Système de la Nature ou Des Loix du Monde Physique & du Monde Moral; pol. System przyrody, czyli prawa świata fizycznego i moralnego (Londyn, 1770) - część druga dzieła filozoficznego, systematyzującego poglądy ateistycznego materializmu XVIII wieku, którego autorem jest Paul Henry Thiry, baron d'Holbach ((1723-1789) - francuski filozof, ateista, współautor Wielkiej Encyklopedii Francuskiej. Praca została opublikowana pod nazwiskiem Jean-Baptiste de Mirabaud, nieżyjącego już członka Francuskiej Akademii Nauk, ponieważ Holbach obawiał się konsekwencji związanych z wydaniem tego dzieła. Jego obawy, nie były bezpodstawne, bowiem, ukazanie się Systemu przyrody… , już w roku publikacji, wywołało wielkie poruszenie w społeczeństwie, a parlament miasta Paryża potępił to dzieło i zostało ono publicznie spalone przez kata. Według niektórych źródeł, Holbach napisał i opublikował to dzieło z pomocą Denisa Diderota (1713-1784) i przy wsparciu Jacques'a - André Naigeon (1738-1810). W obszernym traktacie autor głosi radykalny empiryzm, materializm i determinizm. Opisuje wszechświat w kategoriach zasad materializmu filozoficznego: umysł jest utożsamiany z mózgiem, nie ma "duszy" bez żywego ciała, światem rządzą ścisłe deterministyczne prawa, wolna wola jest iluzją, nie ma ostatecznych przyczyn, a cokolwiek się dzieje, ma miejsce, ponieważ nieuchronnie musi. Dzieło jednoznacznie zaprzecza istnieniu Boga, argumentując, że wiara w istotę wyższą jest produktem strachu, braku zrozumienia i antropomorfizmu. Holbach krytykuje nie tylko tradycyjne dowody na istnienie Boga, ale i wszelką wiarę religijną oraz popularny w tym czasie wśród oświeconych deizm. Przedstawia wiarę w Boga i nieśmiertelność duszy jako skrajną niedorzeczność. Książka była uważana za niezwykle radykalną w swoich czasach. Lista osób piszących refutacje dzieła była długa. Należeli do nich, m.in.: Nicolas-Sylvestre Bergier, Voltaire; Fryderyk Wielki etc. Spekuluje się, że Fryderyk był zmotywowany do napisania krytyki Systemu przyrody…, ponieważ książka ta zawierała atak nie tylko na religię, ale także na monarchię. Z kolei, przyjaciel Holbacha, Denis Diderot, entuzjastycznie poparł dzieło. P. B. Shelley po jego przeczytaniu stał się zagorzałym ateistą i przystąpił do tłumaczenia tej książki na język angielski. Natomiast, według Willa Duranta, dzieło to jest najbardziej wyczerpującym opisem materializmu i ateizmu w całej historii filozofii.

Ranulf Higden (d.1364) was a monk at the abbey of St Werburgh in Chester. His most important literary work is this universal chronicle, which survives in over a hundred Latin manuscripts, testifying to its popularity. The earliest version of it dates from 1327, but Higden continued writing until his death, expanding and updating the text. It was also continued in other monastic houses, most importantly by John Malvern of Worcester. The English translation made by John Trevisa in the 1380s was also widely circulated and is included in this work, published in nine volumes for the Rolls Series between 1865 and 1886. The chronicle shows how fourteenth-century scholars understood world history and geography. Volume 2 contains the remainder of Book 1, on the description of Britain, and twenty-eight chapters of Book 2, on the early history of the world to the reign of Saul in Israel

Es handelt sich beim vorliegenden Werk um die kritische Edition der ältesten erhaltenen byzantinischen Weltchronik, der Chronographia des Ioannes Malalas (syrisch: Rhetor oder Rechtsgelehrter). Iohannes Malalas wurde um 490 n. Chr. in oder bei Antiochia geboren und starb um 570/580 n. Chr. Er schrieb seine Chronographia in zeitgenössischem umgangssprachlichem Griechisch. Die Ausgabe umfasst die Prolegomena, die Auskunft geben über die handschriftliche Überlieferung der Chronographia, die Textedition mit reichhaltigem apparatus fontium und minutiösem apparatus criticus, sowie die im CFHB vorgesehenen Indices. Die Edition ersetzt jene von Dindorf (1813 im Bonner Corpus). Sie bietet insofern einen vollständigeren Text als sie zum ersten Mal auch das erste Buch des Werkes enthält und die kirchenslavische Übersetzung des 10./11. Jhs., die einen vollständigeren Text bietet, in Rückübersetzung bei der Texterstellung heranzieht.
