To demonstrate that the Encyclical Aeterni Patris is relevant today, Msgr. Derisi examines the loss of the reality of knowledge in contemporary philosophy, and studies some particular consequences of this loss. He shows the importance - the urgency - of recovering the reality of this knowledge, and thus the importance of St. Thomas' teaching on this point. Philosophy, from the beginning of the modern age, has disconnected the intelligence from its object, which is transcendental being or truth. It has thus stripped it of its ruling function - of which his Holiness Leo XIII spoke - in moral and practical activity, including political, economical and social aspects. Disastrous moral and social consequences inevitably follow this dismantling of the intelligence. The validity of St. Thomas' doctrine stems from its being knowledge which, rather than being organised a priori, is based on the very demands made by the truth of being. It is the transparent expression of transubjective reality, grasped as reality is in itself, in its ontological exigencies. St. Thomas details the way in which the human mind, which has no intuition or direct apprehension of real being as it is in itself, grasps transcendental being as such, in the interior of its immanent act: by means of the objective concept abstracted from its notes, and then integrated into real being by means of the judgment. On the solid foundation of transcendental being, present in the initial judgment of existence, the intelligence - always founded on the immediate apprehension of being - elaborates judgments, which develop the content of the essences (as happens, for example, in mathematical theorems) and formulates reasonings, which permit it to apprehend with ever greater amplitude and to establish itself with ever greater profundity in the immediate formal objects of the intelligence. From these it comes to apprehend other beings, not subject to its immediate apprehension, but required ontologically and essentially by them, as their principles and causes, to found and explain their essence and existence. The intellect thus arrives, illuminated always by the light or truth of transcendental being, apprehended in its essence and existence, to the Being of itself transcendent, unparticipated and infinite, first Cause of all other being in its essence and existence.

En este trabajo intentamos aportar, en el marco de referencia de la Teoría del Acontecimiento Didáctico (TAcDi), al tratamiento del cuerpo como presencia-ausencia en la enseñanza, en torno al saber que allí es posible producir. Exploramos para ello la noción de "pulsión" y sus variaciones en la obra de Freud, a partir de lo cual incorporamos una visión triádica: representación consciente (Imaginario), desplazamiento inconsciente (Simbólico) y angustia (Real). Esta visión triádica abre interesantes perspectivas para trabajar en una teoría de la enseñanza que enfatice la cuestión del saber sin establecerse en términos cognitivistas.

One of the effects of assuming this situationality is explored in this article from the notion of provincializing Europe (suggested by Chakrabarty) as a displacement and epistemic and political decentering of hyperreal Europe. Holocaust literature is an artistic expression, which in many ways sits outside the established understandings of literature and its purpose. The Holocaust itself was an event so unique in its complexities that it separated from other historic atrocities. The Holocaust is not just a historical event. It affected psychology, sociology, politics, innovation, medicine, engineering, ethics, morality, and artistic expressions. Throughout this essay, I will argue the case for Holocaust literature: what exactly is it, what unique challenges does it face as a genre, how it is evolving, and how best to read it. Authors in this genre have a great responsibility to present factual information through the use of prose. This is particularly of concern as survivors die and new voices emerge, whether they are the children of survivors or not. The telling of the many stories of the Holocaust can help us all become witnesses of a human tragedy that, although highly secretive and manipulative of language, emotions, and events, affected the entire world.

Five years ago, Maristella Svampa summoned four Latin American colleagues to reflect on the "coloniality of knowledge" in Latin America, starting from a premise and two subsequent questions. The premise: "Many authors have insisted that one of the fundamental features of Latin American social theory is its intellectual or epistemic dependence on the concepts and theoretical frameworks developed in central countries. Some have given theoretical status to this dependence through the concept of "coloniality of knowledge." The questions: "What does it mean to think about social sciences from Latin America in the 21st century in the framework of advanced modernity and in the current system of domination? Is there a Latin American perspective to think about current problems from the framework of social theory? " Part of the answers to these questions will try to be addressed in this article. ; Hace un lustro, Maristella Svampa convocó a cuatro colegas latinoamericanos a reflexionar sobre la "colonialidad del saber" en América Latina partiendo de una premisa y de dos preguntas subsecuentes. La premisa: "Muchos autores han insistido en que uno de los rasgos fundamentales de la teoría social latinoamericana es su dependencia intelectual o epistémica respecto de los conceptos y marcos teóricos elaborados en los países centrales. Algunos han dado estatus teórico a dicha dependencia a través del concepto "colonialidad del saber". Las preguntas: "¿Qué significa pensar las ciencias sociales desde América Latina en el siglo XXI en el marco de la modernidad avanzada y en el actual sistema de dominación? ¿Existe una perspectiva latinoamericana para pensar las problemáticas actuales desde el marco de la teoría social?" Parte de las respuestas a estas preguntas intentaran ser abordadas en este artículo.

Cascardi takes up this fundamental question in Cervantes, Literature, and the Discourse of Politics, a comprehensive analysis of the presence of politics in Don Quixote. Cascardi argues that when public speech is constrained, as it was in seventeenth-century Spain, politics must be addressed indirectly, including through comedy, myth, and travellers' tales. Cervantes, Literature, and the Discourse of Politics convincingly reengages the ancient roots of political theory in modern literature by situating Cervantes within a long line of political thinkers. Cascardi notably connects Cervantes' political theory to Plato's, much as the writer's literary criticism has been firmly linked to Aristotle's. He also shows how Cervantes' view of literature provided a compelling alternative to the modern, scientific politics of Machiavelli and Hobbes, highlighting the potential interplay of literature and politics in an ideal state."--P. This paper investigates the content and the different «dimensions» of «quality» in the current «policies of knowledge» of the European Union as they are specified by the renewed Lisbon Strategy and in the frame of the construction of a «measurable Europe of Knowledge». The study analyses critically the policy discourses and policy practices of the European Union from 1994 to 2010 using both primary (e.g. official documents) and secondary (e.g. scholarly articles, studies and research) sources. It consists of four sections: The first section refers to the current constructions of quality discourse in the European context (e.g. globalization, knowledge economies and GATS, new public management, new governance, etc.). In the second section, we examine the integration of «quality» in the EU's discourses and policies (Treaties, Action Programs as well as in the general, vocational and higher education initiatives). The third section reviews the quality discourse in the context of the late EU's policy processes (Lisbon, Bologna and Copenhagen). In the final section we put forward a critical reading of the «audit/ quality» nexus based on a «policy by numbers» technocratic-managerial rationale aiming at the construction of a measurable «Europe of knowledge».Este artículo investiga el contenido y las diferentes «dimensiones» de «calidad» en las actuales «políticas de conocimiento» de la Unión Europea, del modo en que están especificadas por la renovada «Estrategia de Lisboa» y en el marco de la construcción de una «Europa del Conocimiento Medible ». El estudio analiza en profundidad los discursos políticos y las prácticas políticas de la Unión Europea desde 1994 hasta 2010, utilizando a la vez fuentes primarias (por ejemplo, documentos oficiales) y secundarias (por ejemplo, artículos, estudios e investigación académicos). Consta de cuatro secciones: La primera sección se refiere a las actuales construcciones del discurso sobre la calidad en el contexto Europeo (por ejemplo, globalización, economía del conocimiento, la nueva gestión pública, nuevos gobiernos, etc.). en la segunda sección, examinamos la integración de la «calidad» en los discursos y políticas de la UE (Tratados, Programas de Acción así como las iniciativas generales, vocacionales de la educación superior). This article starts with a question: What can literature do as to those events in the past related to pain? In order to construct an answer, the nodal points of the Derridean theory of the archive are revised. Within this theory the concepts of reste, ruin, cinder, trace, biodegradability, monstrosity, spectre, inheritance, literature, archive fever and democracy-to-come cooperate both in the deconstruction of totalizing searches and also in the foundation of a new policy of the archive and of memory in a dialogue with literature - that discourse which, renouncing to speak from the truth, obtains another kind of power with which it gathers strength. ; Este artículo se abre con una pregunta: ¿Qué puede la literatura respecto de aquellos sucesos del pasado ligados al dolor? Para construir una respuesta se revisan los puntos nodales de la teoría del archivo producida por Jacques Derrida desde la filosofía. Teoría en la que los conceptos de resto, ruina, ceniza, huella, biodegradabilidad, monstruosidad, espectro, herencia, literatura, mal de archivo y democracia por venir cooperan tanto en la desconstrucción de búsquedas totalizantes como en la fundación de una nueva política del archivo y de la memoria en diálogo con la literatura: ese discurso que, renunciando a hablar desde la verdad, gana otro poder desde el que construye su fuerza.
