The purpose of the book is to serve as a handbook for measurement specialists as well as to serve as a textbook for students in classes on the Bayesian approach to modern test theory. The book will also serve as a guide to the authors` computer software implementations that will be made available via a website. This software supports the computation of the various models described in the book and can support readers in their own developmental work in IRT using advanced Bayesian techniques/models. The software implementations will be made available in the popular statistical packages Splus and R. The implemented new functions are built on Fortran code that is linked to the Splus and R environments. This approach leads to considerable reduction of computation time. TOC:Introduction to Bayesian response modeling.- Bayesian hierarchical response modeling.- Basic elements of Bayesian statistics.- Estimation of Bayesian item response models.- Assessment of Bayesian item response models.- Multilevel item response theory models.- Random item effects models.- Response time item response models.- Randomized item response models.
Identification and estimation of treatment effects is an important issue in many application fields, e.g. to evaluate the effectiveness of social programs, government or company policies, or medical interventions. The fundamental problem in treatment effects estimation is that each subject is observed either under treatment or control conditions and hence treatment effects have to be estimated from the outcomes of the treated and the untreated. To obtain unbiased treatment effects estimates from observational studies where subjects can select treatment based on their preferences and expectations it is essential to control for observed as well as unobserved confounding which results from self-selection into treatment. The Bayesian approach to treatment effects modelling relies on specifying regression models for selection into treatment, as well as the so called potential outcomes under both treatment and control condition. Selection endogeneity is taken into account in Bayesian treatment effects models by allowing for correlation between treatment selection and both potential outcomes. For outcomes that are observed longitudinally also longitudinal correlation of outcomes has to be taken into account to obtain unbiased estimates for the trajectories of treatment effects. A method for Bayesian estimation for two different modelling approaches is implemented, the switching regression approach and the shared factor approach, that have been proposed in literature, for estimations of dynamic treatment effects in the open source contributed R- package 'bite. ; submitted by Patrick Pfeiffer ; Universität Linz, Masterarbeit, 2019 ; (VLID)4587147
