borders. It includes chapters featuring different theoretical perspectives on dance and cultural diversity, alongside case narratives that show these perspectives in a specific cultural setting. In this way, each section charts the processes, change, and transformation in the lives of young people through dance. Key themes include how student learning is enhanced by cultural diversity, experiential teaching and learning involving social, cross-cultural and personal dimensions. This conceptually aligns with the current UNESCO protocols that accent empathy, creativity, cooperation, collaboration alongside skills and knowledge -based learning in an endeavour to create civic mindedness and a more harmonious world. This volume is an invaluable resource for teachers, policy makers, artists and scholars interested in pedagogy, choreography, community dance practice, social and cultural studies, aesthetics, and inter-disciplinary arts. By understanding the impact of these cross-border collaborative initiatives, readers can better understand, promote and create new ways of thinking and working in the field of dance education for the benefit of new generations"--
; This article proposes to address the performative capacity of certain current artistic and design practices that have an impact on social contexts with the aim of affecting and influencing the lifestyles and habits of everyday life. In the case of art, it could be said that these initiatives have antecedents such as the contemporary tradition of relational aesthetics and contextual art, while in design they come from an advanced vision of the design of systems and services. In both cases, in this research we are interested in the projects involved in processes of social change that aim to provide possible ways of transition to sustainable lifestyles. For the same reason, they are productions that encompass social vision, ethics, politics and aesthetics.
; The article deals with the theory of gender performativity by J. Butler in respect to gender leadership. The interpretation of this phenomenon offered by Guy Debord shows the results and stereotypes aimed at undermining the female potential of leadership. Gender inequality is particularly striking in the areas of business, management, and security and militarily services. Despite the fact that many media workers are women, most of them are against the ideas of equality, cooperation and integration. These and other problems are expressed by different viewpoints by both academics and prominent politicians. They stress that women's access to key positions in companies, the management hierarchy, and the government of the country should be changed. Nevertheless, many questions remain unanswered, like «who is the 'real' democratic leader?»; «what characteristics do women leaders distinguish?»; «why is neither the neoliberal capitalist nor liberal social ideal adequate but functioning nowhere?» During the time of Ukrainian independence, these issues have not been resolved yet.At the same time, the comparison of the share of women in the total share of employers in different countries of the world shows that their share is increasing (for example, in Ukraine, this share is 31—40%). We conducted a study on the effectiveness of women's labor in different countries. The figures are based on the share of female workers in the total structure of workers and the income generated by one woman on average. In the context of, for example, the Ukrainian economy, these indicators have declined substantially in 2008—2018, against the backdrop of a global upward trend in these indicators. Compared to Singapore, the gap between the revenue index increased by 33.4% in 2008—2018. Of all the countries cited, the worst income growth results are only in Ukraine. At the same time, the labor market of Ukraine has the following characteristics: employment of women in managerial positions in 2017 is 41.1%; the employment rate of middle and upper management women is 42.4% in 2016; the share of women in the total number of employers in 1991 was 33.1%, and in 2018 — 36.92%. Thus, gender leadership in the media sphere in Ukraine shows discrimination against women and demonstrates the impossibility of productive and effective work as a manager. However, gradually these issues will, in the context of the proposed solution, be comprehensive and will change the relationships within such companies for the better.

; Implementing a model of quality management whether ISO 9001 or NTCGP 1000, develops the institutional capacity to understand and respond consistently to the expectations of an interested party such as customers, very important for any organization. It raises the possibility that these capabilities can be used to manage an organization's relationships with its other interested parties, such as those arising in the Guide to Social Responsibility GTC 180, under a perspective which views social responsibility as an extended frontier of quality management. This research explores the possibilities for linking the quality management system implemented in Colombian municipalities of Valle del Cauca under the NTCGP 1000 model and the Colombian GTP 180 model for social responsibility, based on skills developed in the implementation of the quality management system. We used the descriptive research method of determining the principles, elements, and practices that may contribute to the articulation and can facilitate the implementation of social responsibility in the municipalities, based on the identification of the elements of convergence, divergence and complementarities in the approaches of these two standards. We determined the perception of the internal and external population of the municipalities included in the study, for information on how the quality management system operates and on their knowledge of various aspects of social responsibility. Finally we developed a methodology for the implementation of social responsibility based on the GCT 180 guide in municipalities that have implemented a quality management system based on NTCGP 1000.
AbstractAim: This exploratory study examined the relationships among different types of social support accessed by patients with traumatic spinal cord injury (SCI). Method: Using a cross-sectional study design, 20 SCI patients of workforce age discharged from the Royal Talbot Rehabilitation Hospital, Melbourne, Australia during 2007 were assessed on a range of demographic, injury and social support variables. Results: Higher quality interactions (i.e., actual social support) were significantly associated with greater social integration (i.e., structural social support) and higher perceived social support. However, community integration and social integration, which measure different aspects of structural social support, were essentially unrelated. Conclusions: Actual social support influences perceived social support and social integration. Theoretically, these results suggest that actual social support influences the two main opposing models that explain the relationship between social support and wellbeing: the stress-buffering model (for perceived social support) and the main-effects model (for structural social support). From a research perspective, the use of well-defined types of social support, and psychometrically sound measures, is critical for assessing the influence of social support on rehabilitation outcomes. To effectively match rehabilitation efforts with SCI survivors' needs, future research should examine which types of social support best predict particular rehabilitation outcomes.
Mestrado em Engenharia de Computadores e Telemática ; Social Networks are, without doubt, one of the fastest growing trends on the Internet nowadays and the amount of information generated is huge. On the other hand, search engines such as Google, Yahoo and Bing became global interfaces for information search. From an enterprise point of view, this phenomenon has lead to changes in strategies to deal with information representation, indexing and searching. Engines like Lucene, Nutch, Solr, Sphinx, ElasticSearch, among others, were born and became important platforms of software engineering. The amount of information available on the Internet on a daily basis, can be utterly valuable for multiple goals - social, scientific, politic, economic. For instance, in the case of health related subjects, institutions keep information on patients such as pathologies, conditions, treatments, exam results, pathways, etc. Also, governmental institutions divulge more and more information on health subjects in the most varied aspects. On the other hand, health research is one of the most active areas, resulting on network publishing of new results. Adding to the aforementioned, the way people share information on their health status can be valuable to detect pandemics and also to identify clinical conditions and their causes. In this project we proposed to develop a system capable of processing information retrieved from social networks, identifying symptoms, disorders and drugs. From an engineering point of view, the process consisted in accessing varied data sources to obtain information, create dictionaries and models of natural language processing to identify text patterns and associations between concepts. In the future, these associations can be valuable, for instance, to detect adverse reaction to drugs.

The contemporary black church in the US is a product of the social movements of the 1960s. Alongside the rapid growth of megachurches, there are several important features shaping the church of the 21st century: (1) a transformation of consciousness that combines black consciousness with Christian ethics; (2) a rapid expansion of the black middle class & the geographic & social relocation of the new middle class; (3) the professionalization of a highly literate laity in terms of the quality of services it demands & the professionalized voluntarism it offers; & (4) changing gender relations evidenced by a continued dependence on women's work & growing numbers of women in ministry, along with a focus on the social problems of black males, especially among the urban poor. The tradition of adaptation to change remains strong as these new features are utilized to combine the work of traditional religion with efforts to pursue social justice & economic equity. 76 References. This master's thesis presents the concept of social partnership, the origins of its appearance and its development. With the reference to the case law, legislation in force and academic literature, principles regulating the relations of social partnership are discussed as well as their influence on work relations. Moreover, levels and forms of social partnership are presented. This final paper provides a consistent evolution of social partnership and its development in the European Union. By the analysis the European Union law, the status and the criteria of representativeness of European social partners, their functions and a gradual increase of impact on the legislative and social and economic policy in the European Union is discussed. Also, this paper introduces with the authorities responsible for the European social dialogue. A separate section of this thesis deals with the preconditions for the emergence and development of social dialogue in Lithuania, the legal status and role of social partners and dominant forms and levels of social partnership. Greater attention is paid to the problematic aspects of representation of workers and employers, the activities of the Tripartite Council and the promotion of social dialogue instruments. With the reference to the aspects of social partnership discussed in this paper and considering the current situation, some perspectives and suggestions for social dialogue in the European Union and Lithuania are given.
