Disasters and What to Do about Them
In: Forced migration review, Heft 31, S. 35-36
Abstract
Examines the increased risks of disasters resulting from extreme weather events & the critical need for governments to strengthen their efforts to reduce these risks & adapt to climate change. Special attention is given to the internationally agreed Hyogo Framework for Action that has identified five priorities for action based on past successes & failures in reducing disaster risks. It is suggested that disaster risks can be substantially reduced globally if communities use the Hyogo Framework to develop their own strategies & programs. Adapted from the source document.
