The paper identifies specifics transition of military identity in the context of alternation theories of P. Berger and T. Lukman, habitus of P. Bourdieu, «the homecomer» of A. Schütz, and «cultural shock» of K. Oberg and B. Bergman. In the context of the theory of P. Berger and T. Lukman, it is necessary to distinguish between two modes of military identity – a weak form (correlated with partial secondary socialization in the army field) and a strong form (correlated with the alternation, which is accompanied by distancing from the past). In the context of Bourdieu's theory, the transition of military identity is correlated with the concept of habitus. The militant habitus can enter into a collision with the civil soci- ocultural context during the transition of a serviceman from the army to the civilian field. The contradic- tion between two habitus, which for a long time was formed in the military and civil sociocultural fields, can have a hysteresis (delay in adapting to social changes) by its effect. In the context of the theory of «cultural shock» K. Oberg and B. Bergman, the transition of military identity is correlated with the state of social anxiety and disorientation of an individual in the situation of sudden immersion in an unknown military cultural context in which the previous socio-cultural experience is no longer applicable. In the context of the concept of «the homecomer» of A. Schütz, the problem of the disparity of relevance systems actual in army and civil fields is analyzed, which can lead to a retardation of the reintegration process. It is concluded that the success of social rehabilitation of veterans largely depends on their ability to transform military identity and transpose it into a civilian context. ; В статье выявлена специфика транзитов милитарной идентичности в контексте теорий альтернации П. Бергера и Т. Лукмана, габитуса П. Бурдье, «возвращающегося домой» А. Шютца и «культурного шока» К. Оберга и Б. Бергмана. The article raises the question of the relation of sociology to modern wars. Scientific knowledge in the modernist and postmodern era is actively exploited by states and governments to enhance the country's defense capability. The author comes to the conclusion that the turn of sociology has come. During the Second World War, the US government has attracted representatives of the social sciences to research in defense, including such well-known scholars as Paul Lazarsfeld, Elmo Roper, Louis Guttman, Renss Likert and others. The latest type of war, which the modern Russian-Ukrainian hybrid war fully complies with, requires a lot of specific social knowledge. It forms the theoretical foundation for non-military instruments of the hybrid war. Every such instrument should harm the enemy's society, destroy the social order and change the consciousness of the population. The maximum task is to achieve a victory before the first shot. The article examines four concepts that have been actively developed since the beginning of zero years by social researchers in the interests of the army and special services: 1) network theory, 2) the theory of controlled chaos, 3) cognitive warfare, 4) the concept of reflexive management. All of them have found practical application in operation «russian spring», which marked the beginning of the active phase of the war in 2014. The question of moral responsibility of social scientists both from the side of the aggressor country and the country that fights sovereignty and freedom is raised. ; В статье поднимается вопрос об отношении социологии к современным войнам. Научное знание в эпохи модерна и постмодерна активно эксплуатируется государствами, правительствами в целях усиления обороноспособности стран. Автор приходит к выводу, что наступает черед социологии. Во времена Второй мировой войны американское правительство привлекло представителей социальных наук к исследовательской деятельности в интересах обороны, в т.ч. известных ученых – Пауля Лазарсфельда, Элмо Роупера, Луиса Гуттмана, Ренсиса Лайкерта и др. Новейший тип войны, которому полностью соответствует современная российско-украинская война, требует специфичного социального знания, образующего теоретический фундамент невоенных инструментов гибридной войны. Каждый такой инструмент должен быть способным нанести вред социуму противника, разрушать социальный порядок и изменять сознание населения. Максимальное задание – достичь победы еще до первого выстрела. В статье рассмотрены четыре концепции, которые активно разрабатывались с начала нулевых годов российскими социальными исследователями в интересах армии и спецслужб: 1) сетевая теория, 2) теория управляемого хаоса, 3) когнитивная война, 4) концепция рефлексивного управления. Все они нашли свое применение в кампании «русская весна», с которой началась активная фаза войны в 2014 г. Ставится вопрос о моральной ответственности социальных ученых как со стороны страны-агрессора, так и страны, которая борется за свой суверенитет и свободу. ; У статті піднімається питання відношення соціології до сучасних воєн. Наукове знання в епоху модерну і постмодерну активно експлуатується державами, урядами в цілях посилення обороноздатності країн. Автор доходить висновку, що настала черга соціології. За часів Другої світової війни американський уряд залучив представників соціальних наук до дослідницької діяльності в інтересах оборони, серед яких такі відомі вчені, як Пауль Лазарсфельд, Елмо Роупер, Луіс Гуттман, Ренсіс Лайкерт та інші. Новітній тип війни, якому повністю відповідає сучасна російсько-українська гібридна війна, потребує специфічного соціального знання, що утворює теоретичний фундамент невійськових інструментів гібридної війни. Кожен такий інструмент має наносити шкоду соціуму супротивника, руйнувати соціальний порядок і змінювати свідомість населення. Максимальне завдання – досягти перемоги до першого пострілу. В статті розглянуто чотири концепції, які активно розроблялися з початку нульових років російськими соціальними дослідниками в інтересах армії та спецслужб: 1) мережева теорія, 2) теорія керованого хаосу, 3) когнітивна війна, 4) концепція рефлексивного управління. Усі вони знайшли практичне застосування в кампанії «руська весна», з якої починалася активна фаза війни у 2014 р. Ставиться питання щодо моральної відповідальності соціальних вчених як зі сторони країни-агресора, так і країни, що виборює суверенітет і свободу.

This article focuses on some lexical and stylistic peculiarities in the headlines of the military articles in English. At the beginning of the article it describes the main functions of the headlines of newspaper articles and their aims in modern printed and electronic publications. The author mentions nominative and informative, evaluative, advertising and esthetic functions which are not isolated, but interconnected in the newspaper headline as a media text. Further the text of the article deals with stylistic analysis, the author considers scientific and technical functional style together with official and business one, at the crossroads of which the style of writing the headlines is. Characteristic features of both styles are given. Official and business style gives military texts and headlines corresponding language character, logic, exactness, clarity, objectivity, concreteness, austerity. At the same time scientific and technical style is united with headlines by the usage of terminology, connected with warfare. In this research the morphological, syntactic, lexical, grammatical features of building headlines in the military articles in English are analyzed using the examples of headlines taken from The Guardian, The New York Times, The Telegraph, The Washington Post, The Times. The article also explains the attraction of military headlines by the usage of such unusual language structures as stylistic devices. Some stylistic devices are mentioned and defined, such as alliteration, speech and language epithets, metaphor, allusion. Examples of them are given. These are language constructions which help to make the headline interesting and memorable.

The article explores the processes of transformation of Russian cadets' motivation and value orientations during the last decade, as well as the dynamics of their motivational and value sphere throughout the period of study at military educational organizations. The analysis of scientific literature, public opinion polls and author's own research showed the restoration of the prestige of the military profession, improving of socio-economic status of military personnel, enhancing of students' confidence about their choice of profession. Military professional motives for enrolling in military education organization are dominating throughout the period of observation. The system of value coordinates also remains stable; cadets are generally proud of service in the Armed forces and share the norms and values of military service. The use of correspondence analysis allowed the author to identify the relationship between different motives and values and to measure the proximity between cadets of different courses in the motivation and value space. The author concludes that cadets' motivational system is being gradually transformed as they grow up. First-year students are more attracted by pragmatic, material advantages of military service. The second, third and fourth courses take an intermediate position; this stage is characterized by the process of rethinking professional choice. Graduates have the most formed military and professional orientation, the greatest value for them is the interest to the chosen military specialty. ; Статья посвящена проблемам трансформации отношения россиян к военной службе в течение последнего десятилетия, а также вопросам динамики мотивационноценностной сферы курсантов военных образовательных организаций в процессе обучения. The historiography of World War II is one of the most extensive research topics in historical science. Over the years, a comprehensive study of the military, political and economic history of wartime has been conducted. Particular attention during recent decades has been given to the social aspects of the war. However, the topic of social cohesion in the warring countries remains insufficiently analyzed. Thus, the main objective of the article is to analyze the current state of research on social cohesion in the context of World War II in contemporary British, German and Russian historical literature. The present study of the reflection of cohesion problems in Soviet Union, Great Britain and Germany during World War II is based on the principles of a new interdisciplinary branch of social science – anthropology of war. It integrates the achievements, subject areas and research tools of history, sociology, military psychology, cultural studies, pedagogy, medicine and other disciplines that study the existence of people and society at large in wartime conditions. A comparative analysis of the chosen historiography shows that at the present stage there is a commonality of approaches among historians related to interest in certain personalities, everyday life during World War II and war's gender dimension. The differences in assessments and methods are determined by the role and place of a particular state in the military-political confrontation as well as by prevailing historiographical paradigms. In any case, the theme of social cohesion was not adequately reflected in these studies. In conclusion, the authors note the research potential of analyzing the problems of social cohesion during World War II.

The article makes an attempt to conceptualize the phenomenon of geopolitical orientations. For this, the author considered various perspectives of geopolitical analysis: infrastructural, sociocultural, actionalist, historical, structural, territorial/regional, network. As a result, the following indicators of geopolitical orientations are formulated: 1) an evaluation of the priority of cooperation with a geopolitical actor (general geopolitical openness); 2) an evaluation of the policy of the geopolitical actor towards to own state (the degree of productivity of the current geopolitical interaction); 3) an attitude to military cooperation with a geopolitical actor (geopolitical cooperation in the field of security); 4) an attitude to the intervention of a geopolitical actor in the politics of own state (the adoption of a geopolitical actor as a senior partner).The obtained concepts were used for an empirical analysis of the geopolitical orientations of the population of Ukraine toward to European Union and Russian Federation (sociological tests "EU-geopol" and "RU-geopol"). Corresponding results describe the population of Ukraine and the population of its separate macro-regions according to the following parameters: specific geopolitical orientations, geopolitical positions (negative, neutral, uncertain, ambivalent, positive), and a nomological network of political consciousness. To build a nomological network, in addition to geopolitical orientations, the attitudes toward Ukrainian democracy and the democracy of developed countries, authoritarian attitudes and attitudes toward civic activity were used (sociological test "Types of Political Culture-II").Conclusions are drawn about the possibilities of creating favorable conditions for cross-border cooperation with the European Union, the need to monitor geopolitical orientations in southeastern Ukraine, as well as its structural equidistance from European Union and Russian Federation. ; У статті здійснена спроба концептуального осмислення феномена геополітичних орієнтацій. Для цього автор розглянув різні перспективи геополітичного аналізу: інфраструктурну, соціокультурну, акціоналістську, історичну, структурну, територіально-регіональну, мережеву. Для побудови номологічної мережі, крім геополітичних орієнтацій, використано установки щодо української демократії та демократії розвинених країн, авторитарні установки й установки на громадянську активність (соціологічний тест «Типи політичної культури – II»). Зроблено висновки про можливості побудови сприятливих умов транскордонного співробітництва з Європейським Союзом, необхідність моніторингу геополітичних орієнтацій на південному сході України, а також його структурної рівновіддаленості від Європейського Союзу та Російської Федерації.

Проблемы эволюции военно­ социологических исследований приобретают не только внутринаучное, но и социальное звучание.Сегодня научные работы по проблемам военной организации общества представляют самые различные научные дисциплины. Исследуются исторические, педагогические, экономические, философские, социологические, медицинские и другие аспекты проблемы обеспечения военной безопасности общества. В работах российских исследователей, которых большинство, раскрыты и проанализированы особенности и характерные черты процесса становления социологического подхода к изучению военно­социальных явлений. Вместе с этим на сегодняшний день недостаточно исследована эволюция военно­социологических исследований.Автор знакомит читателя с основными результатами социологического исследования, посвященного изучению эволюции военно­социологических исследований на постсоветском пространстве за период 1993 – 2013 годов.При проведении исследования использовались сами диссертационные работы, а также библиографические указатели Российской государственной библиотеки, Национальной библиотеки Украины имени В. И. Вернадского, Национальной библиотеки Беларуси, национальных библиотек бывших советских республик в сети Internet. Общее количество диссертационных работ 1621.Результаты исследования показали, что за период с 1993 по 2013 год по социологическим дисциплинам было защищено 82 диссертационные работы. Наиболее исследованными проблемами военной организации обнаруживаются процессы управления в военной организации, ее социальная структура. Менее исследованы экономические аспекты функционирования военной организации. Изучение динамики военно­социологических исследований показало, что проблемы социальной структуры военной организации в перспективе сохраняют свою актуальность. Экономические аспекты функционирования военной организации только становятся актуальными. The nature of these threats calls for reform of the military organization of the world. Scientific support of the military reform is the key to its effective implementation. The problems of the evolution of military sociological research are not only internal academic, but also social significance.Today, the scientific work on the military organization of society represent a variety of scientific disciplines. Explores the historical, educational, economic, philosophical, sociological, medical, and other aspects of the problem of ensuring the military security of the society.In the works of Russian researchers, the majority of which are disclosed and analyzed the features and characteristics of the process of becoming a sociological approach to the study of military and social phenomena. At the same time today is not enough to investigate the evolution of military sociological research.The author introduces the reader to the main results of a sociological study on the evolution of military sociological research on post­Soviet territory during the period 1993 ­ 2013 period. The study used themselves dissertations, and bibliographies: Russian State Library, the National Library of Ukraine named after V.I.Vernadsky National Library, the National Library of the former Soviet republics in the Internet. The total number of theses in 1621.The results showed that during the period from 1993 to 2013 on sociological subjects were protected by 82 theses. The most studied problems of military organization management processes are found in the military organization, its social structure. Less studied the economic aspects of the military organization. The study of the dynamics of military sociological research has shown that the problems of the social structure of the military organization in the long term remain valid. The economic aspects of the military organization only become relevant. It's a natural tendency, which reflects the influence of both objective and subjective factors at the present stage of reforming the military organization.

Рассматривается современное состояние исторических исследований проблемы социальной сплоченности в контексте Второй мировой войны. Анализируются основные работы, отражающие вызванные войной процессы консолидации и раскола, перемены в сознании общества и отдельного человека как в воюющих на стороне антигитлеровской коалиции странах, так и в Германии. Подчеркивается, что социальная сплоченность остается неизученной темой в работах, посвященных социальной истории Второй мировой войны. Over the years, a comprehensive study of the military, political and economic history of wartime has been conducted. Particular attention during recent decades has been given to the social aspects of the war. However, the topic of social cohesion in the warring countries remains insufficiently analyzed. Thus, the main objective of the article is to analyze the current state of research on social cohesion in the context of World War II in contemporary British, German and Russian historical literature. The present study of the reflection of cohesion problems in Soviet Union, Great Britain and Germany during World War II is based on the principles of a new interdisciplinary branch of social science – anthropology of war. It integrates the achievements, subject areas and research tools of history, sociology, military psychology, cultural studies, pedagogy, medicine and other disciplines that study the existence of people and society at large in wartime conditions. A comparative analysis of the chosen historiography shows that at the present stage there is a commonality of approaches among historians related to interest in certain personalities, everyday life during World War II and war's gender dimension. The differences in assessments and methods are determined by the role and place of a particular state in the military-political confrontation as well as by prevailing historiographical paradigms. In any case, the theme of social cohesion was not adequately reflected in these studies. In conclusion, the authors note the research potential of analyzing the problems of social cohesion during World War II.

The article presents the relationships between the architecture of military hospitals and the changes that have taken place in the organization of hostilities, the attitude towards the army and the soldier, as well as the development of medical technologies. The case of military hospitals highlights the way architecture reflects many insights about the importance and value of each functional element in architectural design and facade solutions. Several of the crucial factors determining the change in the architecture of military hospitals were the shift in the ideology of war and the role of the soldier, the transformation of dominant views concerning medicine and hygiene, and the development of military equipment and weapons. A military hospital has several characteristics specific to this type, which include the closure of the system, the uneven nature of the incoming flow of casualties, and the specific community which makes a military hospital a machine for returning combatants to service. Through the changes in the architecture of military hospitals, it is possible to see the development of medicine, the change in the role of the soldier, the doctor, the division into the classes of "soldiers" and "officers, " military and civil, the attitude to discipline and the organization of treatment, and the development of military technologies. The timeline of the study covers a period of 313 years, during which the architecture of the hospitals has undergone five major changes corresponding to five temporal stages explicated by this paper. Materials for the study include field diaries and notes, historical references, archival materials, books and articles on Russian history, military history and medicine, as well as interviews with military doctors, historians, and gunsmiths. © 2020 National Research University Higher School of Economics.

In the proposed material, the author's team, as in some other similar articles, continues to analyze the topic of redundancy and the professionally applied nature of the training of athletes and athletes. The relevance of such an analysis is based on numerous precedents and attempts to pass one off as another, building a bridge on this supposedly natural and continuous transition from a sports career to career growth in other professional areas of labor and military practice that are not directly related to the sphere of physical culture and sports. Which often leads to sad consequences.
The demonstration of the fundamental differences between redundancy and the professionally applied nature of physical culture and sports training with examples from the field of boxing, taekwondo, practical shooting clearly confirms the correctness of the argumentation and conclusions of the authors of the article. At the same time, the material of the article indicates the possibility and necessity of developing this topic for the preparation of athletes and athletes not only for military or service, but also for civilian labor professional activity. Consequently, the topic chosen by the author's team has a continuation in the field of development of professionally applied sections of physical culture and sports training in non-core domestic universities.

The article seeks to explore how the social phenomenon of war is thematized in social theory, and in theory of modernity in particular. The author makes clear the distinction between military sociology, or sociology of war, narrowly understood, and social-theoretical analysis of war. Approaches to analyzing conceptualizations of war such as discourse analysis and intellectual history are discussed in some detail. The author then highlights the importance of formative period in social thought after the Great War and suggests a comparative and typological approach in contrast to national or evolutional frameworks. The last part is primarily a review of extant research on social theoretical thematization of war, with special attention to H. Joas and W. Проводится различие между анализом феномена войны в рамках военной социологии, или социологии войны в узком смысле, и социально-философским анализом войны. Предлагаются методологические замечания о том, как эта проблематика может быть рассмотрена средствами дискурс-анализа и в перспективе интеллектуальной истории, а также указываются особенности авторского подхода к проблеме осмысления войны в социальной мысли.
