Introduction aux problèmes de la démographie de la période 1500-1670

Abstract
For the period 1500-1650, the parish records, in spite of gaps in information, do allow for the application of the Fleury-Henry method. The results are valuable, although incomplete, especially for the mortality study. It is therefore necessary to seek out auxillary sources of information (notarial, fiscal, légal documents, etc.) and establish a name file to throw light on the demographic research and to correct for the high degree of name variation.
As far as structures are concerned, three éléments become apparent : the relatively precocious age for first marriages, the high mortality rate and frequency of multiple remarriages.
