A study to determine the effects of farm tractorization on output & human labor employment on Punjab farms in India. Data were collected by the Punjab Agricultural U, Ludhiana, India on behalf of the Directorate of Economics & Statistics of the Government of India. Detailed records on farm enterprise were obtained from 200 farms in the State of Punjab for the crop year 1971/72. Results suggest that the use of tractors has resulted in higher output & more employment. It is believed that the threat from farm tractorization is not significant; the use of tractors is likely to be confined to certain areas only, & in those places any displacement of labor should be controllable through appropriate public policies. 6 Tables.
