Dominated by a "neither Left nor Right" ideology, the French Green Party stood politically isolated during the first ten years of its existence. In 1997, it negotiated an electoral agreement with the Socialist Party & subsequently joined a coalition government. Five years after the beginning of the "Majorite plurielle" experiment, it appears that the Green Party has gained few tangible results from the alliance: in many fields there were no clear changes in French environmental policies. However, a survey conducted among members of the Green Party shows general satisfaction with the alliance with the Socialist Party. 5 Tables, 1 Figure, 17 References. Adapted from the source document.
