Mit der Präsentation ihrer »Frankreichstrategie« hat die saarländische Landesregierung überregional für Aufsehen gesorgt. Dass das Nachbarland Frankreich für das Saarland politisch und wirtschaftlich eine große Bedeutung hat, ist kaum bestreitbar. Doch wie realistisch sind die Zielsetzungen der Frankreichstrategie - und was können Wissenschaft und Gesellschaft dazu beitragen, die Potenziale der Grenzregion auszuschöpfen?Dieser Band befasst sich mit den vielfältigen Handlungsfeldern der saarländisch-französischen Zusammenarbeit und diskutiert die saarländische Frankreichstrategie im Kontext großregionaler, nationaler, europäischer und globaler Prozesse.

National audience ; Governments worldwide are increasingly concerned about the booming use of CBD (cannabidiol) products. However, we know little about the impact of their liberalization. We study a unique case of unintended liberalization of a CBD-based product (light cannabis) that occurred in Italy in 2017. Using unique and high-frequency data on prescription drug sales and by exploiting the staggered local availability of the new product in each Italian province, we document a significant substitution effect between light cannabis and anxiolytics, sedatives, opioids, anti-depressants and anti-psychotics. Results are informative for regulators and suggest that bans on light cannabis use would disregard the needs of patients to seek effective reliefs of their symptoms.

El movimiento indígena ecuatoriano pudo posicionarse desde 1990 en el ambiente político nacional e internacional con un discurso original que combina aspectos clasistas con aspectos identitarios alrededor de los conceptos de interculturalidad y plurinacionalidad. Este discurso se define por ser crítico a la estructura colonial de la sociedad y del Estado en el Ecuador, que describe como racista y excluyente. Con las propuestas de un Estado plurinacional y una sociedad intercultural ofrece alternativas hacia la Colonialidad imperante que pueden ser descritos como decoloniales. Siguiendo a la teoría de la Colonialidad del Poder que Aníbal Quijano desarrolló, el presente texto va a analizar los contenidos decoloniales de estas propuestas. El surgimiento del movimiento indígena como actor político plenamente visible a partir del levantamiento indígena del Inti Raymi en 1990 vino acompañado con una serie de demandas que giran alrededor de los conceptos de interculturalidad y plurinacionalidad. Desde el movimiento indígena, estos conceptos se extendieron hacia otros movimientos sociales y partidos políticos y finalmente se integraron en el discurso general de la sociedad. Una muestra de este desarrollo es la reforma constitucional de 1996 y la Constitución de 1998 que declaran al Ecuador un Estado "pluricultural y multiétnico" (Art. 1) y, aún más, la actual Constitución de 2008 donde el Estado aparece como "intercultural, plurinacional" (Art. 1). En este artículo, se pretende analizar los conceptos de interculturalidad y plurinacionalidad en el contexto de una lucha contra la desigualdad económica, política y cultural en la sociedad ecuatoriana y los múltiples intentos de liberarse de ella. "This book will introduce how the Internet can be used to assess market trends and public opinion before the slower and far more expensive, traditional government reports and Gallup polls are published. It could be similar to having a real-time "Dow Jones" index for buzz about a company or confidence in the economy. The book will talk about how to take this raw data and validate it using some traditional methods without relying on them entirely in the future. It will discuss how this will eventually effect business and government in a much broader sense. For example, this tool allows for a new kind of real-time decision analysis that will greatly improve productivity. Pulse will describe how most major decisions are made on information that was actually available quite a long time prior to the beginning of the analysis of the decision, nevermind the decision itself. But real-time information about socio-economic trends and public opinion will allow for a kind of "programmed trading" for some decisions similar to how trading firms automate buying and selling. Specific examples include: Specific examples will incude: A Canadian epidemiologist tracked Google searches on the phrase "flu sympoms". He used this information to track flu outbreaks faster than the Canadian health authorizes could keep up. His success later inspired Google's "Flu Trends" tool. Researchers at HP labs showed how tracking Twitter comments about upcoming movies could reliably predict box office success better than any other method. It will show how the number of Google searches nationwide on the term "unemployment" (publically available through "Google trends") tracks very closely to Bearue of Labor Statistics (BLS) unemployment reports. The difference is that BLS releases its data monthly after samply 60,000 households while Google trends data is available weekly and for free. Research by Carnegie Mellon students show that tracking Twitter comments produces nearly the same results for consumer confidence and political polls as Gallup polls would produce - except that the results are real-time and free. I'll introduce the possibility that even tracking auctions on ebay, ranks of books on Amazon, or job-seeking websites may become the new way to track real time data about the economy and trends in public opnion. LA County detected (with 85% accuracy) collusive fraud rings in public assistance programs based onn analysis of links in social networks. "Semantic" analysis tools are even being developed to process thousands of blogs and Facebook comments that could be used to assess security threats like potential terrorism."--

This book presents comparative analyses of different modes of the governance of religious diversity and state-religion connections and relations in twenty-three countries in five world regions: Western Europe, Southern and South-Eastern Europe, Central and Eastern Europe, the MENA region, and South and Southeast Asia. Debates and controversies around the governance of religious diversity have become important features of the social and political landscape in different regions and countries across the world. The historical influences and legacies, and the contemporary circumstances provoking these debates vary between contexts, and there have been a range of state and scholarly responses to how, and why, particular understandings and arrangements of state-religion relations should be preferred over others. The analyses of country cases and regions presented in this volume are based on extensive reviews of secondary literature, of legal and policy landscapes, and in some cases on interviews. A 'new spirit of hospitality' beckons planetary provenances of leisure and pleasure, to promote tourism destinations through the digitization and cinematic advertising of tourist experience. While releasing identities, populations, and environments from their geographical and political isolation, this new spirit may rob them of their ability to communicate cultural diversity on their own terms.
