This theoretical article consists on an evaluation of de Daniela Arbex's journalistic investigation about the Colônia Hospital's operation in Barbacena, Minas Gerais, as from the thinker Michel Foucault's biopolitics analyses. This institution's internment process represents, from the foucaultians researches about the deal with madness on modern Europe, a solid example of the biopolitics' operation in Brazil, more specifically with regard to its groundwork "make live and let die". We compare the therapeutic care project own medical knowledge with the procedures used in this internment environment on Brazil twentieth century. Thus, we approached the split to State racism when the Colônia takes on the function not anymore of "let die", but of "make die", among biopower techniques. Lastly, we considered the role of the anti-asylum fighting organizes in Brazil, on the 1990's decade as alternative to internment, however ends up promoting, on its turn, other normalizations.
; This qualitative research study, which involved interviews with black women victims of domestic violence, was aimed at verifying if there were any inscriptions of the ideal of whiteness introjected in their subjectivities and at evaluating the contexts in which racism and domestic violence appear in their lives. The importance of this type of study is in highlighting the existence of the myth of racial democracy in Brazil, in its perverse face, by showing how the ego ideal of whiteness is propagated unconsciously through ideology as a way of subjugating the black racial-ethnic group to the dominant one. The study emphasizes the high rate of domestic violence against black women and the urgency of public policies for the prevention of these crimes and the protection of the victims.
; Abstract This paper summarizes part of the doctoral research on quilombo Maria Rosa, one of the first rural black communities in the state of São Paulo to be granted a quilombola land title. The aim is to understand whether, within that community, land titling public policy operates as a mechanism to counter racism. To reach the proposed objectives, observations and interviews were carried out based on the formulations of Enrique Pichon-Rivière. Other authors such as René Kaës contributed to the analysis of the material. The study concluded that the policy brings those quilombo residents into contact with the effects of slavery and racism. However, they still lack an adequate support policy integrating different government levels and addressing the issue of racism.
Education has been depicted as the main 'social elevator' to confront the internal inequalities of modern abyssal societies. Roma, as the largest, ancient European minority, are perpetually targeted as a 'sensitive' population in regard to access to and success in basic and higher education, creating a framework where Roma themselves, from an early age, are considered a 'problem'. Academia, scientific research and knowledge production are not isolated from these practices and political/epistemological framework. In this sense, the article unravels its complicity and responsibility in the maintenance of the white order, the modern civilisatory mission toward the racialised bodies and the 'ideology of integration' as the only possible political path. This paper discusses the current academic production of evidence-based research in the field of education in regards to Roma, exploring the semantics and conceptual constructions that frame the discussion related to the Roma experience in the educative system. Furthermore, the article discusses how the conceptual codification of such a framework actually serves to condition intellectual and political approaches that attempt to go beyond the complicit 'ideology of integration' when addressing public and educative policies.
; In this article, I refer to the particularities that anti-racist struggles have adopted in Latin America, a region in which until recently it was thought that racism was an irrelevant issue due to its mixed demographic composition in ethnic-racial terms. In the last thirty years, this perception has been changing due to the recognition of its multiculturalism and, at the same time, of the problems that put in evidence the implementation of the multicultural state project and the neoliberal political and economic development model. At present, we can speak of an anti-racist turn in the region, to designate the greater attention that today is paid to racism in the public sphere, and in that of social movements. I present these reflections from my situated experience, as a Colombian woman and an Afro-Latin American feminist; that is to say, from a place of enunciation and a particular positionality vis-à-vis the issues of racism and anti-racism. In addition, I do it in conversation with the french sociologist Eric Fassin to examine in parallel the challenges that anti-racist academic work faces today in terms of the place of enunciation that is assumed in it.
This article aims to investigate the intersections of gender/race in the socio-spatial trajectories of black filmmakers, with a view to understanding the strategies they use to face racism and sexism, in their filmmaking and in their leisure experiences. The research is based on the contributions of decolonial thought, intersectional black feminism, critical studies of leisure and cinema. The methodology of this qualitative research included a bibliographic study and in-depth interviews with seven black filmmakers, which were analyzed using the Discourse of the Collective Subject-DSC technique. The main strategies that have the power of meaning to face racism and sexism in filmmaking and in the leisure experiences of the interviewees are the narratives of themselves, participation in associations of black collectives and film festivals with a black theme and the experience of a "differentiated leisure", which can be critically enjoyed, even if it is necessary to advance towards subverting the social, cultural and political reality established in our context. In conclusion, the socio-spatial trajectories of black filmmakers unveil inequalities aiming to break with the stereotyped social imaginary, reaffirming the relevance of an "unsubmissive leisure".
This article aims to contribute to the reflection on the phenomenologies of non-identification with the cultural and artistic heritage, namely the architectural and sculptural, installed in the urban public space. Contemporary iconoclastic practices have made the political and media debate aware of the quality and pertinence of cities' aesthetic and artistic transformations. I aim to establish possible relationships between iconoclastic phenomena, contemporary mythography and postcolonial and neo-colonial discursive ways, addressing the social and political issues underlying racism, which may be at the origin of iconoclastic practices against heritage. I conducted a selected review of the scientific literature published in the last 20 years, namely authored by Araújo and Rodrigues (2018), Kilomba (2019; " 'O Racismo É uma Problemática Branca' diz Grada Kilomba", 2016), Maeso (2016), Roldão et al. (2016), Ribeiro (2021), Santos (2003), V. Sousa (2020), Vale de Almeida (2000, 2012), Varela and Pereira (2020), and others. On that basis, I tried to demonstrate how the contemporary art and curatorial artivism within museological institutions contributed to challenging institutional historical narratives and the progressive deconstruction of Lusotropicalist discursive practices, which institute colonialism and slavery as acceptable historical inevitabilities. I found that western hegemonic thinking is based on a false ideological construction of identity, supported by an alleged moral and racial superiority, to justify pursuing a model of economic exploitation structured in cultural domination. I concluded that multiculturalism within cultural institutions, safeguarding cultural diversity and heritage interpretation in the public space, could ensure inclusion and social cohesion, develop feelings of belonging, and mitigate inequalities and violence ; Este artigo tem por objetivo contribuir para a reflexão sobre as fenomenologias da não identificação com o património cultural e artístico, nomeadamente, o arquitetónico ...

Powerful narratives describe Latin American nations as fundamentally mestizo. These narratives have made it difficult to recognize racism in the region, but recent multiculturalist turns have increased recognition of black and indigenous cultures and identities. Multiculturalism can focus on issues of identity and visibility and address unconcerned forms of racism, but it can also divert attention from structural racism and racialized inequality, and thus constrain broader anti-racist initiatives. In addition, multiple understandings of how racism and anti-racism are inserted in projects of social transformation make racism a complex and multifaceted issue. The seven essays in Contra oracismo investigate actors in Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador and Mexico who go beyond the politics of recognition to address structural inequalities and build common ground with other marginalized groups. The organizations in this study advocate an approach to social structural transformation that promotes alliances, is inclusive, and is inspired by a radical imagination.
Sete mulheres participaram do estudo. ; The belief in racial democracy in Brazil has been deconstructed by various indices of social inequality and violence victimization. Although more than 50% of the country's population is black, Brazilian scientific production on racism and mental health is not significant. The subject of race relations is, in general, invisible within the psi sciences. This situation raises the question of how this portion of the population is served in the mental health system, specifically in the psychological clinical service to the black client. The objective of this study was to collect narratives of black persons who had white psychotherapists, regarding their experiences of racism in daily life, as well as to how they were listened to in a biracial dyad in psychotherapy. Seven women took part in the study. Four thematic categories were identified: (1) Reason to seek psychotherapy; (2) Psychotherapeutic process; (3) Associated therapeutic factors, and, (4) Psychotherapist specific training to serve black people. The most important issues, presented by all the interviewees, were the interracial transference in the therapeutic process and the lack of training of the psychotherapist to serve black clients.
