Early childhood marks a time where word learning is accompanied by rapid growth in the cognitive processes that underlie self-modulated and goal-directed behavior (i.e., executive functions). Although there is empirical evidence to support the association between executive functioning and vocabulary in childhood, inconsistent findings have been reported regarding the extent to which early executive functioning abilities predict later vocabulary outcomes and vice versa. To clarify the nature of the longitudinal relation between these two processes and to examine what, if any, claims can be made about their interdependence, a critical review of the literature was conducted. Also addressed are the conceptual and/or methodological differences that exist across studies conducted on this topic that may be contributing to some of the discrepancies reported in the longitudinal literature. Finally, this review provides practical and empirically informed future directions to serve as a resource for early childhood researchers advancing this area of study.
; Each concept has a history. Conceptual history studies allow for rebuilding those moments of crisis where vocabulary which used to make sense to the world, becomes outdate. Therefore such vocabulary has to be updated regarding the transformations within the historical context. In this sense Reinhart Koselleck, one of the main exponents of conceptual history studies, asks about what is the nature of the time relationship between concepts and circumstances. Now at day 'energy security' as a concept has many meanings, most of them are deterministic ones, showing that there is no consensus about one single definition of energy security. Consequently, the aim of this article is to analyze the concept of energy security under the conceptual history approach to study its evolution regarding the changes at the international system level which caused the appearance of the concept itself and its modifications. Apart from that, this article could help to explain if the concept of energy security appeared bound to the public politics (energy policy) or there were the public politics which came from energy security. We try to go back along the constitution of the energy security notion since the International Relations discipline. ; Fil: Dussort, María Noel. Universidad Nacional de Rosario. Abstract In this essay, I aim to shore up the epistemological foundations of memory studies so that it can more productively fulfill its promise to understand the dynamics of shared meaning-making. I argue for theoretical and, hence, methodological, advancement toward a more precise vocabulary for describing the movement of meaning over time and space and between persons as they engage with resources and each other in order to fix and revise shared interpretations. Drawing on the conceptual vocabulary of narrative, I describe some of the central tenets of this "back to the phenomenon" approach to social memory.
The article concentrates on the conceptual analysis of new lexical items representing events in modern English and German vocabulary. The material of the research is event neologisms of English and German, expressed by nouns and gerunds. Those new lexical units were mostly retrieved from online sources. The main sources of the collected material are on websites of the dictionary publishing houses, blogs containing information about new lexical units, as well as special programmes aimed at collecting neologisms online, e. g. NeoCrawler, Wortwarte, and OWID. The article provides a model of new event categorisation in English and German languages at three levels: superordinate, basic, and subordinate ones. Each of the levels is structured by a particular frame within the categorisation model. The article provides a comparative analysis of frames underlying formation of new event vocabulary in English and German languages. As a result, the analysis reveals the main differences between frame structures.
The article offers an approach for tracking the knowledge and skills for the use of verbs that are deemed part of the basic vocabulary of students in the initial stage of education through language tasks. There are 5 types of tasks that will be conducted in the form of an online game in 4 variants. They are aimed at researching basic competencies in using selected verb meanings and knowledge of their compatibility with groups of arguments, in order to make generalizations about the semantic structure of verbs from the basic vocabulary set in children of a certain age group. The data that will be collected as a result of the tasks' completion will be used in further observations and experiments for the purposes of theoretical semantic description and typology of verb predicates belonging to the basic conceptual apparatus in Bulgarian.
Abstract This article discusses the ways of conceptualizing politics in parliamentary debates. When the politics-vocabulary is ubiquitous in them, which kind of speech act lies in emphasizing the political aspect? Focusing on thematized uses allows us to identify conceptual revisions in the politics-vocabulary in digitalized plenary debates of the German Bundestag from 1949 to 2017. My fourfold scheme for conceptualizing politics (polity, policy, politicization, politicking) provides the analytical apparatus. The units of analysis in this study are compound words around politics written as single words, a German language specialty. Their frequency has remarkably risen in the Bundestag debates, and the search engine can easily find them. This research interest allows me to speculate with changes in the understanding and appreciation of politics in postwar (West)Germany
Despite considerable efforts, the concept of the 'mercenary' remains ill-defined within the scholarly literature on non-state combatants. In common usage, 'mercenary' is intended to function as a descriptive category of combatant, denoting certain unique or transhistorical properties. Instead, however, it is a highly subjective, imprecise and politicized term. This article critically analyses historical, legal and philosophical definitions of 'mercenary', and asks whether it is worth retaining the term as an analytical category at all. In short, the answer is no. The article's exposition of the 'mercenary moniker' uncovers the statist political ethic that anchors different interpretations of the mercenary concept. It shows that conceptions of the mercenary are deeply rooted in a Westphalian political ethic of war and conflict that upholds the instrumentality of the state to notions of political community, morality and identity. Accordingly, it argues that 'mercenary' should be jettisoned from the academic conceptual vocabulary of non-state combatants, and proposes 'freelance militant' as an alternative. Properly contextualized, this alternative could make possible a conceptual vocabulary that is able to clearly distinguish between such freelance militants and other non-state combatants.

The purpose of this paper is to develop the fundamental basis of the art of "theatre of shock", as the art of the highest spiritual and emotional level, as well as to identify the characteristic features and directorial components that provide it.
The methodology. We applied the analytic-conceptual and empirical approaches to identify the most energy-intensive artistic means of creating a theatrical product and the most effective directorial tools for influencing the spiritual-emotional sphere of the viewer by creating the highest energy and philosophical and aesthetic level that can bring the audience to a state of shock.
The results. For the first time in art criticism, an analysis of the generalization and systematization of director's tools and ways was carried out, the creation of a "shock" for the creation of theatrical art. The concept proposed by the author crowns the triangle that, together with the art of "dissimulation theatre" and the art of "excitement theatre", is the technological trinity of theatrical art: dissimulation — excitement — shock. The study conducted by the author gives grounds to conclude that the creation of theatrical performances, belonging to the art of the highest spiritual and emotional level — to the art of "theatre of shock", is possible if such fundamental components as: sealed module of dramaturgy, "muscles" of play events, scenographic directing, metaphorical vocabulary, means of psychological theater and energy field of actors' "emission" are embodied in the stage space. The model of the "theater of shock" assumes complete domination over the emotions of the spectator, the deepest immersion in the whirlpool of dramatic events and bringing to a deep trance with a powerful energy field of emission.
The topicality. This paper contains such terms as "theater of shock", "theater of trance", "scenographic directing", "molecular directing" are introduced into scientific circulation.
The practical significance. Scientific development of ways, methods and means of creating the "theater of shock" as a kind of the most powerful energy and philosophical-typical level can be implemented in the educational process. Along with this presentation the concept of "theater of shock" can have its continuation in the theses of students with degrees in the field of art history, opens the prospect of updating the theatrical palette.
Spaces of Geographical Thought examines key ideas - like space and place - which inform the geographic imagination. The text: discusses the core conceptual vocabulary of human geography: agency: structure; state: society; culture: economy; space: place; black: white; man: woman; nature: culture; local: global; and time: space; explains the significance of these binaries in the constitution of geographic thought; and shows how many of these binaries have been interrogated and re-imagined in more recent geographical thinking

Abstract: This brief essay is just a pedagogical exercise in order to show the importance of the conceptual critic for the historical comprehension of law. The meaning of the word "legislación" and its reception in the Spanish juridical vocabulary is taken as an exemplificative case. Proceeding by the analyze of the three possible meanings of that word ("legislación" as joint of rules, as science, and as activity of producing rules) we try to show that the word and its meanings get relevance only in the context of deep political transformations of the European juridical culture which took place at the finals year of the XVIII century and the beginning of the XIX.Key words: legislation, law, codification, juridical culture, legal history.
Using an entirely new conceptual vocabulary through which to understand men's experiences and expectations at the dawn of the twenty-first century, this path-breaking volume focuses on fatherhood around the globe, including transformations in fathering, fatherhood, and family life. It includes new work by anthropologists, sociologists, and cultural geographers, working in settings from Peru to India to Vietnam. Each chapter suggests that men are responding to globalization as fathers in creative and unprecedented ways, not only in the West, but also in numerous global locations

This book delves into the conceptual changes produced by the Spanish constitutional debate held between 27 August and 9 December 1931. Taking place at the beginning of Spain's Second Republic, those parliamentary deliberations brought about significant novelties in the political vocabulary. Concepts such as democracy, sovereignty, reform, revolution, and freedom, among others, were re-signified.
This study investigates the conceptual contributions made by Spanish MPs in the course of the constitutional debate of 1931 by assuming, as a research approach, an interdisciplinary stance combining conceptual history, political theory, and parliamentary constitutional history. By doing so, it selects five determining issues: the pervasive discussion about two competing meanings of a democratic state; the rhetorical uses of reform and revolution; conceptual controversies about religious freedom; the disputed idea of property rights; and the functions of parliament and the president of the republic in a semi-presidential regime. The constitutional debate was largely inspired by interwar European constitutionalism which constituent representatives used to update the Spanish constitutional tradition.
With that goal in mind, this book is aimed at undergraduate and graduate students and scholars working in the fields of conceptual history, political philosophy, parliamentary history, European political history, and European constitutionalism.
