Der Beitrag geht der Frage nach, inwieweit menschliche Körper und gegenständliche Technik als Verkörperungen des Sozialen gedacht werden können. Dabei unterzieht er den techniksoziologischen Stand der Forschung einer systematischen Befragung mit Hinblick auf Körper und Leib. Startpunkt der Argumentation ist die These einer doppelten Verkörperung des Sozialen in Menschen und Techniken, die insbesondere in ihren wechselseitigen Verschränkungen in techno-korporalen Konstellationen empirisch untersucht werden können. Anhand zentraler Studien aus der Biomedizin und der Mensch-Technik-Interaktion werden ausgewählte techniksoziologische Ansätze vorgestellt und in die breitere Diskussion von Mensch-Technik-Verhältnissen eingeordnet. Der Beitrag schließt mit einem Ausblick auf Forschungsdesiderate und -perspektiven an den Schnittstellen von Körper- und Techniksoziologie.

Angela Carter was an English fiction writer and journalist. Her female protagonists often take an empowered roles where they rise up against oppression and fight for both sexual and political equality. The actions of these women are direct reflections of the feminist movement that took place in the 1970s. The concepts within this movement relating specifically to the ideologies of radical-libertarian feminist, and regarding the extent to which she promotes feminist due to her style, referred to as "Galm-Rock" feminism. Carter began experimenting with writing fairy tales in 1970, which coincided with the period of second wave feminism in the Unites States. The majority of Angela Carter's work revolve around a specific type of feminism, radical libertarian feminism and her critique of the patriarchal role that have been placed on women. In this article, the main concentrate is on heroine's internalized consciousness which echoes in their behavior. All of the female protagonists in carter's short stories; such as The Courtship of Mr. Lyon, The Tiger's Bride, The snow child and mainly in The Bloody chamber have similar characteristics with different conditions, in which they are represented in a very negative light with less than ideal roles. In these stories, the protagonist is a young girl who has many conflicts with love and desire. Carter attempts to encourage women to do something about this degrading representation.

As feminist re-writings of the genre of crime fiction (mostly the hard-boiled) from the 1980s onward, Sara Paretsky's Warshawski novels provide a fertile field for critical and cultural studies. The aims of this paper are twofold: first, it traces the generic influences on her latest novel Breakdown (2012) beyond the obvious male precursors of the hard-boiled (Dashiell Hammett and Raymond Chandler) of the interwar period to the Gothic vogue in the early 19th century; and second, drawing on Roland Barthes's notion of readerly/writerly texts, Pierre Macherey's critique of ideology in realist fiction, and Fredric Jameson's dialectical view of genre, it teases out the symptomatic fissures and contradictions in Paretsky's novel which betray the text's inability to ultimately resist the ideology it intends to subvert.

Chinese migrant entrepreneurs in Ghana perceive themselves as vulnerable, as regularly they encounter problems and their businesses fail. The adaption experiences of Chinese entrepreneurs in Africa, especially non-traders, remain largely unstudied. By looking at the interactions of newly arrived and established Chinese migrants with institutional actors, partners, local employees and other Chinese in Ghana, this paper shows the multiple dimensions of how Chinese entrepreneurs' migration adaptation evolves, and how they create social capital to develop their businesses in Ghana. From the Chinese perspective, established entrepreneurs condemn the recent numerous "new" Chinese in Ghana as part of the root cause of problems, on account of their "poor quality and bad behaviour"; by comparison, the newly arrived Chinese attribute their challenges to deficiencies in the local people and institutions of the host country. The negative experiences of Chinese entrepreneurs in Ghana provide further evidence for, not only African, but also local Chinese agency from below, and suggest that the rising Chinese presence does not necessarily improve the social status of Chinese entrepreneurs or create a stronger, more unified Chinese community on the continent. Objective: To identify the perception of health professionals about domestic violence against the elderly, and understand the behavior in situations of domestic violence. Method: A descriptive study with a qualitative approach. Interviews were conducted with 12 health professionals using semistructured instrument with guiding questions. The interviews were taped and transcribed integrally. Data were analyzed and categorized by content analysis technique proposed by Bardin. Results: Two categories emerged: Understanding domestic violence against the elderly and Hierarchy actions against the situation of domestic violence against the elderly. Conclusion: It is important that the multidisciplinary team knows the multifarious spheres of aggression and know how to identify signs of bad treatment and violence, that such evidence from the cases notified to the competent authorities and facilitate the monitoring of elderly and family.

El traslado de las personas es un elemento crucial de la integración global. La mayor parte de los países de destino favorecen la entrada de trabajadores altamente calificados, pero restringen la de aquellos no especializados, o la de los que buscan asilo o refugio. Una causa importante de la migración es la creciente desigualdad de ingresos y de seguridad humana entre países más y menos desarrollados. Otros elementos que impulsan la migración incluyen un desarrollo económico disparejo; rápidas transiciones demográficas; y avances tecnológicos en transporte y comunicaciones. Cada vez más, los migrantes no trasplantan su existencia social de una sociedad a otra, sino que mantienen lazos transnacionales. La crisis económica global que empezó en 2008 trajo consigo un hiato en algunos de estos factores, pero no ha socavado su relevancia a largo plazo. El modelo tradicional australiano de migración para el asentamiento permanente, debe ajustarse a las nuevas realidades de movilidad y conectividad globales.

"Over the last two decades, patterns of internal migration in Germany have been discussed under the headings of East-West movements and sub- and re-urbanisation. This paper argues that the intense scientific and public debate that ignited about the possible causes and consequences of internal migration should be based on a clear understanding of how internal migration flows impact on regional population change. Using the German Internal Migration (GIM) database, a unique new dataset that holds annual interregional migration counts drawn from the population register for 397 regions with temporally consistent boundaries, this paper aims to provide a more comprehensive picture of the spatial structure of inter-county migration in Germany and how it has changed over the period 1995- 2010. To reduce the complexity of the county-level flow data and to facilitate the identification of patterns and trends, county-to-county flows were analysed using a spatial framework of 132 'analytical regions'. The results show that the intensity of migration between East German regions has been higher than East-West migration throughout the period, suggesting that the former type of migration has a stronger impact on rural population decline than commonly believed in the literature. Following a strong suburbanisation pattern in the 1990s, over the last decade, migration between counties in eastern Germany has resulted in a growing concentration of population in the cities of Berlin, Leipzig and Dresden. Increasing net migration gains were recorded by many urban cores across Germany. The trend was driven by both continuing in-migration of young adults in search for education and employment, and by a cessation of the long-term trend of family out-migration to the cities' suburban and non-metropolitan hinterlands." "Throughout recent decades, a gradual shift away from an early contracted and simple life course pattern which dominated in the 1950s and 1960s to late protracted and more complex patterns could be observed within European countries. Yet, despite multiple cross-national similarities in the changes of individual life course patterns, there exist considerable differences in the form and frequency of these changes. We argue that one possible way of better understanding these variations is to examine the connection between family formation choices and value orientations. Using data from the European Social Survey 2006 we empirically investigate to what extent the family trajectories have changed across generations and how these practiced family trajectories correspond to cross-cohort changes in socially established norms about family transitions. Our results corroborate the assumption of an increasing restandardisation of family lives: Even though family trajectories have become more turbulent involving more stages and stage changes for the younger generation, 'deviations' from traditional family patterns (such as unmarried cohabitation) are turning into majority behaviour, i.e. into a 'new standard'. Contrasting these trends with developments in family-related norms reveals that the liberalisation in norms appears to precede such changes in actual demographic behaviour, even though European countries differ in the degree and pace to which such normative and behavioural changes have yet taken place." "Während der Effekt einer Geburt auf das Einkommen unter dem Stichwort 'motherhood wage gap' bereits eingehend untersucht wurde, existieren bisher nur vereinzelt Arbeiten, die die Effekte des Zeitpunkts dieses Ereignisses analysieren. Die große Mehrheit bestehender Befunde basiert darüber hinaus auf amerikanischen Daten. Untersuchungen, die andere Datenquellen nutzen, wie zum Beispiel Studien auf Basis deutscher Daten, fehlen bisher fast vollständig. Der vorliegende Beitrag versucht diese Lücke zu schließen. Im Mittelpunkt steht dabei die Untersuchung des kausalen Effekts des Geburtszeitpunkts auf das Einkommen im weiteren Lebenslauf (bis zum 45. Lebensjahr). Die Schätzungen von Fixed-Effects-Panel-Modellen mit Längsschnittdaten des Sozio-oekonomischen Panels (SOEP) deuten darauf hin, dass die negativen Einkommenseffekte, die durch die Geburt des ersten Kindes entstehen, vor allem für solche Frauen beobachtet werden können, die ihr Kind zu einem relativ späten Zeitpunkt zur Welt bringen. Die negativen Effekte des Geburtstimings zeigen sich insbesondere für niedrig- und mittelgebildete Frauen sowie für verheiratete Frauen und verlieren für frühe Mütter mit dem Abstand vom Geburtsereignis an Einfluss. Darüber hinaus nehmen die negativen Effekte einer Geburt für späte Mütter mit der Länge der kindesbedingten Erwerbsunterbrechung zu. Im Gegensatz zur vorliegenden Literatur deuten die Befunde damit auf negative Einkommenseffekte durch eine späte Mutterschaft hin, so dass in Anlehnung an die bereits bekannte 'motherhood wage gap' eher von einer 'late motherhood wage gap' gesprochen werden kann." This Special Issue on "Migrant Youth, Intercultural Relations and the Challenges of Social Inclusion", reports recent cutting edge research into the complex nature of migrant youth settlement in multicultural émigré societies. Drawing on multidisciplinary research, it explores the latest intersecting theories on cultural diversity, intercultural relations and multiculturalism in the context of globalised cities where access to and sharing of public spaces is becoming a highly contested issue.

Objective: to investigate how the care for the elderly with cancer has been provided by a Brazilian family.
Method: We opted for the method of revision of literature in the bases of Lilacs, BDENF, BDTD and MEDLINE–Brazil
data, using family, elderly and cancer as descriptors, during the period of 2000 to 2009. Results: We analyzed
four studies that emphasized the aspects related to the main caretaker of elderly patients with cancer and not to
the family, and the need for partnerships with health's professionals and family members. Conclusion: The
findings show that research in this area is not yet consolidated, and it is necessary to intensify efforts for the
development of evidences on the subject.

Objective: To know the scientific literature about the nursing worker's health. Method: Bibliography review of literature published from 2005 to 2010. It was used the databases LILACS and SCIELO and BDENF, with intersection between the descriptors nursing and worker's health, 20 studies were selected. Results: Most publications on nursing worker's health discuss biosecurity, exposure to biohazards, occupational stress and its prevention and control measures. There are still few published studies about this issue in primary care or family health strategy, with most studies conducted in hospitals, mainly in university hospitals. Conclusion: The research on occupational health of nursing is important because it can contribute significantly to the improved quality of life of nursing staff.

Mein Aufsatz fokussiert auf die (De-)Konstruktion männlicher Körper und Identitäten in Christian Krachts Roman "Faserland" (1995) und Helmut Kraussers Roman "Fette Welt" (1992) in Rückbezug auf Judith Butlers in "Körper von Gewicht" entworfener Theorie, welche die Materialisierung von (Geschlechts-)körpern eng mit Subjektivierungsprozessen zusammendenkt. Krachts namenloser Protagonist ist weder durch seine Identität noch durch seinen Körper eindeutig als männlich definiert. Sein Scheitern, eine Identität oder wenigstens Liebe, Freundschaft und Anerkennung zu finden, endet in einem angedeuteten Selbstmord. Im Vergleich zum Protagonisten aus "Faserland" hat der Protagonist namens Hagen in "Fette Welt" mehr Erfolg bei dem Versuch, eine männliche Subjektposition zu besetzen. Hagen ist ein obdachloser Poet, der sich bewusst dafür entschieden hat, abseits der bürgerlichen Gesellschaft zu leben. Sein vormals dreckiger und kranker Körper transformiert sich im Laufe des Romans symbolisch von einem Schwein zu einem Elefanten und durchläuft somit eine Reinigung. Der Körper in "Faserland" ist unfähig zur Veränderung und wird als schwach und offen wahrgenommen, während Hagens Körper letztendlich fähig zur Transformation in einen neuen, stabileren, den hegemonialen Männlichkeitsnormen entsprechenden ist, der zugleich eine stabile männliche Identität (oder, in Butlers Worten, Intelligibilität) garantieren kann.

"Aus einer qualitativen Längsschnittstudie zur gemeinsamen Unterbringung von Frauen mit ihren Kindern im Strafvollzug werden hier erste Ergebnisse dargelegt. Im Mittelpunkt stehen haftbezogene und biographische Interviews, die mit inhaftierten Frauen in verschiedenen Justizvollzugsanstalten geführt wurden. Zentrale Forschungsfragen, denen aus der Perspektive der Inhaftierten und mit Hilfe der interpretativen Sozialforschung nachgegangen wird, lauten: Wie verarbeiten und bewältigen inhaftierte Frauen die Erfahrung des Freiheitsentzugs im Zusammenhang der gemeinsamen Unterbringung mit ihren Kindern? Wie erleben und interpretieren sie Mutterschaft und die damit verbundenen Erwartungen und Anforderungen von Institutionen, anderen Menschen und ihren Kindern? Die Autoren knüpfen an theoretische Traditionen der soziologischen und sozialpsychologischen Prisonisierungsforschung an, die sich mit den langfristigen Wirkungen eines Freiheitsentzugs auf Handlungs- und Verarbeitungsmuster auseinandersetzen. Vor diesem Hintergrund werden vier Einzelfälle, die exemplarisch für unterschiedliche Bewältigungs- und Verarbeitungsmuster einer Inhaftierung mit Kind stehen, vorgestellt und an Erkenntnisse und offene Fragen der Prisonisierungsforschung rückgebunden."
