UKM Batik Jember as one of the local economic resources, has the potential to contribute to special characteristics for the city of Jember so that it is known inside and outside the region. The government and the public need to pay attention to the development of UKM Batik Jember in order to be competitive with other economic actors. The purpose of this research is to get a strategy for local economic development in UKM Batik Jember in Jember. This research is a survey research conducted in Jember with the population being batik entrepreneurs in Jember. The analytical method used in this study is SWOT analysis. This analysis is used to determine the internal and external conditions of an organization which will then be used as a basis for designing strategies and work programs. The results of the SWOT analysis of the position of UKM Batik Jember are in the position that this industry is still weak so it still needs to make improvements from internal and external Jember Batik UKM. The recommended strategy is a survival strategy through business cooperation or business partnerships, building forums and partnerships with local governments and improving internal business problems.
This study considers the political aspects of the Joko Widodo government's megaproject to build an integrated marine logistic system known as the tol laut. Expanding the existing literature which gives details about the contextual obstacles faced by and the prospects for the Indonesian government to pursue its infrastructure ambitions, the study argues that notwithstanding the relevance of the tol laut for advancing the Indonesian economy, it is inevitably entangled with dynamic internal and external environments which can unfavourably distort the construction processes. This is the way of understanding the political economy of Indonesia's development issues which allows for the juxtaposition of domestic political and international relations factors as its framework of analysis. The discussion is divided into four sections. Section one explains the conceptual and methodological foundation of the study. Section two outlines the importance of the tol laut to Indonesian national economic development. Section three looks at how the current domestic political settings pose structural hurdles to Widodo's tol laut, and section four observes the effect of international relations of powerful regional actors and Jakarta's diplomatic capacity to the on-going tol laut. The concluding section summarizes the findings of the study.
The problem of this research is how Islam regards the economy Foreign Debt Government of Indonesia and the solution according to Islamic economic perspective. This research was library research. Analysis of data using content analysis. The results of the study revealed that foreign debts are increasing in number every year. The government's foreign debt is a source of development financing is commonly done by developing countries. Indonesian government's foreign debt has been to contain the system of interest, known as riba nasi'ah, riba nasi'ah are in addition to the debt repayment required by donor countries. Thus, in their views of Islam, the government's foreign debt is currently not in accordance with the Qur'an and Hadith. Posts offer a solution formulation of the government's foreign debt in other forms of cooperation permitted under Sharia, such as Mudharabah, Musyarakah, Murabahah, Ijarah and others, can be developed as a form of external financing in the state budgets.
This paper analyses the important of regional investment agreements for promoting international trade in ASEAN countries. To visualize the above idea, this work will explain the roles of regional investment agreements to serve investment, trade facilitation and to protect regional investment interests. It is argued that regional investment agreements can serve as a vehicle for dialogue, coordination on and to response regional issues including regulatory harmonization, infrastructure development, and collaboration among members to facilitate investment. The paper shows how regional agreements will commit to eliminate barriers on substantially trade and investment, create positive welfare gains, the productivity and stimulus to growth in the region. This paper also analyses the effect of the establishment of an ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) by 2015 to the regional investment policies. AEC aiming at transforming ASEAN into a single market and production base with a highly competitive economic region, equitable economic development, free movement of goods, services, investment, skilled labor, and freer flow of capital, will likely accelerate regional integration and cooperation in the investment sectors fully integrated into the international trade. Then, this work demonstrates the implementation of regional investment cooperation into the formal instruments/agreements of investment policy architecture promoting and protecting cross border investment among nationals of ASEAN member states, such as ASEAN Investment Guarantee Agreement (IGA), the ASEAN Investment Area (AIA) and ASEAN Comprehensive Investment Agreement (ACIA). However, it is realized that the ASEAN members may resist and protest against the regional investment agreements because of conflicting their national interest. The paper proposed that the regional inv stment agreements need to be strengthened by harmonization and structural adjustment due to the member's resistance and protest. This idea may spark challenge because each member has fundamental differences on the nature and character of legal and economic systems reflecting different political systems, economic and social cultures in accordance with the philosophy of life values and national interests of each country. To overcome the challenge, this paper argues that ASEAN member countries need to unilaterally and collectively come up with structuring trade and investment policy harmonization to move ahead and reap the benefits from regional investment agreement as a common tool for contesting their interest in international trade. In addition, pre agreed flexibilities to accommodate the interests of all ASEAN countries may eliminate the problem.
Economic growth is no longer just to improve the economy alone, but economic growth must also pay attention to the welfare of the community and be carried out by paying attention to the quality of the economic growth. Good economic growth is not only temporary but long term. One of the government's efforts by this concept is to create inclusive and sustainable economic growth. The measure of the quality of economic growth can be seen through the Inclusive Economic Development Index (IGI). However, achieving inclusive economic growth is not easy. The novelty of the research is that inclusive economic growth is not only approached with an economic approach but non-economic variables are also included, to see further this interrelation. The method used in this research is quantitative with a descriptive approach. Panel regression analysis models and techniques using stata. The results of this study indicate that technology and human resources have a significant and positive effect on inclusive economic growth in Indonesia from 2017 to 2019. Meanwhile, politics has a positive but not significant effect on inclusive economic growth in Indonesia from 2017 to 2019. From the results of this study, it can be seen that also that technology, politics, and human resources simultaneously have a significant and positive effect on inclusive economic growth in Indonesia from 2017 to 2019. While Indonesia has been experiencing relatively considerable and stable economic growth in the last decades, the country is prone to income disparity across regions due to uneven distribution of population, natural resources and the persistent impacts of centralized development imposed by the New Order regime. This study examines the economic growth convergence in East Java, Indonesia, from 2010 to 2019 and explores the influence of government expenditure on education, health, and capital sector on the economic growth convergence. By considering spatial dependence across regions, the result shows no strong evidence of regional income convergence in East Java. Also, this research claims the presence of spillover effect of government expenditure on education and capital sector on regional income growth. Notably, higher government expenditure of the education sector in one region could stimulate higher economic growth of its neighboring regions. Conversely, higher government expenditure on the capital sector in one region may lower the economic growth of its surrounding regions.

ADB, a number of countries in Asia also experienced progress in achieving the millennium development goals. The number of poor population has decreased significantly in Malaysia, Viet Nam and China. In Thailand and Malaysia, long-term policies to overcome poverty coupled with their concern for the environment has made the countries that are in the lowest rank of 25 percent experienced improved HDI to 82. The IMF report, these countries are on a sustainable growth path. But not so the case with Indonesia, a country with a diversity of biodiversity in forests is raining but the risorsis contained therein are not managed sustainably and fairly.Programme of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) will be forwarded to Suistanable Development Goals (SDGs). This paper investigates the association of religiosity and trust to community participation or volunteering in development. Social trust is measured in several indicators, is an important aspect of development process, since social trust related to many development outcomes, such as growth, democratic stability as well as subjective well- being. In economic terms, when people trust each other, transaction cost can be reduced, organization can perform better, government policy could stimulate output faster, and many more. Utilizing Indonesia Family Life Survey (IFLS) wave 2014 this study finds the following results. Firstly, social trust closely associated with individual characteristics. Maturity, better educational and income level improve individual trust and individual participation in community activities. Secondly, individual subjective report about religiosity strongly associated with willingness to participate in various community activities. Policy relevant with this finding it is important to promote tolerance and religiosity, as these aspects can improve social trust. Social trust closely associates with more participation in community activities for accumulating public services and public goods. As more public services and public goods are available, nationally better welfare can be promoted.
Studying the factors of national economic growth stabilization is especially topical and relevant under the conditions of growing economic interdependence of the states which objectively limits the regulatory functions of national governments, in parallel to which regionalization gradually establishes oneself as an alter-trend to globalism. In our research we stem from the analysis of the macroeconomic statistics and of the dynamics of economic progress in the selected countries of the world, so that to determine the correlation between the indicators of economic growth stability for a selected group of countries with their integration into the world markets. Conclusions of our analysis outline the regularities in stable economic growth strategies' implementation along with the key factors contributing to economic stabilization under contemporary conditions. The important role of geography is emphasized, inter alia, since geography is the key precondition for development and implementation of the long-term strategies of economic progress for world regions.
This study aims to determine the formulation of strategies that can be used in facing the challenges of implementation of innovation policies in realising sustainable development in the community environment with the case study of the Indonesia Village Government. The innovation policy aims to improve the quality in the use of village funds and also to encourage productivity and development in rural areas as well as build sustainable village capacity to improve the socio-economic welfare of the community and the independence of the village. This qualitative research uses a case study approach through field research in the village local government. We identified several challenges in the implementation of the innovation policy. In overcoming these challenges, as well as successfully implementing the policy, the role of innovative behaviour on the part of policy makers at the village level is importance. With an exploration strategy approach, entrepreneurial strategies and open and collaborative approaches used by various parties are also required in the successful implementation of innovation policy. The development of future research related to innovation policy relevant to the characteristics of rural communities is still very much needed.
The role of the local economy gets eroded due to the inclusion of capitalization in rural areas. This research examines the coal mining industry's influence on the local economy's existence in Berambai Hamlet, Bukit Pariaman Village, Tenggarong Seberang Sub-district, Kutai Kartanegara Regency, East Kalimantan Province, Indonesia. This research uses qualitative research methods; meanwhile, data collection methods use field observation and in-depth interviews. Interviews were conducted in stages through a snowball sampling to strengthen the observations' results. The results show that the local economy and livelihood in Berambai Hamlet are under pressure and eroded due to coal mining activities. Livelihood products shrank drastically, especially fish and rice, due to mining waste polluting rivers and agricultural land conversion to mining areas. Furthermore, other sources of income from farmworkers are not enough to fulfill the needs. The government needs to protect their livelihoods as a driving force for the local economy by integrating nature-based life. The government needs to develop local economic potentials, such as tourism areas, crafts, and artworks. The government also needs to strengthen village institutions. It must be carried out together with mining companies seriously. Furthermore, the government needs to maintain the unity of rural spatial and spatial planning. ; Peran ekonomi lokal semakin terkikis akibat masuknya permodalan di pedesaan. Penelitian ini mengkaji pengaruh industri pertambangan batu bara terhadap eksistensi perekonomian lokal di Dusun Berambai, Desa Bukit Pariaman, Kecamatan Tenggarong Seberang, Kabupaten Kutai Kartanegara, Provinsi Kalimantan Utara, Indonesia. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif; sedangkan metode pengumpulan datanya menggunakan observasi lapangan dan wawancara mendalam. Wawancara dilakukan secara bertahap melalui snowball sampling. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perekonomian dan mata pencaharian masyarakat di Dusun Berambai mengalami tekanan dan tergerus akibat kegiatan penambangan batu bara. Produk mata pencaharian menyusut drastis, terutama ikan dan beras akibat limbah tambang mencemari sungai dan perubahan lahan pertanian menjadi area pertambangan. Selain itu, sumber pendapatan lain dari buruh tani tidak cukup untuk memenuhi kebutuhan. Pemerintah perlu melindungi mata pencaharian mereka sebagai penggerak ekonomi lokal dengan mengintegrasikan kehidupan berbasis alam. Pemerintah perlu mengembangkan potensi ekonomi lokal, seperti kawasan pariwisata, kerajinan, dan karya seni. Pemerintah juga perlu memperkuat kelembagaan desa. Ini harus dilakukan bersama dengan perusahaan tambang secara serius. Selanjutnya, pemerintah perlu menjaga kesatuan tata ruang desa dan perencanaan tata ruang.
Governance has gone through radical changes over the last twenty five years.Seemingly, it became one of the important strategies, processes, methods and mechanisms in governing countries to achieve economic development goals. The objective of this paper is to observe the local economic governance dynamics in the case of districts/municipalities in Indonesia. First, the dynamics behavior of local governance over time is analyzed by visual inspection of their non-parametric density distribution. More deeply, we use Markov chains to predict a pattern of change in local economic governance toward its steady state. Based on comparison between 2007 and 2011 data delivered by Commission of Regional Autonomy Implementation Watch, we conclude that there is a high level of persistence in the relative position of local governance index, consistent with a low degree of mobility in the index distribution implying the implementation of governance in the districts/municipalities in Indonesia is weak enough. This research aims to identify the prospects and challenges for implementing smart villages using a case study of Genteng Village in West Java, Indonesia, according to the sustainable development perspective and the enabler factors of socio-economic factors, village's technology, and environmental aspects. This research uses a qualitative approach to assess the potencies and challenges from social, economic, environmental, and infrastructure perspectives. This research conducts a field survey with in-depth interviews and observation in Genteng Village, Sukasari Sub-district, Sumedang Regency, West Java Province to tap the information needed. Interviews with stakeholders were conducted with informants representing the rural stakeholders consisted of village official government, village local champion/leader, and farmer group representatives. Researcher involvement in nearly two years in regular visits and observations before this research has enriched and validated the information obtained. This research found prospective local social capital components and economic potencies to develop using the smart village framework. Environment and infrastructure are relatively still the challenges to be overcome towards the smart village. This research concludes that Genteng Village is on the right track, though early-stage to develop as a smart village. External factors, mainly information and communication technology, will be one of the main driving factors for optimism in implementing a smart village in Genteng Village. ; Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi prospek dan tantangan penerapan desa cerdas menggunakan studi kasus Desa Genteng di Jawa Barat, Indonesia, menurut perspektif pembangunan berkelanjutan dan faktor pendorong dari faktor sosial ekonomi, teknologi desa, dan aspek lingkungan. Studi ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif untuk menilai potensi dan tantangan dari perspektif sosial, ekonomi, lingkungan, dan infrastruktur. Penelitian ini melakukan survei lapangan dengan wawancara mendalam dan observasi di desa Genteng, Kecamatan Sukasari, Kabupaten Sumedang, Provinsi Jawa Barat untuk menggali informasi yang dibutuhkan. Wawancara dengan pemangku kepentingan dilakukan dengan informan yang mewakili pemangku kepentingan desa yang terdiri dari perangkat desa, tokoh masyarakat desa, dan perwakilan kelompok tani. Keterlibatan peneliti selama hampir dua tahun dalam kunjungan rutin dan observasi sebelum penelitian ini telah memperkaya dan memvalidasi informasi yang diperoleh. Studi ini menemukan potensi komponen modal sosial lokal dan potensi ekonomi untuk dikembangkan dengan kerangka kerja desa cerdas. Lingkungan dan infrastruktur relatif masih menjadi tantangan yang harus diatasi menuju desa cerdas. Studi ini menyimpulkan bahwa desa Genteng berada pada jalur yang benar meskipun masih dalam tahap awal untuk berkembang menjadi desa cerdas. Faktor eksternal, terutama teknologi informasi dan komunikasi, akan menjadi salah satu pendorong utama optimisme penerapan desa cerdas di Desa Genteng.

This condition is represented by disparity between potential and actual collection. In Islam, the objective of zakatis not only to collect wealth and keep it idle, instead zakat should become a source of productive fund to fulfill societal needs. Some countries with advanced zakat institutions have developed zakatto become a pillar of economic development. Today, each zakat institution is competing against each other to innovate in zakat fund management. Empowerment in zakat institutions with the appropriate strategies will enhance zakat management and distribution for the betterment of zakat recipients (mustahiq) and the Muslim society at large. Design/Methodology/Approach: This research is aimed to analyze optimization of management in regional zakat institution with SWOT (strength, weakness, opportunity, threat) analysis approach with IFE-EFE Matrix. Descriptive qualitative analysis is used to explain optimization of fund in zakat institution. Major Findings: Findings of this research shows that zakat institution should improve their strategy by developing strength and turning threat into opportunities. Originality/Value: The study provides a guideline for regional zakat institution on how they can enhance their role and efficiency to boost the economic growth for the Islamic community in Indonesia. It may also be instrumental for the government to improve in efficiency and innovative manpower, considerable research and development in optimizing Islamic Gift Economy to enhance economic growth of the Islamic community of Indonesia.
