In our preview article (Castillo, López 2016) we focused on role of people with disabilities, both in Ancient Egypt and classical Greece, their economic, social and political situation. In this second part we are going to discuss the topics left aside in the first article which are the references to dwarfs in relation to Egyptian divinities and their religious function and finally the image of ritual lameness and its ideological function within the aristocracy, representation very present in the imaginary of Mediterranean societies. ; En nuestro anterior artículo (Castillo, López, 2016) analizamos la situación de las personas con discapacidad tanto en el Antiguo Egipto como en la Grecia clásica, ahondando en su situación económica, social y política. En esta segunda parte abordamos los temas dejados al margen en ese primer artículo, que son las referencias de enanos en relación a las divinidades egipcias y su función religiosa y, por último, la imagen de la cojera ritual y su función ideológica dentro de la aristocracia, representación muy presente en el imaginario de las sociedades mediterráneas.

En la descripción de la cama lujosa a la que una mujer descarada atrae a su amante, Proverbios 7 ofrece un homenaje indirecto a la riqueza egipcia. ; Abstract: What images of Egypt do we find in the Hebrew Bible, besides that of the exodus? Biblical texts look at their neighbour Egypt as a land of refuge (from hunger or from persecution). Being grand and strong, however, Egypt is also a provider of military machinery. It can become a false source of security for a people who should only trust in Yahweh. Wisdom literature is more benevolent. A more positive image of Egypt's richness is indirectly brought by the description, in Proverbs 7, of a luxurious bed to which a shameless woman invites her lover.

Ancient Egypt counts among the few historical cases which document the origins of the state. In contrast to other regions, where state organization remained for a long period on the level of city states, an extensive territorial state emerged in Egypt at the end of the 4th millennium BCE. Archaeological research during the last few decades has revealed a wealth of new information. In particular the emergence of complex social, economic and political structures can be followed from the earlier part of the 4th millennium. Within the regional setting, the development of city-state like structures can be documented. In addition, large scale networks of communication and interaction, extending from the Levant south to the area of the 2nd cataract of the Nile, can be recognized which anticipated important structures and functions of the territorial state of dynastic Egypt. Thus the origins of the state can be anchored within a larger context of structural development. At the same time, the question needs to be addressed: how did social, economic and cultural structures later on develop within the political framework of the pharaonic state? ; El antiguo Egipto está entre los pocos casos históricos que documentan los orígenes del Estado. En contraste con otras regiones donde la organización estatal permaneció por mucho tiempo en el nivel de ciudades-Estado, en Egipto surgió un extenso Estado territorial ya hacia fines del cuarto milenio a.C. La investigación arqueológica realizada durante las últimas décadas ha revelado una abundancia de nueva información. De manera particular, el surgimiento de la complejidad social y de las estructuras económicas y políticas se puede seguir desde la parte temprana del cuarto milenio. Dentro de este entorno regional se pueden reconocer tanto el desarrollo de estructuras de tipo ciudades-Estado como redes de comunicación e interacción de gran escala que alcanzaron desde el área sur del Levante hasta la Segunda Catarata del Nilo; estas últimas anticiparon estructuras y funciones importantes del Estado territorial del posterior Egipto dinástico. De este modo, los orígenes del Estado pueden ser determinados dentro de un contexto más grande de progreso estructural. Al mismo tiempo, el tema necesita ser abordado en el marco de cómo, más adelante, surgieron organizaciones sociales, económicas y culturales al interior del escenario político del Estado faraónico.

Este artículo presenta los factores que posibilitaron el cambio político en Túnez y Egipto. También muestra escenarios posibles para ambos países que están directamente relacionados con los elementos que permitieron la caída de ambos dictadores. Caben destacar dos factores: la pérdida de infl uencia del ejército y la apuesta por la democracia de la sociedad civil y de los representantes del Islam político. Ambos países pueden ser un modelo para el resto de Oriente Medio que han iniciado revueltas. Los deseos de libertad y desarrollo han hecho que dictaduras sólidas hayan caído estrepitosamente abriéndose paso una nueva etapa. ; The present article shows the factors that made possible the political change in Tunisia and Egypt. Some possible scenarios for both countries -related to the elements that caused the fall of both dictators- will be shown. Two factors will be stressed: the loss of infl uence of the army, and the support for democracy from the civil society and political Islam groups. The present contribution aims at an analysis of female monastic garments, their use and symbology in the fourth to sixth centuries in Egypt. This was the period of the greatest development and prosperity of ascetic and monastic life in all its variants. The nuns, living in their houses or in monasteries, dressed special garments, which acquired in the course of time a special symbology in the monastic environment and in society. Literary, juridical, papyrological and iconographical evidence show the elements which constituted female monastic garments, their evolution and importance. ; La presente contribución versa sobre la composición, obtención, uso y significado del hábito monástico femenino en Egipto durante los siglos IV al VI, momento de mayor desarrollo y florecimiento del monacato egipcio en sus diferentes tipos. Las vírgenes consagradas a la vida ascética, viviendo en el interior de sus casas o en un cenobio, portaron una vestimenta identificativa, que fue obteniendo con el tiempo una gran carga de simbolismo tanto en el interior del sistema monástico como frente a la sociedad civil. Testimonios literarios, legislativos, papirológicos o iconográficos muestran los elementos que constituían el hábito monástico, su evolución y la importancia final que adquirió.

RESUMEN: El presente trabajo tiene como propósito el estudio de la ocupación militar romana en Egipto a partir de tres casos concretos: Philae, Luxor y Babylon. A partir del análisis de los mismos se tratará de explicar cómo se dio esa ocupación por parte de Roma, y la evolución de dichos casos a lo largo de los siglos, de forma que se pueda entender la importancia de los mismos. Así, y en última instancia, se tratará de comprender la integración de Egipto como provincia en el marco militar romano. ; ABSTRACT: This paper aims to study Roman military occupation in Egypt from three specific cases: Philae, Luxor and Babylon. From the analysis of these, it will be explained how this occupation and the evolution of these cases occurred over the centuries, so that the importance of these spaces can be understood. After the fall of President Hosni Mubarak in February 2011, an internal process of political transformation began that also entailed a recomposition of Egypt's regional strategic alliances. The analysis of these transformations makes it possible to evaluate the scope of the changes —or the continuity— in the country's foreign policy and the evolution of the adaptation policies implemented by Egyptian diplomacy in the regional arena between 2011 and 2016. This article analyses case studies of relations between post-Mubarak Egypt and the Gulf countries, most specifically Saudi Arabia, as well as other countries in the region like Libya, Syria and Palestine, in addition to examining ties with the United States. ; Tras la caída del presidente Hosni Mubarak en febrero de 2011 se inició un proceso de transformación política interna que supuso asimismo una recomposición de las alianzas estratégicas de Egipto a nivel regional. El análisis de estas transformaciones permite valorar el alcance de los cambios -o la continuidad- de su política exterior y la evolución de las políticas de adaptación llevadas a cabo por la diplomacia egipcia en el escenario regional durante el periodo comprendido entre 2011 y 2016. En este artículo se analizarán los estudios de caso de las relaciones establecidas entre el Egipto post-Mubarak y los países del Golfo, en concreto con Arabia Saudí, así como con otros países de la región como Libia, Siria y Palestina, además de abordar los vínculos con los Estados Unidos.

10 p. ; En el siguiente trabajo monográfico se intenta hacer un análisis de las principales características de las nuevas Constituciones de las Repúblicas de Túnez y Egipto, teniendo en cuenta el proceso constituyente atravesado luego de la mal llamada primavera Árabe y sus revueltas, y que concluye en el 2014 con la aprobación de los nuevos textos constitucionales. Para arribar a conclusiones adecuadas es importante no transpolar modelos de repúblicas desde la visión occidental, sino entender desde los procesos atravesado por cada sociedad, cómo se determina el modo en que se organiza y ejerce su derecho a la autodeterminación. Sin embargo, no negamos la existencia de ciertos valores fundamentales que nos permiten desde nuestra perspectiva sostener dicho análisis: la igualdad y la justicia. --

En este artículo se presenta un estudio sobre la política exterior española hacia Egipto tras la caída del presidente Hosni Mubarak en febrero de 2011. La respuesta dada por la diplomacia española a las transformaciones políticas que se iniciaron en Egipto a partir de esa fecha, no se ha diferenciado, en líneas generales, a la desarrollada por la diplomacia europea. Esta se ha basado en un primer momento en la prudencia, para pasar posteriormente al pragmatismo, y en algunos casos a la improvisación, ante los sucesivos gobiernos tras el derrocamiento de Mubarak, así como en un comportamiento a remolque según se iban sucediendo los acontecimientos. Desde 2014, se percibe por parte de la diplomacia española y europea un retorno a las políticas basadas en cuestiones securitarias y financieras, como las desarrolladas bajo la presidencia de Mubarak, en las que se apostaba por gobernantes "fuertes" que garantizasen la estabilidad en la zona mientras se alejaba el foco de la sociedad civil ; This article presents a study of Spanish foreign policy towards Egypt after the fall of President Hosni Mubarak in February 2011. Generally speaking, the Spanish diplomatic response to the political transformations that began in Egypt at that time differed little from the European diplomatic response. At first it was based on prudence and then at a later stage on pragmatism, with occasional cases of improvisation in the face of the successive governments that followed Mubarak's overthrow and some reactions in the wake of various events. Since December 2014, the focus of Spanish and European diplomacy has returned to security and financial matters, with policies similar to those during the Mubarak presidency, an emphasis on supporting 'strong' leaders who guarantee stability in the area and less attention on civil society

Nasser y el impacto que sus políticas han tenido en la región de Oriente Medio han preocupado a muchos autores y representa un fenómeno bien conocido en las Relaciones Internacionales. El presente artículo analiza la política exterior egipcia hacia Israel durante el periodo 1952-1970 bajo un prisma diferente, el de la "sociología del poder". Nuestro objetivo es demostrar que la política exterior del régimen naserista hacia Tel Aviv no estuvo guiada por el "interés nacional" o la causa pan-arabista, sino más bien fue el resultado del interés de los principales actores por aumentar su poder vis-à-vis sus competidores internos y externos. The present article analyses the Egyptian foreign policy towards Israel during the period 1952-1970 under a different prism, that of the 'sociology of power'. Our aim is to demonstrate that the foreign policy of the Nasserist regime towards Tel Aviv was not guided by a 'national interest' or the pan-Arab cause, but rather was the result of the main actors' interest in increasing their power capabilities vis-à-vis their internal and external competitors. Atari thus launched its own system of representation that was named three-quarter perspective, and that would subsequently be used by all large videogame companies. Three-quarter perspective was, in reality, what was termed 'Egyptian perspective' 1 orHejduk perspective, which consists of placing plan and elevation in a single drawing and simultaneously. That event had a great impact on the representation of virtual space showing a particular conception of the world, demonstrating that the production of space in videogames has, since its inception, had an interdisciplinary link with the materialised space of architecture. 14 p. ; Luego de que se plasmara la Primavera Árabe entre enero y febrero de 2011 y junto con ella, la destitución de Hosni Mubarak como Presidente, Egipto entró en un período de transición a cargo de las Fuerzas Armadas que finalizó una vez que Mohamed Morsi resultó electo nuevo Presidente en junio de 2012, convirtiéndose de esta manera, en el primer civil en ocupar el cargo. Las elecciones que tuvieron lugar entre noviembre de 2011 y junio de 2012 resultan de sumo interés por ser las primeras de carácter democrático en la historia de este país norafricano -tanto las efectuadas para el Poder Ejecutivo como aquellas realizadas para conformar ambas cámaras del Legislativo nacional-. El otro punto de interés que se deriva de estos comicios es el triunfo que sistemáticamente alcanzó el Partido de la Libertad y la Justicia (PLJ) creado ese mismo año por la organización islamista Hermanos Musulmanes (HHMM), cofradía que cuenta con más de 80 años de existencia en ese país pero que nunca tuvo permitido participar legalmente de ningún proceso electoral. Por estos motivos señalados, el presente artículo se dedica a estudiar las diferentes rondas electorales y sus resultados, además de analizar la actuación de HHMM para explicar el apoyo que obtuvo en las urnas y que le garantizó la mayoría parlamentaria y el liderazgo institucional de Egipto. After the Arabic Spring between January and February, 2011 and together with Hosni Mubarak's dismissal as president, Egypt entered a transitional period at the expense of the Armed Forces that it finished as soon as Mohamed Morsi turned out to be an elected president in June, 2012, turning hereby into the civilian first in occupying the post. The choices that took place between November, 2011 and June, 2012 assume the most interest to be the first ones of democratic character in the history of this North African country -so much the effected ones for the Executive Power like those realized to shape both chambers of the Legislative native-. Another point of interest derives of these assemblies, so, it is the victory that systematicly reached the Party of the Freedom and the Justice created (PFJ) the same year for the islamist organization Moslem Brother (HHMM), confraternity that counts with more than 80 years of existence in this country but that never had allowed to take part legally of electoral process. For these notable motives, the present article pretends studying the different electoral rounds and his results, besides analyzing to act of HHMM to explain the support that it obtained in the ballots and that guaranteed the parliamentary majority and the presidency of Egypt. --

Inicialmente (Nagada Ilc-d), parecem ter tomado forma na região três "proto-Estados", centrados em Hieracompolis, Nagada e Abidos, que confluiriam logo para um único "proto-Estado" no Alto Egito. Durante o mesmo período, também, se verifica uma crescente influência cultural desses núcleos sobre todo o território compreendido entre a primeira catarata do Nilo e o Mar Mediterrâneo.
