Die Stadt Linz kann in Bezug auf den Umgang mit der NS-Geschichte auf besondere Umstände zurückblicken. Einerseits wurden seit den 90er Jahren verstärkt wissenschaftliche Forschungen publiziert. Andererseits musste sich die Stadtpolitik in den Jahren vor 2009 Kritik am Umgang mit NS-Relikten gefallen lassen ? besonders von Seiten der Kunstszene. Eine Prämisse der Auswahljury der europäischen Kulturhauptstädte veranlasste die 2006 gegründete Linz09 GmbH dazu, die Besprechung der NS-Zeit in einem eigenen Programpunkt ?Linz-Gedächtnis? zu fixieren.Diese Arbeit widmet sich der Frage, wie die Projekte ?Kulturhauptstadt des Führers?, In Situ und Unter Uns, die alle drei eine starke Präsenz im öffentlichen Raum der Stadt Linz hatten, in der medialen Öffentlichkeit dargestellt und kritisiert wurden. Durch eine Analyse der Berichterstattung über die Projekte fällt auf, dass besonders die Ausstellung ?Kulturhauptstadt des Führers?, die das Eröffnungsprojekt des Kulturhauptstadtjahres war, für starke mediale Resonanz sorgte. Die Projekte In Situ und Unter Uns fanden direkt im öffentlichen Raum der Stadt Linz statt. Die beiden scheinen weniger mediale Aufmerksamkeit auf sich gezogen zu haben als das Eröffnungsprojekt. Die Kritiken in den Berichten, Leser_innenbriefen und Kommentaren fallen bei den drei Projekten in ihren Argumentationen sehr unterschiedlich aus.Letztendlich kann festgehalten werden, dass der Sonderstatus des Kulturhauptstadtjahres die Diskussionen um den Umgang mit der NS-Vergangenheit verstärkt hat. Es war die Möglichkeit gegeben, sich mit neuen Methoden mit der NS-Zeit auseinanderzusetzen (In Situ, Unter Uns), gleichzeitig war Linz durch das Rampenlicht des Kulturhauptstadtjahres um ein besonders gutes Image bemüht, das manche durch die Form der öffentlichen Auseinandersetzung mit der NS-Zeit gefährdet sahen. ; When the city Linz was decided to be cultural capital of Europe for 2009 it should deal with its rather recent history. The three projects ?Kulturhauptstadt des Führers?, Unter Uns and In Situ picked the time of National Socialism as their central theme. This paper deals with the presentation and the reception of these three projects. The newly founded Linz09 GmbH, an enterprise that should organize the cultural program of the year 2009, decided independently in what way the presentation of the National Socialism should take place. The exhibition ?Kulturhauptstadt des Führers? was the first project with the label Linz09, symbolizing the cultural capital of Europe. The two other projects were site specific sculptures, one could hardly miss, in the middle of the city.Explaining by different debates that took place in daily newspapers in the cultural capital Linz, I want to show how wide spread the arguments of the critics were. On the one hand ? being the cultural capital ? Linz had more possibilities (especially financially) to show the time of National Socialism, on the other hand the international attention grew and therefor the interests of the media in Linz and its past.Being mostly concerned with the image and the reputation of Linz in Europe and the world, the politicians and some of the inhabitants of Linz had mixed feelings in presenting the ?unwanted? past. Thedissolution of the German party system during the Weimar Republic was well advanced long before either the world economic crisis descended upon Germany with all of its intensity in the early 1930s or the National Socialists scored their first decisive breakthrough into the ranks of Germany's middle-class parties. While both the onset of the depression and the rise of National Socialism greatly accelerated the dissolution of Germany's bourgeois parties, their principal effect was not so much to catalyze this process as to intensify disintegrative factors that had been present ever since the founding of the Weimar Republic. The ultimate cause of the dissolution of the bourgeois party system during the Weimar Republic lay precisely in the inability of established bourgeois parties such as the German Democratic Party (Deutsche Demokratische Parteior DDP), the German People's Party (Deutsche Volksparteior DVP), the German National People's Party (Deutsdmationale Volksparteior DNVP), and to a somewhat lesser extent the German Center Party (Deutsche Zentrumspartei) to integrate the diverse and increasingly antagonistic social and economic interests which constituted their material base into a viable and effective social force. The emergence of special-interest parties in the second half of the 1920s bore dramatic testimony to the failure of Germany's nonsocialist parties to provide the more traditional elements of the German middle class with the effective political representation they needed in order to maintain their social and economic position in the face of mounting economic adversity. Not only did the formation of such parries reflect the process of social and political decay that was at work within the German party system, but the increasing fragmentation of Germany's established bourgeois parties greatly facilitated the penetration of National Socialism into the ranks of the German middle strata.

The author argues that Central-Eastern European countries after quitting the system of socialism show more divergences than traits in common. At the first free elections communist parties failed and then a "left wave" came. In the second half of the 90s the country experienced a "right wave".And the situation in the Czech Republic was different. The status of the "left" party int he Czech Republic was unchangeable, extreme or moderate. At the elections it got a little number of votes, but during all post-communist years it enters the parliament. Other political parliamentary parties in the Czech Republic delimit themselves from the CPBM (The Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia) and quite reluctantly cooperate with communists.

Auf unsere Erinnerungskultur sind viele Deutsche stolz. Tatsächlich aber diente sie oft nur der eigenen Entlastung. Und sie hat unser Geschichtsbewusstsein verengt. Per Leo weitet es wieder, indem er den Blick öffnet: in die USA und zur DDR, nach Israel und Polen, zurück in eine unaufgeräumte Vergangenheit, nach vorne in ein unvollkommenes Einwanderungsland. Neben dem Holocaust zählt die "Euthanasie" zu den großen NS-Massenverbrechen. In diesem Band werden die Verflechtungen der beiden Verbrechenskomplexe auf Basis neuester Forschungsergebnisse intensiv untersucht. Die Zusammenhänge zwischen der nationalsozialistischen "Euthanasie" und dem Holocaust sind noch immer nicht vollständig erforscht. Der Sammelband, zu dem namhafte Forscherinnen und Forscher beigetragen haben, beschäftigt sich mit den Beziehungen zwischen den beiden Mordprogrammen. Er benennt Kontinuitäten, Kausalitäten und parallele Entwicklungen. Dabei geht es um Themen wie Biopolitik, Eugenik und Zwangssterilisation, die Judenverfolgung in der Vorkriegszeit, die Morde im Rahmen der "Aktion T4", die Krankenmorde in den Konzentrationslagern und im besetzten Polen, die "Aktion Reinhardt" sowie die justizielle Ahndung der Verbrechen nach 1945. Die Untersuchungen erweitern unser Verständnis von den Verbrechen im Nationalsozialismus insgesamt und speziell zum Verhältnis von "Euthanasie" und Holocaust.

Between 1940 and 1945, German occupiers transformed Norway into a vast construction zone.
