This article analyzes the proposal announced by President George W. Bush, on August i6, 2004, to significantly change the US overseas military basing posture. This proposal, labeled Global Posture Review, would, if implemented, represent the most extensive reordering of US military troops overseas in the last 50 years. The current US global basing arrangements are still a product of the Cold War & the main idea behind the administration proposal is to adapt its global posture to the new challenges to peace & international security in the 21st century. Objective: To describe the reproductive, socioeconomic and demographic characteristics of women aged 15-49 years, from team 023 at the Health Unity Laurides Lima Milhomem. Methods: Documental with quantitativedescriptive approach, the population was composed by 1132 women and the sample by 207, with questionnaire application after search database in health records. Results: From 68,6% of women aged between 26 to 40 years, 86.5% have an official partner, 48,5% with more than two children, and an acceptable birth interval. 38,5% hadn't intended the pregnancies, but 88,5% had desired it. 61,9% knew about family planning, but 43,0% used this tool. The most cited method was oral contraceptive. 62,2% of the partners have never participated in the family planning. Conclusions: Improving the family planning strategy whose information passed on to the community are not sufficient for the use of contraception and therefore avoid the high levels of unplanned pregnancy.
