The aim of the article is the determination of the social variant of environmental safety and analysis of the indicators of the overall mechanism for evaluating social threats in the prolonged study to ensure the environmental safety of the state.Methodology of research. The methods of analysis and synthesis, graphical and analytical method of research are used in the article for determining the indicators of the criterion assessment of social security, social component, an assessment of social threats.Findings. It is established that the formation of new social and economic relations in Ukraine on the basis of reforming the social and economic model requires an understanding of approaches and the development of the concept of national security, and within the framework of the general concept, the substantiation of the main provisions of Ukraine's environmental security.The importance of the social variant of environmental safety has been determined and the necessity of implementation of the complex results of social and ecological and economic research in the general state strategy for reforming the social and economic model and the further implementation of the Concept of Sustainable Development have been substantiated.It is proved that one of the most important approaches to achieve invariant safety is the introduction of a developed general mechanism for assessing social threats based on selected indicators and criterion assessments.Originality. The interdisciplinary field of neurorobotics looks to neuroscience to overcome the limitations of modern robotics technology, to robotics to advance our understanding of the neural system's inner workings, and to information technology to develop tools that support those complementary endeavours. The development of these technologies is still at an early stage, which makes them an ideal candidate for proactive and anticipatory ethical reflection. This article explains the current state of neurorobotics development within the Human Brain Project, originating from a close collaboration between the scientific and technical experts who drive neurorobotics innovation, and the humanities and social sciences scholars who provide contextualising and reflective capabilities. This article discusses some of the ethical issues which can reasonably be expected. On this basis, the article explores possible gaps identified within this collaborative, ethical reflection that calls for attention to ensure that the development of neurorobotics is ethically sound and socially acceptable and desirable. ; European Union's Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Framework Programme 720270 785907 945539

Global warming continues resulting in more violent and destructive storms. The world population is increasing by nearly 90 million annually. Forests are rapidly being destroyed in the developing countries. Irrigated area per capita and food grain production are declining. The competition from the cities for water is increasing. Many aquifers are being polluted and/or over pumped. However, deforestation, soil erosion, population growth, and flooding decrease with water resources and other economic developments. Large new areas can be brought into agricultural production through the construction of irrigation and drainage facilities. There are many good sites for large dams in the developing countries. These dams can be used for hydropower, flood storage, irrigation supplies, and domestic water. Hydropower is clean energy and should be substituted for a large portion of the present use of fossil fuels. Benefits from fertilizers increase with increasing availability of water. Governments and politicians are poor managers of water resources. Many large development possibilities are international in scope. Electrical grids should be more interconnected and possibly continental in scope. Few if any developing countries have an institutional capacity for coordinated water resources developments. The international lending agencies should give priority to the financing of national and international water resources development authorities that at least partially privatize water resource management. Also priority should be given to those projects and activities that improve the environment.

Social problems are rapidly increasing in modern societies due to various reasons. One of these is drug addiction, which has become a major issue in the contemporary world, as it is proving to be a serious social problem in both developing and underdeveloped countries. This review article that focuses on the social aspects of drug addiction in Sri Lanka is based on secondary data obtained from the published works of different authors; they provide details about the identity of drugs, drug addiction and the increasing number of addicts in Sri Lanka. Drug addiction has become an important issue due to its severe impact on public health, its tendency to encourage crime, cause diseases, poverty and destruction of family life in Sri Lanka. Heroin and cannabis (marijuana) are found to be the most commonly used drugs in Sri Lanka. Laws and policies designed to control drug abuse and regulations on drug addicts have not brought any major change or desired outcome in the Sri Lankan drug scene. Drug users in Sri Lanka get their supply of drugs from the underground drug market, which has its internal and external sources. Rehabilitation of drug addicts has become an urgent need in the country to protect its valuable citizens who are needed to build a sustainable nation that is free from drugs. Drug addiction is preventable and can be managed successfully if every citizen of the country gives his/ her full support and contribution.

A global trend today is the gradual replacement of the large-scale centralized electric energy by a small distributed electric generation. It became possible after being by the competitiveness of renewable energy-based facilities which can be installed everywhere. New technologies of distributed generation guarantee quick electrification of new areas, low capital and operation expenses, progressive reduction of costs and tariffs, lower vulnerability due to man-made disasters, cyber attacks and terrorist acts. Distributed energy is very attractive for African and Asian countries with vast hard-of-access and little developed areas and multiple contingents of poor population for whom electric energy is inaccessible. It is exactly there that distributed energy has the world's highest development potential.

This paper evaluates the legal status of the Russian federal government as a corporate governance participant using the example of large sectorial companies. The state commonly regulates economic processes and focuses on pursuing the public interest. It also acts as a guarantor of social responsibility, and this affects decision-making processes in state-owned corporations. In Russia, the federal government has always played an essential role in the business activities of enterprises. Many companies are known to be state-owned or have close links to the state authorities and policymakers. This raises an academic debate concerning the development of market competition, state participation, and business environment. We propose approaches to understanding the participation of the state and unitary enterprises in corporate governance in Russia. By employing secondary data analysis as well as examining the Russian legislation in corporate law, we attempt to determine the legal and social status of the federal government in managing large corporations. The goal is this paper is to analyze the image of Germany and Germans in social media platforms of Polish Television (Telewizja Polska — TVP). Through a web content analysis the study aims at presenting main societal and political aspects in the daily functioning of public service media. The outcome is therefore presented in a broad social and historical context, including relations between Germany and Poland. The main factors shaping bilateral relations such as stereotypes, trans-border cooperation and the presence of the German minority in Poland are presented. The empirical part of the paper comprises content and discourse analysis of TVP' s social media related to the image of Germans and Germany over a period of three months in 2018.

As of this time, the religious behavior of young people, the specifics of their religious practices and their general attitude to religion have not been adequately studied. The same fully applies to the influence of youth religious culture on the religious environment. Meanwhile, a better understanding of the religiosity level among young people and its specific features would have produced a more balanced and more adequate religious policy and helped preserve interconfessional harmony and stability in the post-Soviet space. In the course of our studies we defined the level of religiosity by the extent to which the sacral duties (i.e., fasting, praying, pilgrimage to holy places and voluntary offerings) were observed. The attitude of the younger generation to religious extremism was also examined. We based our research on the results of public opinion polls among the young people in the cities of Turkestan (Kazakhstan) and Nizhnekamsk (Tatarstan, Russian Federation). It turned out that the level of religiosity (as per the above parameters) among the young people of Tatarstan was lower by almost two times than that in Kazakhstan, yet the type of their religious culture does not negatively affect religious stability. The high and ever-growing level of religiosity among all population groups (younger generation included) is present in the southern regions of Kazakhstan (the Turkestan Region being no exception), which are seen as a zone of high risk of religious extremism. The results of recent studies, however, confirmed that current social instability is not rooted in youth radicalism: the level and nature of religious activity in this population group are not a threat to religious stability in the region. Indeed, the majority of the respondents in the Turkestan Region had no personal experience of dealing with radical religious extremists; a smaller part (a third) of the respondents believes that the threat is real. In Tatarstan, on the other hand, the share of respondents who are aware of the threat of religious extremist activity and fear it is nearly 40%; the share of those who admit that religious extremists are present among the republic's younger generation is even higher (81%). While the majority of the respondents assessed the religious situation in Tatarstan as fairly stable, 40% remained convinced that religious extremists may destabilize the religious environment in the region. Since the level of religiosity among the polled young people in Tatarstan is nearly half the size of that in Kazakhstan, it can be defined as a zone of low youth religious activity. The level of religiosity in Turkestan makes it a zone of average religious activity. Comparative analysis of the religiosity level among the younger generation helped us identify certain factors that negatively affect interconfessional stability in Kazakhstan and Russia and suggest an efficient religious policy.

Increased pressure on risk industries to reduce their negative impact on society has resulted in an increasing volume of "risk" and "responsibility" communications from interest groups known as Social Aspects Public Relations Organizations (SAPROs). SAPROs have been criticized for being the "front groups" of risk industries (e.g., the tobacco, gambling, sugar, and alcohol industries). Operating within the neoliberal policy framework, SAPROs seek to forestall regulation and prioritize industry profits over public health. Building on risk industry research from the public health sphere, this article examines the SAPRO phenomenon and situates it in the political public relations (PR) literature. Specifically, it considers how SAPROs perform an indirect lobbying function on behalf of their funding industries. Using DrinkWise as an example of an alcohol SAPRO, this article shows that SAPROs represent a novel development in front group strategy and examines how this development intersects with neoliberalism. This article also argues that SAPROs are deployed by risk industries to hegemonically promote the idea of personal responsibility and that their indirect lobbying function may be necessary to the continuance of neoliberal policies.

The article presents features of social formation and development of youth in Ukraine, namely in the context of youth policy. The concepts of «youth policy», «youth, young citizens», «youth social formation», «socialization», «the basic components of the process of youth social formation and development» are defined. The definitions of « youth social formation» and «socialization of personality» are compared.The scientists' works who paid attention to youth policy in general and some aspects of social formation and development of youth are analysed. There are scientists who analysed the problems of modern youth socialization in their works. The article highlights the scientists who study the basic principles, directions and mechanisms of implementation of state youth policy, the evolution of state youth policy and prospects for its further development, organizational and legal mechanisms of implementation of state youth policy in Ukraine at the regional level, features of formation and implementation of state youth policy, etc. The legal principles of youth policy have been characterized and, under the current legislation of Ukraine, the basic conditions for social formation and development of youth in Ukraine have been outlined. The analysed literature identified the components of the process of youth social formation and development in Ukraine. The article identifies the main purpose and objectives of youth policy in Ukraine. The periods in the human life, the main social tasks facing the person and the priority directions of the state policy for the given period are distinguished. The directions of the state policy in the youth social formation and development according to certain periods of life of a young person are made. The main tasks, principles and directions of the state policy of promoting the youth integration into society are outlined. The main directions of state policy in the field of youth social formation and development in Ukraine are outlined. ; У статті представлено особливості соціального становлення та розвитку молоді в Україні, зокрема в контексті молодіжної політики.
