Abstract: Ideology has a twofold sense in advertising. One is general and aims to standardize the consumers' needs and traits by globalized means to persuade them to buy the products. The other is specific whereby the advertisement campaigns can introduce, reinforce and /or challenge some ideological values as of politics, religion, race and gender. To sell globally, advertisements are translated into other languages. This requires adjusting the ideological values to the Target Language (TL) audience. When the ideological dimension of the TL is given priority, transcreation, instead of translation per se, becomes the best choice. Unlike the traditional translator who is expected to be faithful to the Source Language (SL), the transcreator should always maintain proximity to the TL ideology so as to avoid unwanted sensitivities of the TL audience and should adopt creative ideas in order to achieve resonance in the TL. The present paper aims to investigate the implications of advertising ideology for transcreation into Arabic. The global advertisement campaigners seem to be aware that Arabic and Islam represent a unified ideology represented in values of national identity, politics and gender. Most transcreation of these campaigns have achieved both proximity to the TL audience and creativity of ideas that do not clash with the ideological status quo in the Arab World. But despite the laudable reputation of transcreation nowadays in the Translation Studies literature as the best strategy of advertisement translation, it looks like it cannot escape the twofold sense of ideology in those texts. While it does embrace diversity of ideological values of SL and TL, an advertisement campaign transcreation is unable to outbalance the general and more solid ideology of standardizing the consumers' needs and motives.

In 1588 and again in 1595 a number of texts, the so-called 'books of lead' (Los libros plúmbeos), were discovered at Granada which seemingly threw a more or less Islamic light on the early history of Christianity in general and on the history and role of Spain in particular. From the sources it might be safely inferred that these events in Andalusia served as a backdrop for another spectacular forgery of Arabic documents: after 1783 the Maltese abate Giuseppe Vella`s 'translations' of Arabic sources of the history of Sicily were so highly acclaimed that they threatened to change many a cherished historical notion. This paper aims to throw fresh light on events which provided the backdrop for Vella`s activities and some of their consequences. ; En 1588 y 1595 se descubren en Granada un número de textos, llamados Los libros plúmbeos, que demostraban aparentemente una contribución más o menos islámica en la temprana historia de la cristiandad en general y de la historia de España en particular. Basándonos en las fuentes con las que contamos se puede inferir claramente que los acontecimientos de Granada sirvieron como base a la posterior creación de nuevas falsificaciones en árabe. Después de 1783, las traducciones basadas en fuentes árabes sobre la historia de Sicilia que hizo el abad Vella fueron tan aclamadas que amenazaron con cambiar muchas de las nociones históricas establecidas. La finalidad de este artículo es arrojar una nueva luz sobre los acontecimientos que proporcionaron a Vella la base de sus actividades y algunas de sus consecuencias.

Building bridges of understanding is a sine qua non condition to strengthen fraternity between countries in the Mediterranean area, and translation practice is a privileged way for cultural exchange in this geographic zone. We aim to expose the role of translation as an instrument for intercultural development between Spain and Morocco. Both countries' geographic location on the Mediterranean is a factor leveraging common interests. In this geographic, political and social context we estimate Spanish-Arabic and Arabic-Spanish translation turns to be critical both for intercultural Spanish-Moroccan communication and to create mutual positive perceptions and removing topics common in communication. Arabic learning in Spain and Spanish learning in Morocco is, therefore, a critical challenge to develop intercultural competence ; La construcción de puentes de entendimiento es imprescindible para fortalecer la fraternidad entre los países del área mediterránea y la práctica de la traducción es una privilegiada vía de intercambio cultural en esta zona geográfica. El objetivo aquí es plantear qué papel desempeña la traducción como instrumento de desarrollo intercultural entre España y Marruecos. La ubicación de ambos países en el Mediterráneo es un factor que potencia intereses comunes. En este contexto geográfico, político y social estimamos que la traducción español-árabe y árabe-español resulta fundamental tanto para la comunicación intercultural hispano-marroquí como para establecer percepciones positivas mutuas y la supresión de tópicos que circulan en la comunicación. El aprendizaje de árabe en España y del español en Marruecos es, por ello, un reto fundamental para el desarrollo de la competencia intercultural. ; La construction des ponts d'entendement est une condition nécessaire pour raffermir la fraternité entre les pays de la région méditerranée, et la pratique de la traduction est une voie privilégiée pour l'échange culturel à cette région géographique. Le but ici est de poser le rôle de la traduction comme un instrument de développement culturel entre l'Espagne et le Maroc. La situation géographique de ces pays sur la Méditerranée est une moteur pour profiter des intérêts communs. Dans cet contexte géographique, politique et social, nous croyons que la traduction espagnol-arabe et arabe-espagnol devient fondamental pour la communication interculturelle espagnol-marocain et aussi pour établir des perceptions positives mutuelles et supprimer des lieux communs dans la communication. The book Diálogos españoles-árabes ó guía de la conversación mogharbi (Spanish-Arabic Dialogs or Moroccan Conversation Guide) was written in 1860 by Pedro María del Castillo y Olivas. Its study reflects that the Arabic used was Algerian and a plagiarism of the book Guide written by Delaporte, in spite of its aim to be addressed to the Spanish Military that occupied Tetouan after the Spanish- Moroccan war. Its Edition is also a reflect of the Africanism Spirit that Spain lived during the 19th. ; La obra Diálogos españoles-árabes ó guía de la conversación mogharbi fue escrita en 1860 por Pedro María del Castillo y Olivas. Del análisis de la misma se desprende que el árabe en el que fue escrita es argelino y que se trata de un plagio de la obra de Delaporte, Guide, a pesar de estar dirigida a los militares españoles que ocuparon Tetuán tras la guerra hispano-marroquí. Su edición es reflejo del espíritu africanista que hubo en España durante el siglo XIX.

La definición y traducción de la terminología militar, y en particular de las denominaciones de las categorías y empleos militares, es una cuestión que está lejos de estar resuelta. Este artículo investiga algunos de los problemas lexicográficos de las categorías y empleos militares y propone algunas soluciones para el diccionario general bilingüe árabe-español y españolárabe sobre la base de las fuentes primarias del vocabulario en cuestión en ambos idiomas, tomando en consideración soluciones lexicográficas previas e incluyendo la consulta del diccionario monolingüe árabe. ; Defining and translating military terms, particularly the names of military categories and ranks, is a question that is far from being resolved. Presentamos en este trabajo una reflexión sobre la necesidad de tener en cuenta la lengua nativa o materna del alumno en la escuela. Para ello, proponemos que el programa hispano-marroquí de enseñanza de la Lengua Árabe y Cultura Marroquí (LACM) revise sus objetivos e incluya como lengua de enseñanza el árabe marroquí o el amazige (L1), y no el árabe literal (L2). La enseñanza del español (L2) debe de llevarse a cabo en una situación de bilingüismo aditivo y desde unos principios de democracia y no desde la soberanía monolingüe de la L2, ya sea el español, ya el árabe literal. ; We present in this work a reflection about the need of taking into account the native or mother language of the student in the school. For this reason, we propose that the Hispano-Moroccan learning Program of Arabic Language and Moroccan Culture (LACM) reviews its objectives and includes the Moroccan Arabic or the Amazigh (L1) as language of learning instead of the Standard Arabic (L2). The learning of Spanish (L2) has to be done in a situation of additive bilingualism and founded on democratic principles and not from the monolingual sovereignty of the L2, either the Spanish or the Standard Arabic.

[EN] This paper focuses on the description and analysis of three codices from Biblioteca Nacional in Madrid (Mss. 7887, 8432, and 8434) with the aim of redefining their origin, dating, authorship, and content. Connecting their production to the environment of the Sacromonte affair and identifying Pedro de Castro's hand allows to expand what was known so far about his attempts to learn Arabic and delve into the most controversial aspects of the Lead Books. The grammatical and religious contents, in addition to the copious marginal notes linked to the sources he used, provide valuable information on his selection of works. Grammatical materials such as al-Āŷurrūmiyya, of which different versions are preserved in these codices, were being published in Rome and Leiden and would be widely disseminated. The building up of his library, to which these codices must have belonged, runs in parallel to the construction of an orientalist knowledge in modern Europe. ; [ES] A través de la descripción y análisis de los códices 7887, 8432 y 8434 de la Biblioteca Nacional de España, en este artículo pretendemos redefinir su procedencia, datación, autoría y contenido. Establecer su confección en el entorno del asunto de los libros del Sacromonte e identificar la intervención de Pedro de Castro permite ampliar lo que hasta ahora se conocía acerca de sus intentos de aprender árabe y de profundizar en los aspectos más polémicos de los plomos. Tanto los contenidos gramaticales y religiosos como las abundantes anotaciones con referencia a las fuentes que utilizaba aportan valiosa información acerca de su selección de obras. Materiales gramaticales como la Āŷurrūmiyya, que en estos códices se recoge en diferentes versiones, estaban siendo editados en Roma y Leiden y alcanzarían una gran difusión. The relationship between the protagonist of the Middle East oral tradition, Scheherazade, and Western values, human rights, contribute to the reflection of the political configuration from femininity in the Arab world. Scheherazade and fundamental rights fracture the ideological barrier imposed by the image of "the West" in the East. Mernissi is the curator showing rigorously how Arab women face and subvert the macho values of Eastern society. Scheherazade and Mernissi teach women the need to fight for recognition. Thus, Scheherazade allows compatibility between the Oriental world and democracy. Nevertheless it requires real women, of flesh and blood, to realize dignity, freedom and equality in the Arab world. ; La relación de la protagonista más notable de la tradición oral de Oriente Medio, Sherezade, con los valores occidentales y los derechos humanos, contribuirá a la reflexión sobre la configuración política en el mundo árabe de la feminidad. This study analyses Spinoza's Tractatus theologico politicus from the point of view of the confrontation between revealed Scripture and philosophy, and links it with the history of this confrontation in Maimonides and the Arab philosophers, highlighting similarities and differences. The three key points of the analysis are the following: (1) Salvation through philosophy; (2) Salvation through religion; and (3) the guarantor of Salvation: political power. ; Se analiza en este trabajo el Tratado teológico-político de Spinoza desde el punto de vista de la confrontación de la Escritura revelada con la Filosofía y se pone en relación con los antecedentes de esta confrontación en Maimónides y en los filósofos árabes, destacándose las similitudes y diferencias entre ellos y estructurándose la exposición en torno a tres puntos: (1) Salvación por la Filosofía; (2) Salvación por la religión; (3) Garante de la salvación: el poder político.
