Mobile payment is hotly debated, but the use is still below expectations – especially in shopping environment. In China the topic is already well established, not only because it is managed centrally by China UnionPay. In Germany numerous approaches can be found using different technical methods of payment exchange. Consumers are aware of the ability to pay via mobile phone. But ignorance about the technologies, fear of data misuse and lack of information prevent a further spread. But consumers can be encouraged by offering a real benefit and the guarantee of safety. In 2015, most censorship takes place online: South Korea has the highest broadband Internet penetration in the world. The KCSC employs an army of energetic censors across a number of bureaux, each assigned a different branch of the media or cyberspace, to manage what its people can view--always a moving target. Borowiec explores South Korea's new law that embeds surveillance tool on teenagers' smartphones. Adapted from the source document.
Part 3: Mobile Device Forensics ; International audience ; Humans tend to use specific words to express their emotional states in written and oral communications. Scientists in the area of text mining and natural language processing have studied sentiment fingerprints residing in text to extract the emotional polarity of customers for a product or to evaluate the popularity of politicians. Recent research focused on micro-blogging has found notable similarities between Twitter feeds and SMS (short message service) text messages. This paper investigates the common characteristics of both formats for sentiment analysis purposes and verifies the correctness of the similarity assumption. A lexicon-based approach is used to extract and compute the sentiment scores of SMS messages found on smartphones. The data is presented along a timeline that depicts a sender's emotional fingerprint. This form of analysis and visualization can enrich a forensic investigation by conveying potential psychological patterns from text messages.
"This paper shows that computer users and smartphone users taking part in a web survey optimized for smartphones give responses of almost the same quality. Combining a design of one question in each page and innovative page navigation methods, we can get high quality data by both computer and smartphone users. The two groups of users are also compared with regard to their precisely measured item response times. The analysis shows that using a smartphone instead of a computer increases about 20% the geometric mean of item response times. The data analyzed in this paper were collected by a smartphone-friendly web survey. All question texts are short and the response buttons are large and easy to use. As a result, there are no significant interactions between smartphone use and either the length of the question or the age of the respondent. Thus, the longer response times among smartphone users should be explored in other causes, such as the likelihood of smartphone users being distracted by their environment." (author's abstract)
