Kuhn's concept of the paradigm which guides research, until it is replaced by a new paradigm, as a result of a revolution marks a new stage in the history of science. What is the background to Kuhn's thinking; what is the real meaning of paradigm; how are scientific revolutions caused; can Kuhn's ideas be applied to the social sciences? These and similar questions are posed in the article.

The controversy between two sets of social work researchers and theorists has the potential to split the profession into warring camps. Both sides have cloaked their arguments in philosophical constructs that may not be familiar to practitioners. This article translates the discussion into straightforward language and suggests that the advocates of the "pure" science approach have the weaker position because they have made a pseudoreligion out of science.

The Science, or as others prefer to call it, the study of international relations is one of the youngest members of the family of the social sciences. Its independent status has not yet been fully recognized by all academic circles and many historians and international lawyers would consider it to be trespassing on their respective fields of study. This is especially true for Europe.

I focus upon the entry-level diplomats to a greater degree than in the older works on political elite and diplomacy. The key to capturing the process of circulation/ reproduction among diplomatic elites is through analysis of the general characteristics of diplomats as well as the system of personnel selection. I argue that a better understanding of the transformation processes could be achieved by looking at people at the entry level into political elite, i.e., by looking at newcomers. The thesis is further set out to show how the historical, political and cultural legacy of the past and geographical realities shaped the emerging diplomatic elites. The analysis presented in the thesis is based on a survey that I conducted. Several conclusions can be drawn from the analysis of diplomats in 27 countries. The composition of the emerging diplomatic elite across countries shows some striking similarities and some striking differences. The areas of important similarities are education, social origins and channels of recruitment. The differences mainly occur in age, gender, recruitment channels, previous professional experience, type of residence and additional jobs performed. Particularly illuminating in this respect is the division of respondents by geographical criterion into the CEE/FSU countries. A more meticulous analysis shows that the revolutionary political transformations were not followed by a revolutionary transformation of elites, or of diplomatic elites in particular. There was a modest degree of circulation from the lower classes into the elite role (in particular, into the diplomatic elite), but it did not transcend the socially desirable and socially stabilising moderate level. It was certainly not a revolutionary degree of circulation into the diplomatic elite. Nor was there a full-scale reproduction of elites.

Understandable as a history speech of knowledge and power of sexuality, and the pleasures that have material effects about the people experiences. Trough a medical science review in that time, the civil legislation and the medical expertise included on the court records, showed how the medical promoted the speech of the heterosexuality in its country. Having as a base the positivist speeches and social evolutionist that promulgated eugenic and hygienist practices

Abstract
The notions of personal connection and social networks are key ingredients of the increasingly important concept of social capital in social sciences in general and in economics in particular. This paper discusses the problem of measuring personal connection and the extent of social networks that may exist in a society. For this purpose we develop several conceptual and analytical frameworks. In the process, we axiomatically characterize several measures of personal connection and social networks.

Theories of performativity have garnered considerable attention within the social sciences and humanities over the past two decades. At the same time, there has also been a growing recognition that the social production of space is fundamental to assertions of political authority and the practices of everyday life. However, comparatively little scholarship has explored the full implications that arise from the confluence of these two streams of social and political thought. This is the first book-length, edited collection devoted explicitly to showcasing geographical scholarship on the spat.

En sciences sociales, elle est communément abordée selon plusieurs angles : comme paradigme néo-libéral, comme champ technocratique, comme arène actionnaliste et comme scène médiatique. La SAN n'est donc pas seulement un objectif de l'agenda opérationnel du développement (ODD n° 2), mais plus encore – par elle-même – un enjeu de pouvoir. Indéniablement, le temps y constitue une variable fondamentale, pour l'analyse et pour l'action, dans des contextes d'aléas et d'incertitudes renforcées, quand il ne s'avère pas être un facteur limitant intrinsèque. Ce document de synthèse vise trois objectifs : mettre en perspective critique un domaine d'action qui a connu des renouvellements importants au cours de la décennie écoulée ; approfondir la compréhension des relations existantes entre crise et processus de sécurisation ; et, enfin, préciser, pas à pas, le contenu de la sécurisation alimentaire, comme cadre d'analyse, cadre d'action et cadre de réflexion sur l'action.
