War Philosophy in Late Antiquity: The Neoplatonic Tradition ; Filosofía de la guerra en la Antigüedad Tardía. La tradición neoplatónica
The nature of war philosophy in Late Antiquitiy remains largely unexplored. Nevertheless, the analysis of warfare and the military constitutes a philosophical constant since Plato. For instance, in The Republic and The Laws Plato examines extensively the military establishment, its training, education and the composition of the army. Perhaps the greatest philosopher in Middle Platonism is Onesander, known for his military treatise Strategikos, where he takes a close look at the characteristics and knowledge a good general should possess. This philosophical tradition of analyzing the theoretical and practical aspects of warfare was taken up in Late Antiquity by the Neoplatonic philosophers. They explored the nature of war, what its goal, features and properties are; its ethical and behavioral aspects, focusing on the related virtues, its link with state rulers and whether or not it functions as a governing tool and how it differs from peace. War tends to be defined cosmologically as a manifestation on the political plane of the tension and conflict between opposites elements of the world. It is also conceived as an intervention meant to restore the previous, now-lost balance. In later works it has even been explored in terms of substrates, with each competing element attempting to occupy the opposing substrates. Hence, starting from the classical precedents of Plato and Onesander, these aspects in primary sources by Porphyry, Proclus, Olympiodorus and Themistius, among other contributions, will be analyzed in relation with Platonism's own tradition in order to reconstruct the philosophical approach to warfare during Late Antiquity.

Introduction. Barbarians and Saints: War in the Late Antiquity ; Presentación.

In this paper we analyze the reality of the cities of late antique Hispania, as well as the proliferation of the villae, a phenomena, which among others, is related to the tax burden imposed on citizens of the time. Using a multidisciplinary approach, this paper contextualizes the regulation of life in the urban and rural centers of Hispania, which were subject to numerous transformations, frozen in time, both from a historical perspective as well as archaeological, sociological, religious and legal point of view, while also demonstrating how the military was disorganized and unable to resolve problems on the borders. This paper also includes in its conclusions some necessary final reflections on this historic moment.

Considerations on archaeology, linguistics and rock churches of Late Antiquity ; Reflexiones sobre arqueología, lingüística e iglesias rupestres de época tardoantigua
Late Antiquity is one of the most debated periods in the history of Wasconia. This text deals with some of these debates: the original or late-adopted condition of the Basque language in the current territories of the Basque Country, the historical interpretations of the custom of depositing grave goods, or the chronology of the rock churches of southern Álava. The idea of Basque territories as frontier spaces is highlighted, understood as an unstable and permeable area of human mobility; as a space for negotiation, alliance, exchange; as a liminal place between cultures and political powers; as «margins» whose signifying quality is their political, anthropological, cultural or linguistic creativity.

The Concept of θεῖος ἀνήρ in Late Antiquity.
The aim of this paper is to put forward a new definitional frame of the concept of divine man —θεῖος ἀνήρ— in Late Antiquity. Firstly, we justify the necessity of conducting a new research upon new hypothesis and upon the base of the previous criticism on the concept of divine man in the historical-religious, theoretical and methodological context. Thus we display our fieldwork to, finally, set forth our definition which we redefine upon the basis of five categories —mystical, ascetical, magical, social and political— which we consider refer to the most relevant areas interest in the life and deeds of a holy man —as they appear on the ancient sources. With this proposal, and redefining this very concept, we aim to open new paths of research on pagan and Christian holy men. The aim of this paper is to put forward a new definitional frame of the concept of divine man —θεῖος ἀνήρ— in Late Antiquity. Evolución de las ciudades portuarias durante la Antigüedad Tardía: el ejemplo de los Campos Flegreos ; Evolution of the port cities during the Late Antiquity: the example of the Flegreos Fields
; The transformations that the cities lived during the period of the Late Antiquity determined their continuity and survival. The partition of the Armenian Kingdom between the romans and the sasanians at the end of IV A.D. guaranteed to the government of the Shahanshah the administration of his oriental regions. To assure the control of such dominion, the Persian sovereign advanced with the administrative integration of that regions. The solution implemented was based in the appointment of a series of marzbans (military commanders) in charge of the defense and administration of the Persian Armenia. Those dignitaries always find themselves in a delicate situation. In a political level, thanks to the frontier reality of the territories under their control. Poetry, dogma and politics in Late Antiquity: the case of Venancio Fortunato and the Carmina Figurata ; Poesía, dogma y política en la antigüedad tardía: el caso de venancio fortunato y los carmina figurata
Venantius Fortunatus was a Late Antique aristocratic male, formed in the schools of grammar and rhetoric, he joined the Christian religious life without abandoning its status of court poet and hagiographer. Fortunatus, of Italian origin, became "troubadour" throughout Gaul, to stop linking to the monastic experience of Poitiers, strategic enclave where he reached the Episcopal office. His carmina are a testament to the political and ideological context in which moved as a builder of affective and social networks, in addition to revealing the persistence of the Greco-Roman tradition, to which Christianity transformed with new contents and experiences of life.
