Within the politics of the systematic subversion of subordinate through the logic of domination within the ontological divide African American women artists' music emerges as a resistance mechanism at subverting the culture/nature Cartesian dualism initiating a discourse of "rethink" of the dualism of "the centre" and "the margin," thwarting the myth of the "Otherness" in turn liberating the other, and implicitly all such "Other" groups through the celebration of the associative interconnectivity across these marginal groups. The chapter covers the literary oeuvre of significant rock and roll African American women artists, right from its inception during the period of the blues i.e. the 1920s in the work of Sister Rosetta Tharpe, in the 1950s in the music of LaVern Baker and Willie Mae "Big Mama" Thornton, and in the 1960s in that of Odetta Holmes.
À partir de thèses issues de l'anthropologie, de la psychologie, de la philosophie et de l'écologie politique, l'article se propose de penser l'articulation politique entre féminisme et écologie en mettant l'accent sur la dichotomie nature/culture. L'article explore les liens entre écoféminisme spirituel et psychanalyse lacanienne. Ces deux courants de pensée partagent en effet une même matrice idéologique : celle d'un fondement dualiste prétendument "naturel" qui régirait l'organisation sociale et psychique des individus. D'une part, la Terre-Mère-Nature, expression de la Loi immanente; d'autre part, le Ciel-Père-Culture, expression de la Loi transcendante. Ainsi, l'écoféminisme spirituel et la psychanalyse lacanienne se complèteraient plus qu'ils ne s'opposeraient. L'un et l'autre naturaliseraient les dimensions genrées et sexuées de la vie humaine, à la fois en termes d'organisation sociale et de structures psychiques. Françoise d'Eaubonne (1920-2005) proposed the term «ecofeminism», between the '60s and '70s, to explain the necessary convergence between feminism and ecologist as an alternatives to the world crisis. The drifts of ecofeminism is a fascinating path as well as a window to understand the tensions of feminist and ecologist; even more so since the current crisis of reproduction, where feminist struggles in defense of the bodies-territories detain the advanced destroyer of patriarchal and colonial capitalism. However, in these debates, the figure of Françoise d'Eaubonne and the vehemence of her proposals usually remain as a mere encyclopedic reference. The feminist movement, the urgencies of the ecological crisis, and the COVID-19 pandemic, awaken our interest in her work and her figure.
In this text from the early 1990s, Irene Diamond offers an ecofeminist critique of the domination of tecnocratic knowledge and the narrative of progess that characterised the Enligthenment. While Diamond insists on the harm that such processes can generate, even more so than the devastation created by violent militarism, she also offers a strong answer in favor of an ecological, democratic and egalitarian future by drawing on the intricate struggle of non-western women for their liberation as well as the liberation of the earth; a struggle that Diamond relates to various tendencies within contemporary feminism in general, and ecofeminism in particular: the defense of intersectionality, the valorisaion of activist and situated knowledge, the articulation of a holistic emancipatory agenda of a libertarian nature, that questions the emancipatory potential of the state and the performance of two slogans which have come to define ecologists and feminists' struggles: the personal is political (and academic), and think global, act local. ; En este texto de principios de los años noventa Irene Diamond ofrece una critica ecofeminista al dominio del conocimiento técnico y a la narrativa acerca del progreso características de la ilustración Si bien Diamond incide en el daño que estos procesos pueden generar, más si cabe que "la devastación ya conocida del militarismo violento", también ofrece una contundente respuesta a favor de un futuro ecológico, democrático e igualitario a partir de la lucha de las mujeres no occidentales en pos de su propia liberación así como de la liberación de la tierra; una lucha que Diamond entronca con varias tendencias del feminismo contemporáneo en general, y del ecofeminismo en particular: la defensa de la interseccionalidad, la revalorización del conocimiento situado y activista, la articulación de una agenda de emancipación holística y libertaria que cuestiona el potencial emancipador del estado, y la puesta en práctica de dos eslóganes que han venido a definir las luchas feministas y ecologistas en los últimos tiempos: lo personal es político (y académico) y piensa globalmente, actúa localmente.
