Subscription for the academy is filled and has contracted with Joseph Emerson for putting up quarters; hopes to have the academy in operation by September 1, 1820; land is south of the meeting house and is subscribed by the heirs of Major Hatch; explains terms of payment to subscribers; gives course of studies; would like to annex a law school to the academy; went to New York in November to have his portrait painted by (and at the request of) Mr. Vanderlyn for deposit in the National Gallery in Philadelphia, which place it reached on 20 January. ; Transcription by Cameron Myette and Alison Horner.
