The name of Machiavelli has had negative connotations through history. However, his best-known work, The Prince, was a reference and an inspiration both for the world of politics and of literature. Many English writers reflect in their works an unquestionable mark that dates back to the Elizabethan era. Playwrights such as Christopher Marlowe or Ben Jon-son created characters inspired by Machiavelli. More importantly, Shakespeare, with his great knowledge of human nature, was the best adapter of the ideas of pragmatism, power and poli-tical skill to immortal characters of the dramatic writing of his age. Later on, philosophers such as Bernard Mandeville, already in the 18th century, were attracted to the moral, religious and social concepts put forward by this famous Florentine thinker. Already in the 20th century, poet and literary critic T. S. Eliot devoted some of his essays to reevaluating the political thinking of Machiavelli and its repercussions on English literature. ; El nombre de Maquiavelo ha tenido connotaciones negativas a lo largo de la historia. Sin embargo, su obra más conocida, El Príncipe, sirvió de referencia e inspiración tanto en el mundo de la política como en el de la literatura. Muchos escritores ingleses reflejan en sus obras una indudable huella que se remonta a la época isabelina. Dramaturgos como Christopher Mar-lowe o Ben Jonson crearon personajes inspirados en Maquiavelo. Pero fue sobre todo Shakespeare, con su gran conocimiento de la naturaleza humana, quien mejor adaptó las ideas de pragmatismo, poder y habilidad política a personajes inmortales de la dramaturgia de la época. Posteriormente, filósofos como Bernard Mandeville, ya en el siglo XVIII, se sintieron atraídos por los conceptos morales, religiosos y sociales del ilustre florentino. En pleno siglo XX el poeta y crítico literario T.S. Eliot dedicó alguno de sus ensayos a reevaluar el pensamiento político de Maquiavelo y sus repercusiones en la literatura inglesa.

Este artículo reporta un análisis del estado del arte sobre las actitudes de los profesores hacia la educación inclusiva de niños con discapacidad. Este artículo analiza una variedad de investigaciones con el propósito de explorar los factores y las razones que pueden incidir en las actitudes de los profesores sobre la enseñanza a niños discapacitados. El análisis fue llevado a cabo para mostrar evidencia de las perspectivas positivas y negativas de los profesores hacía la inclusión. Durante todo el análisis, las actitudes de los profesores resultaron ser influenciadas por su filosofía general de inclusión y la percepción de como debería ser implementado este proceso. Después de discutir los resultados de los estudios analizados, se encontró que las actitudes positivas o negativas dependía de una variedad de factores como el conocimiento de educación inclusiva, tiempo, recursos y desarrollo profesional.Palabras Claves: Inclusión, Politicas, y ActitudesAbstractThis paper reports a review of literature concerning the attitudes of teachers toward inclusive education of children with disabilities. This paper reviews a large body of research-based literature, in order to explore the factors and reasons that might impact teachers' attitudes concerning the teaching of disabled children. The analysis was carried out to show evidence of positive and negative views of teachers towards inclusion. Throughout the analysis, teachers' attitudes were found to be influenced by their general philosophy of inclusion and the way they perceived that inclusion should be implemented. After analyzing the results of various research studies, it was found that teachers' positive or negative attitudes depended on many factors such as knowledge toward inclusive education, time, resources and professional development. Abstract: Analyzing John Milton's works, one can observe the influence of his personal life, his biography upon his poetry and prose. Milton, in his works, not only demonstrates the social and political issues of his own society, but he also deals with the gender issue by creating female characters who have some weaknesses or faults, which cause destruction and disaster. Therefore, his own experiences not only related to social issues but also about women and marriage play a considerable role in his depiction of the relationship between female and male. In this article, the general condition of women in the 17th century English society and Milton's portrayal of women will be analyzed by highlighting the influence of Milton's own experiences upon his representation of gender roles.

Debido a los cambios políticos y sociales que España ha ido viviendo, el aprendizaje de la lengua inglesa ha ido evolucionando. Durante ese proceso, las metodologías de enseñanza de idiomas han sido de gran variedad y han ido cambiando hasta la actualidad. En los últimos años, la adquisición de la Competencia Comunicativa se ha convertido en un punto fundamental. Para poder llevarlo a cabo, en este trabajo fin de grado se realizará una propuesta de intervención para alumn@s de Primer Curso de Primaria. ; Due to political and social changes that Spain has been living, the learning of the English language has evolved. During that process, language teaching methodologies have been of great variety and have evolved to the present day. In recent years, the acquisition of communicative competence has become a fundamental point. To be able to carry it out, there will be a proposal of intervention for thestudents of the first year of Primary Education.

Este Trabajo Fin de Grado trata la Literatura en el aula y las nuevas tecnologías como recursos innovadores en el aula como elementos motivadores en los alumnos, específicamente de 4º de Primaria. Es por ello que tiene un fundamento legislativo y metodológico nombrando a varios autores y corrientes de aprendizaje. Además, se incluyen varios apartados como los contenidos del curriculum y la evaluación, la cual, está recogida desde varios puntos de vista. Finalmente, se incluye una extensa bibliografía de autores que sostienen este trabajo. ; This Final Report of Primary Degree deals with the literature in the classroom and the use of the new technologies as innovative resources for the students, specifically in Primary 4. Moreover, this essay is based on legally and methodological foundations as it names different authors and learning styles. Furthermore, there are different principal items to be named such as contents of the curriculum and assessment of the former. Finally, it is included a wide bibliography of authors which has been formed the base of this essay.

This essay presents a reading of the relationship between the poetics and political thinking of the English Romantic poet Percy Bysshe Shelley. The analysis centers on his main theoretical works, but also endeavors to establish some general relations to different moments of his poetic production. The reading develops the contradiction that is posed by the conjunction of a historical materialism of Godwinian origin and a political idealism more proper to the humanistic tradition. In this context, this paper proposes that the communicating vessel between Shelley's political and aesthetic thinking is the idealistic assumption of continuity between conscience, will and social reality, which enables him to identify his poetic project with his politics. The essay concludes by understanding this contradiction within the logic of Utopian socialism, as it has been characterized by the historian Perry Anderson. ; Este ensayo es una lectura de las relaciones que hay entre el pensamiento político y estético del poeta romántico inglés Percy Bysshe Shelley. Su análisis se centra en las principales obras teóricas de este autor, pero también intenta establecer algunas relaciones generales con distintos momentos de su producción poética. La lectura desarrolla la contradicción que plantea la conjunción de un materialismo histórico de ascendencia godwiniana y un idealismo político de tradición humanista. En este contexto, propone que el vaso comunicante entre el pensamiento político y estético de Shelley es el presupuesto idealista de una continuidad entre conciencia, voluntad y realidad social, que le permite identifi car su proyecto poético con su política. Por último, entiende esta contradicción dentro de la lógica del socialismo utópico tal y como éste ha sido explicado por Perry Anderson.

La presente tesis doctoral es un estudio de la recepción de Shakespeare desde 1939 hasta 1975 (período de la dictadura de Franco). El trabajo comienza desgranando el canon de las producciones de Shakespeare en España desde 1772 hasta 1936, comenzando por las primeras producciones, para continuar analizando el teatro shakespeariano durante la dictadura de Primo de Rivera y la II República. Este preámbulo nos servirá para comprobar posibles influencias en la conformación del canon del teatro franquista y de la forma de representar las obras de Shakespeare. Profundizaremos en el estudio de los condicionantes políticos y culturales en la España de Franco, determinando cuál fue el papel de la censura en España y de la ideología. A continuación se vislumbra un rápido bosquejo de las producciones shakespearianas en países de ideología análoga en la misma franja temporal para estudiar posibles paralelismos. Para el estudio del canon shakespeariano se utilizan los fondos documentales existentes en torno a la prensa del momento, así como los archivos de la censura y las colecciones fotográficas de las obras representadas. Todo ello nos servirá para establecer unas conclusiones en torno a la recepción de Shakespeare en los teatros nacionales franquistas. ; This work is study on the recception of Shakespeare from 1939 until 1975 (Franco´s dictatorship in Spain). The study starts in the canon observed in the Shakespere´s performances from 1772 until 1936, from the very first productions, to continue analysing Shakespere´s theatre at Primo de Rivera´s dictatorship and the 2nd. Spanish Republic. This introduction will guide us to see possible influences when studying the Francoist canon and its way of performing Shakespeare´s plays. I am also deepening in the cultural and political background, determining which was the role placed by censhorship and ideology in Spain. Resumen El objetivo de esta investigación es analizar las representaciones del cuerpo no normativo en las obras de Jeanette Winterson (1959) Espejismos y La mujer de púrpura. En especial, el cuerpo grotesco, que se ejemplifica en figuras como la del monstruo, el freak o las personas gordas. La metodología empleada consistirá en el análisis de los personajes femeninos protagonistas, con el apoyo de textos secundarios que teorizan tanto sobre estas obras como acerca de asuntos como la reflexión sobre la diversidad corporal y el concepto de belleza en la época contemporánea. Se prestará especial atención a la posible finalidad subversiva y política que estas imágenes puedan sostener, en oposición a una belleza estándar.AbstractThe aim of this research is to analyze the representations of the non-normative body in two works by Jeanette Winterson (1959), Sexingthe Cherry and TheDaylight Gate. Especially, the grotesque body, which is exemplified in figures such as the monster, the freak or the fat people. The methodology used will consist of the analysis of the main female characters, with the support of secondary texts that theorize both about these works and about issues such as the consideration on the corporal diversity and the concept of beauty on the contemporary age. Special attention will be paid to the possible subversive and political purpose that these images may sustain, as opposed to a standard beauty.

This article intends to present the researches that has contemplated the relationship between literature and political violence, and literature, political violence and education. Methodologically, it begins with the work's search in libraries, databases and university repositories, continues with its reading and signing and ends with its categorization. As a result of the process, in the first part are presented the general features of the works that address the relationship between literature and political violence which are presented through a series of groupings according to the corpus construction, the literature participation in memory arrangement, literary violence representation or aesthetic and narrative resources through which representation is achieved. The second part shows how literary works that dialogue with political violence are related to education or work in the classroom. The article offers a mainly Latin American perspective, derived from a revision in English, French, Portuguese and Spanish languages. ; Este artículo se propone presentar las investigaciones que han contemplado la relación entre literatura y violencia política, y entre literatura, violencia política y educación. Metodológicamente, parte de la búsqueda de trabajos en bibliotecas, bases de datos y repositorios universitarios, continúa con su lectura y fichaje, y finaliza con su categorización. Como resultado del proceso, en la primera parte se presentan los rasgos generales de los trabajos que abordan la relación entre literatura y violencia política, a través de una serie de agrupamientos según atiendan a la construcción de corpus, la participación de la literatura en la configuración de la memoria, la representación literaria de la violencia o los recursos estéticos y narrativos mediante los cuales se logra tal representación. En la segunda parte se muestra cómo se relacionan con la educación o se trabajan en el aula las obras literarias que dialogan con fenómenos concernientes a la violencia política. El artículo ofrece una perspectiva principalmente latinoamericana, derivada de una revisión en lenguas inglesa, francesa, portuguesa y española.

This article presents a literature review regarding the latest trends in the inclusion of Critical Pedagogy (CP) in English Language Teaching (ELT) in different countries worldwide and in Colombia, considering its different regions. A review of different articles was conducted by considering four databases that include two regional and two international journal directories in both English and Spanish. The papers were analyzed and discussed from a mixed approach in which four keywords were tracked, and factors such as geographical distribution, as well as the way in which CP was implemented in the studies, were identified. The results of this query show that CP in ELT is an emerging trend, especially in countries where political, social, and economic inequality remains. In the same way, the findings suggest that different strategies regarding curricula analysis, the role of teachers and students as social subjects, among others, have been carried out in order to foster the understanding of this theory and its application and considerations in real-life contexts. Attempts to implement CP in English classes have proven to be meaningful experiences and constructive at developing critical thinking strategies in students. ; Este artículo presenta una revisión de literatura de las últimas tendencias en la inclusión de la Pedagogía Crítica (PC) en la enseñanza del inglés en diferentes países del mundo y en regiones de Colombia. Se llevó a cabo una revisión de varios artículos considerando cuatro bases de datos que incluyen directorios de revistas regionales e internacionales tanto en inglés como en español. Los artículos fueron analizados desde un enfoque mixto en donde se rastrearon cuatro palabras clave y se identificaron factores como la distribución geográfica y la manera en que se implementó la PC en los estudios. Los resultados de esta búsqueda sugieren que la PC en la enseñanza del inglés es una tendencia emergente, sobre todo en países en los que aún hay desigualdad social, política y económica. De la misma manera, los hallazgos revelan la implementación de diversas estrategias relacionadas con el análisis del currículo, el rol del maestro y del estudiante como sujetos sociales, entre otros, para promover el entendimiento de esta teoría, así como las consideraciones y aplicaciones en contextos de la vida real. Los esfuerzos de implementar la PC en las clases de inglés demuestran ser experiencias significativas y enriquecedoras en el momento de desarrollar estrategias de pensamiento crítico en los estudiantes.

La literatura, el folclore, los diccionarios y las gramáticas han utilizado y explicado las manifestaciones lingüísticas de modo que se adapten a la idea de que lo masculino debe ser el criterio universal (Spender 1980). Frente a estos antecedentes históricos, las feministas durante los años 70 y, posteriormente, los defensores de lo políticamente correcto de los 90, comenzaron una batalla contra el sexismo en el lenguaje, proporcionando soluciones en forma de pautas, folletos, glosarios, etc (Key 1975, Maggio 1987, 1991, McMinn 1991).El presente artículo explora la afirmación: "male equals positive and normal, female equals negative and abnormal" (Lakoff 1975, 2001) y, al prestar atención a desviaciones semánticamente parciales, proporcionar una visión histórica de equivalentes masculinos y femeninos. El corpus se construirá a partir de diccionarios monolingües y bilingües, diccionarios de expresiones idiomáticas, argot y proverbios para ofrecer un estudio diacrónico del lenguaje sexista, principalmente en inglés y español. Los sinónimos de algunas palabras se extraerán de páginas web y, para medir la actualidad de algunos de los ejemplos, se utilizarán tres corpus en línea. Se analizará también el marco sociocultural de estos términos y expresiones para ver hasta qué punto han moldeado ambas sociedades y qué efectos tienen actualmente en la vida de las mujeres. ; Literature, folklore, dictionaries and grammars have used and explained language manifestations to conform to the idea that male should be the standard of humanity (Spender 1980). Against this historical background, feminists during the 1970s and later politically correct advocates of the 1990s started battling against sexism in language, providing solutions, in the form of guidelines, booklets, glossaries, etc (Key 1975, Maggio 1987,1991, McMinn 1991).The present article explores the value assumption: "male equals positive and normal, female equals negative and abnormal" (Lakoff 1975, 2001) and, by paying attention to semantic biased deviations, gives a historical account of male and female counterparts. The corpus will be drawn from monolingual and bilingual dictionaries, dictionaries of idiomatic expressions, slang and proverbs to offer a diachronic study of sexist language mainly in English and in Spanish. Synonyms for certain terms will be drawn from Web pages and to measure the currency of some of the examples three on-line corpora will be used. The socio-cultural framework of these terms and expressions will be studied to see to what extent they have moulded both societies and what effects they have in women's lives today.

Having influenced by the British linguistic superiority, English bequeathed to people of India. Consequently, it got into some of the elite class. Due to the frequent use of English in science and technology and military elites it ran into higher education first then it was considered as medium of instruction at school level too. The current study investigated into the perceptions of the primary school teachers about induction, fortification and primacy of the English language as a medium of instruction in Vehari district. The population of the study were all the primary school teachers of Vehari region while sample of the study selected from all the city schools as well as from surrounding villages. Now a days, English is one of the main and compulsory subjects in Pakistan and was declared as a medium of instruction at school level officially in 2009 and college levels. But teachers at most of the schools practice code-switching while teaching English in the classrooms. For the last five years, English medium of instruction is now in practice, so keeping all the reviewed in the literature ahead, the current study attempted to examine the teachers' reflections about effects of English language as a medium of instruction at elementary level by surveying about the use of English language as medium of instruction at primary level. The earlier studies reviewed mostly about the implementation of English as a medium of instruction particularly regarding the hurdles and obstacles. As linguists working in language teaching in the classroom setting have meaningfully extended the scope of their research to redress the fundamental areas of classroom practices connected with teaching/learning of English as a medium of instruction. Moreover, the current study has significant suggestions for educational research for pointing out the loopholes and drawbacks in terms of English language implementation as instructional goal. The data was analyzed using SPSS version 21. The study concluded with some suggestions and pedagogical implication to the Policy makers, higher authorities and National accreditation for teacher education in Vehari and Pakistan.
