Slogans of unionism are examined. Much of the behavior of unions & their officials is inconsistent with their expressed sentiments & with some beliefs widely held by the general public. Unionists do not in fact support free enterprise or decentralized decision making; they also hinder economic growth by a variety of means, including restrictions of capital mobility; corruption & racketeering are integral, unavoidable features of unions with economic & political clout.
