The present text, whose title is "The camp as nomos biopolitic of modernity and the figure of the Muslin", has the general objective of examining the notion of camp as biopolitical in modernity, according to the statements of Giorgio Agamben's work, highlighting the figure of the Muslim as its inhabitant and as a paradigm of the naked life (nuda vita) in opposition to the form-of-life. In order to achieve the proposed goal, we began by approaching the concepts of bare life and biopolitics in Agamben, indicating some of its interlocutors such as Michel Foucault and Hannah Arendt. Next, we analyze the concept of field, which characterizes the state of permanent exception in modernity, and the figure of the Muslim, within him. Finally, we present brief considerations about the enigmatic notion of form-of-life, with hyphen as opposed to naked life, insofar as one renders inoperative the politicization of life (zoé), biopolitics.
; This article, by excavating narratives, suggests the reading of lifestyles and beliefs shared in the difference. By shedding light in the idea of culture as a signifying practice, the review of accounts given by an Iraqi leader of a trip to Brazil (1865) calls into question narratives about a cultural-political dispute sparked off by Afro-Muslims in Bahia in 1835. Considering a movement fraught with intermingled cultures and processes of inventing the other, the review highlights a plot of relationships and uses of power and knowledge. The reflection suggests to media and culture researchers that narratives, in its distinct forms, might be understood as constitutive of a political/esthetical process of producing of identities.

In this essay, we are mostly interested in Islamism as a phenomenon that affects the European epistemic community dealing with security issues. As Raymond Aron often remarked, the work of the political scientist is about destroying the myths that surround both politicians and intellectuals. According to this, we aim to clarify the language and the narratives used in the current debate on European Islamism. Hence, we will divide our essay into three parts: codification of the general characteristics of Islamism as an ideology; description of how European Islamism acts among European societies; and finally we develop an analytical perspective on the issue, by refusing the dominant paradigm, which we believe too biased by an excess of communitarian and religious identity. This article examines the evolution of Portuguese colonial policies regarding Islam in Guinea and Mozambique. Such policies turned from an image of Muslim as foe to a more reconciling picture, in which Muslims could be presented as potential allies of the Portuguese power in the war against nationalist movements. The article analyses those strategies and the actors that were behind them: the Catholic Church, the core of political power and its local ramifications in the colonies. In the last years several Western corporations from the financial sector, including banks, insurance companies, & rating agencies, begun to offer on the market financial products in conformity with the prescriptions of Islamic Shari'a. At the beginning, the targets were only the Arab & the Islamic markets mainly in the Middle East. More recently, this trend also extended to the Western market, targeting both the liquidity of Arab investors & the Muslim populations of Europe & North America with "ethical" products. Thus, the main objective of this paper is discussing, in a broad way, what is at stake with the expansion of the Islamic finance to the Western societies. The analysis will connect this business trend with other general developments, particularly with Islamism (political Islam), & the Western relativism & multiculturalism. The final purpose is to make an assessment of the possible consequences for the democratic & secular societies of the West. Adapted from the source document.
