In this paper we present the painted pottery from the second half of the first millennium BCE recovered during the excavations undertaken in the Castle of Castro Marim between 1983-1988 and 2001-2003. Based on the formal, productive and stylistic analysis of these pieces, we discuss also the cultural, economic and politic integration of ancient Baesuris in pre-roman times, and especially its relation – and more broadly that of the Algarve region – with Gadir.
; In many contexts of ancient Syria, recurring processes leading to the concentration of people in urban centers and their dispersal in smaller settlements, or through mobile practices and/or residential flexibility, are attested. Although in the past the successive crises of cities, urbanism and the State have been related to the decrease of agglomeration and to the population dispersal, the issue appears more complex and diversified when focused on specific situations. By following the spatial and socio-political conditions of the Jabbul and Jazr plains, in Inner Syria, from the Late Bronze Age to Iron Age II, it becomes apparent that, although processes of agglomeration and dispersal are visible, they do not match some usual narratives regarding the settlement patterns of these periods. Also, it will be argued that the spatial conditions of the different contexts, including the agglomeration and dispersal of people, impacted on the social and political practices of human groups.

Babylonian narû, traditionally named kudurrētu, were stone monuments with divine representations (generally through its divine emblems) and figurative scenes with anthropomorphic figures, together with an administrative text about a land grant. These narû originated in Kassite Babylon and were being used until Neo-Babylonian Period (ca. 1400-650 a.C.). The majority of them have been discovered in Susa without contextualizing, because the items which have been found in situ tell us that their original placement was Southern Mesopotamia. In this paper, the main aim is to study the narû corpus, currently formed by 178 items, in a interdisciplinar way, that is to say, analyzing the information which their texts, iconography, materiality, archaeological context, etc. give us. This is the reason why the author of this article will try to define the corpus according to their own inscriptions and according to the main previous studies of several scholars on this subject. Then, the circumstances which could cause the rising and the historical and political events which could affect their development will be studied, together with the geographical context which they expand on. Subsequently, the content of their inscripctions and symbology of their iconography will be analyzed in a comparative approach. Finally, the main results of this research will be shown in a conclusions paragraph. Babylonian narû, traditionally named kudurrētu, were stone monuments with divine representations (generally through its divine emblems) and figurative scenes with anthropomorphic figures, together with an administrative text about a land grant. During the Late Bronze Age, a complex network of economic interactions constituted of various semi-independent political entities, yet economically interdependent, existed in the Lower Qishon. We conducted a comparative analysis of plainwares from different sites along the Lower Qishon to identify how they interacted during the LBA. We also performed a comparative study of the maritime-imported ceramics to uncover the maritime connections of the network. We conclude that the Lower Qishon network linked the southern Akko/Haifa Bay with the northwestern Jezreel Valley. On land, the network was in contact with Tel Hazor and the Transjordan. At sea, it was directly connected with Syro-Lebanese and Cypriote coastal sites and indirectly with Egypt, coastal Anatolia, and the Aegean.
; This paper offers some thoughts about the origins of the cremation burials that begin to appear at the South-East of the Iberian Peninsula at the beginning of the first millenum B.C. After some centuries without any significant funerary evidence, some inhumation and cremation burials are detected, and this last ritual will finally develop to be the exclusive one among the local communities. These ideological transformations are considered as an internal processus related with the political and economical contexts of the Iberian populations.

; The development of the oppida, large Late Iron Age agglomerations, is one of the most notable phenomena of European Protohistory, and also one of the most studied. However, the research of recent decades currently offers us a new insight into their origin, characteristics and functions. In addition to purely economic aspects, recent studies emphasize the important political and religious role played by these centres. Similarly, the discovery of a growing number of large open agglomerations shows that settlement structure was much more complex than traditionally thought. In this article I shall try to deconstruct some quite firmly entrenched myths, propose numerous qualifications and offer an at least partially alternative view on the oppida of Temperate Europe.

The sintering process involves a large number of parameters, more than 500, each of which exerts a greater or lesser influence and needs to be controlled, within the possible limits, in order to optimise productivity, process stability, and standardise the composition and quality of the sinter produced. To comply with environmental legislation, a pollution control system must monitor the particle matter and gases generated and emitted into the atmosphere by the sinter plant. Automation and control systems are vital tools to assist plant operators in the monitoring of each stage of the sinter production process.
; Between 1300 and 900 BCE the regions of Syria and Palestine experienced a series of disruptions and rearrangements, especially in the political scene. Further, the traditionally accepted historiographical view indicates that a radical change in socio-political structures occurred, marking a transition from territorial polities to "national" or ethnic polities. The discussion offered in this paper aims at challenging such a view and observing the fundamental permanence, after the twelfth century crisis, of hierarchical structures based on kinship and patronage; socio-political structures which informed the basic internal and external dynamics of the local kingdoms. Lastly, it is presented a hypothesis concerning the relevance of political attachment and subordination for the creation of ethnic identities in the Iron Age Levant.
