; The article analyzes the examples of good practice in the field of education for democratic citizenship in Europe. The social and political life of Europeans is increasingly complex. Intensive political changes shape specific social circumstances and the old models of behavior are no longer adequate. Consequently, it is necessary to acquire new knowledge in order to understand new political processes and take active part in them. In this context, the adult education assumes broader sense and meaning. A need for new fields of education arises, such as education for democratic citizenship which has as its goal to contribute to developing of critical thinking and citizen responsibility among adults and to encourage them to participate in solving of the problems in their community and broader environment.

Based on the survey data, the authors define the attitude of the Ukrainian population to the following components of modern Ukraine's social and political processes as the state's foreign policy; restriction of certain groups of citizens in the right to vote; an ecological situation in macro-regions of residence; and vaccination. The paper provides analysis of Ukrainians' assessment of the political situation in the country and the level of tension in society. Potential behavioural reactions of Ukrainian citizens to dissatisfaction with socio-political processes in the country have been studied. The authors demonstrate data on the level of trust of Ukrainians at the end of 2021 to the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, and the President of Ukraine V. Zelenskiy, the National Bank of Ukraine, political parties, national media, and well-known Ukrainian politicians.
This study examines an episode in the social history of state planning by focusing on the 1951 Peronist letter writing campaign. Perón's request for popular suggestions to the Second Five-Year Plan was met with enthusiasm from men and women across Argentina. As with other cases of state planning in the postwar world, the Peronist model of planned progress inspired many popular sector individuals and organisations, in part by offering them an intimate mode of political participation within an increasingly restrictive order. This appeal cannot be attributed to Peronist mass politics alone; rather, the regime's ideal of macro-level national planning also reinforced pre-existing practices of social activism in Argentine local communities.
The study identifies acculturative challenges and opportunities experienced by Arab-speaking MENA refugees in the United States. The research team conducted 24 semi-structured interviews with refugee parents (11 fathers and 13 mothers) in Arabic. The findings reveal two main categories: (a) acculturative challenges and (b) opportunities and hopes for a better future in the United States. Refugees described several acculturative challenges, including the language barrier, unrealized mental health issues, intimate partner violence (IPV), and the added struggle of COVID-19. Refugees faced several challenges, but their stressors were mitigated by their hope for a better future for their children. Findings suggest practitioners must introduce early interventions targeted at family conflict resolution in Arabic. Future research should explore culturally acceptable mental health interventions and gender-specific resources for IPV.
This article explores the potential of labor education in the context of significant challenges: It examines a number of historical and contemporary models and suggests building on those models to develop a new framework for the field of labor education that is more comprehensive and conceptually different from the one generally employed. The author argues for a broader definition of Labor Studies (one that is community oriented), envisions a wider role for labor educators (one that includes engagement with workforce development initiatives), and calls for labor colleges or labor schools to be established with public funding both nationally and locally.
PurposeTo examine objective measures of economic job quality for a broad sample of workers in the US spectator sports industry and compare job quality in spectator sports to other industries.Design/methodology/approachLogistic and linear regressions are performed on American Community Survey (ACS) data collected from 2015 to 2019. Earnings and employer provision of health insurance are the outcomes.FindingsEarnings and employer-provided health insurance are lower in the spectator sports industry than in other industries after controlling for relevant factors. Differences are partly explained by the occupational composition of the industry and the higher incidence of part-time work. Many but not all occupational groups have lower earnings and less employer-provided health insurance in sports.Research limitations/implicationsACS data only reports one job, so the results likely underestimate the prevalence of part-time work in the US spectator sports industry. The study finds support for a micro-class occupational composition effect and a pulsating organization effect. Some support is also found for a sports industry compensating wage differential, but the effect is not industry wide, counter to some depictions.Originality/valueThis is the first study to examine objective, economic measures of job quality across all occupational sub-groups in the sports industry. This is the first study to propose theoretical explanations for poor economic job quality in sport.
Human Rights international social situation has a "double" life: the real and the imaginary. All around the world, although all statistics and problems known and denounced, Human Rights are being violated, there are serious and dangerous situations to the Humanity, affecting millions of human beings beside the "images"/information published. The Education for Human Rights is the change key but this is a complex process that should be object of an intervention through the International, Regional and National authorities (governmental and non-governmental Institutions and Organizations), as well as, by everyone in their capacities, and, their social, professional and citizenship responsibility. Nowadays the World have an enormous and different legal instruments, laws and documents, but there are too many people without access to their Rights, living supported by the information manipulated with consequences that History showed as worried consequences for societies and generations. As the study case presents, Portugal is a great example of the rhetoric manipulation by the political power, developed by an authoritarian regime, with unreal images generated social isolation and violence. However, despite the democracy and four decades, the Portuguese need to develop their knowledge to face the Human Rights violations and know to prevent other problems. There is still an imaginary world completely different from realities we need to change to protect and promote the Human Rights for everyone.
