Programa Institucional de Maestría en Historia ; The past of the towns natives of what today calls Mesoamérica,1 has been object of countless and connoted investigators' study since Europe dared to cross the ocean Atlantic and it placed its feet envelopes these lands. From then on humanist friars, soldiers put historians, adventurous and indigenous westernized columnists tried to consign what had happened in the military conquest, they not only ventured also among the fogs of the indigenous past rescuing vestiges that you/they threatened to disappear before the broadside of the Spanish imperialism and the demonización of that old way of life. This demonización .por all well-known - it took to the destruction a great part of the cultural patrimony of these towns: architecture, oral memory, written memory, religion. however, thanks to the diverse interests of the observers and participants of those dramatic events, it leaves of this culture it could be rescued and consigned in religious chronicles, letters of trips, official correspondence, private correspondence and codexes elaborated to the old usage. Faithfuler some that other, these documents consigned a pale reflection of what was Mesoamérica before the invasion. ; El pasado de los pueblos originarios de lo que hoy llamamos Mesoamérica,1 ha sido objeto de estudio de innumerables y connotados investigadores desde que Europa osó cruzar el océano Atlántico y colocó sus pies sobres estas tierras. Desde entonces frailes humanistas, soldados metidos a historiadores, aventureros y cronistas indígenas occidentalizados intentaron consignar no sólo lo que había sucedido en la conquista militar, también se aventuraron entre las nieblas del pasado indígena rescatando vestigios que amenazaban con desaparecer ante la andanada del imperialismo español y la demonización de aquél modo de vida antiguo.
