New and dominant trends in the world's tourist market are determined by economic factors as well as by the outcomes of recent political changes. This is particularly true about Europe, the largest tourist market throughout the world, which has seen significant developments (e.g. the collapse of the totalitarian Soviet bloc, the democratization of societies in the former communist countries, the formation of the European Union, etc.). The changes have led to the globalization of tourism supply and demand based on the ongoing integration of new countries and entire regions into the international tourist market. The paper aims to highlight the impact that these developments have had on defining tourism development trends in the 21st century, and to demonstrate how tourism products are used to meet customers' motivations, needs and expectations. The first part of the paper discusses the leading trends and their role in guiding the development of world tourism. The final section focuses on the megatrends that have emerged in the 21st century (especially international) tourist industry.
In this article, the author understands Ukraine and its history as integral components of Europe and European history. Thematically, the article consists of three parts. In the first part the author comprehends the concepts of Western, Central and Eastern Europe. The scholar believes that the concept of 'Central Europe' is artificial, so he considers only Western and Eastern Europe as primarily a cultural rather than a geographical phenomenon. By 'Eastern Europe' the author means the countries of the Byzantine-Turkic heritage. Thus, in the postwar period, the heart of Eastern Europe was the USSR, and the concept itself covered the countries of the Soviet bloc. However, with regard to Ukraine, the author attributes it politically and geographically to Eastern Europe, but culturally – to Western Europe. In the second part the author analyzes the concepts of 'Europeanism' and 'Europeanization' and in the third part the author comprehends Ukraine as a country of the Western European cultural space. Thus, Ukraine is not a Europeanized, but a historically European country. Factors that determine the Europeanness of Ukraine are: the adoption of Christianity; close economic, political, cultural and dynastic ties with the West; Ukraine's assimilation of the Western European system of law, in particular Magdeburg law, the Latin language of science and education. Ukraine experienced the same cultural currents and trends as Western Europe – the Renaissance, Baroque, Enlightenment and rationalism, romanticism, as well as European socio-political theories and teachings spread in Ukraine. In the end, Ukraine's Europeanness is determined by its long-term membership in the countries of the Western European cultural area – Poland and Lithuania. Thus, Ukraine does not need Europeanization, it is part of Europe, its eastern bastion. We only need to support and develop the European spirit of Ukraine.
The present article analyses the concept of Central and Eastern Europe. The term Central and Eastern Europe is defined, the evolution stages of concept and transformation of the term are described as well as the role and significance of Central and Eastern Europe in contemporary international relations are characterized. The author submits that the term Central and Eastern Europe is the most viable and efficient in comparison with the terms Central Europe, Eastern Europe, South-Eastern Europe, East-Central Europe. This definition has mainly political interpretation. Central and Eastern Europe does not contain as much myths, stereotypes and emotions as another equivalent terms. It means the determined geographical, economic, cultural space and political landscape which was included into Soviet bloc during the Cold War. The region of Central and Eastern Europe has specific features and reflects the trends which give us the opportunity to confirm its significant role in international relations. This space is at the core of the European project and the regional security.
The article examines the foreign policy of the USSR in the period from the July Revolution in 1952 in Egypt to the beginning of the Suez crisis in 1956. In this period, the Kremlin's attitude towards the Arab countries has been radically changed: if at the end of the Stalin era they were considered bourgeois collaborators of imperialism, in 1955 the Khrushchev leadership made a decisive bet on an alliance with the national liberation movement. All this time, the main problem for the Soviet Union in the region was the attempts of the United States and United Kingdom to unite the local states within a single military-political bloc under the Western aegis. In response to the creation of the Baghdad Pact in February 1955, Moscow began supplying weapons to Egypt and Syria, supporting the nationalist Arab regimes as opposed to the pro-Western conservative and Israel. The policy of the Soviet Union regarding the Arab-Israeli conflict also took a radical turn: from the neutral position of the post-Stalin era the Kremlin shifted to unilateral support of the Arab states; at the same time, Tel Aviv continued to be considered only as an «American puppet». In general, Moscow was not interested in settling the Middle East conflict, because such course of events could lead to the inclusion of the parties to the conflict in the Baghdad Pact and, consequently, to the complete control of the West over the region. In case of end to the confrontation between the Arabs and Israel, the USSR with its military and industrial-technical assistance would be unnecessary. This reason inevitably pushed Moscow to the union with Arab nationalists. The new Soviet foreign policy course found its consolidation in the conception of "peaceful coexistence", and mapping at the 20th Congress of the CPSU in February 1956.Within six months, it passed its testing during the Suez Crisis.

; With the collapse of the Soviet Union, the Poland turned out to be between the two creatures of power. The Federal Republic of Germany initially reluctantly perceived the Polish frontier, which was the subject of lengthy negotiations. Finally, the united Germany recognized the border along the Oder and Neisse in November 1990, and ratified the documents in December 1991. In turn, the Soviet Union, and since December 1991 – Russia – hastened to withdraw its troops from the Polish territory. After negotiations that lasted throughout the year – from September 1990 to October 1991 – a plan for the withdrawal of Russian troops was realised. The last soldier of the former Red Army left the Polish territory on September 18, 1993.In this situation Poland set one long-term, allied relationship with the United States as one of the strategic objectives of its own foreign policy, since only the United States at that time could protect a new democracy from external attacks of former empires. At the same time, we note that the relations of the Allies were called as strategic by the Poles themselves, not the Americans, and secondly, Poland did everything possible and impossible to be called an ally of the United States. Even threatened its membership in the European Union when the Poland supported United States in its military company against Iraq. The Polish calculation was justified: security could only be provided by the United States through membership in the North Atlantic Alliance. The United States "pulled" Poland into both NATO membership and membership of the EU, thus condemning the Poles to almost 80% of the external debt, adding enormous loans.Consequently, with the collapse of the Warsaw Military Bloc, Poland implements two main pillars: the path to NATO membership and the path to EU membership. The pursuit of NATO has always been the number one priority. Since 1989, the Poles see the United States as the main guarantor of their national security. On the other hand, Washington itself was deeply interested in spreading influence on the post-Soviet bloc, looking for support points in it.Poland, which was not only a buffer in the early stages of NATO's expansion to the East, but also an active participant and "leader" of all other "democracies" in the Alliance's security space, proved to bethe backbone. The North Atlantic Alliance, a key component of the United States, has been cementing Polish-American security cooperation for decades. In 2010, on the initiative of Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski and US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, the Strategic Dialogue launched in 2004 was reinstated. Poland was admitted to NATO with the Czech Republic and Hungary in March 1999, while join- ing the European Union was delayed until May 2004. Poland's realization of the European vector of the Eastern policy of the EU, faced with Russia's severe opposition, considered it as an intervention in its sphere of influence, gave Poland the opportunity to strengthen its position in the EU and NATO. The bilateral dialogue on this issue is being held in regular meetings of the Advisory Group on Strategic Cooperation (SCCG) and the High Level Group on Security (HLDG).Russia's aggressive actions against Ukraine dramatically changed the security situation around Poland and Europe at all. The concept introduces the expansion and unification of the European Union's Active Ballistic Missile Defence (ALTBMD) anti-missile defence system with American missile defence systems in Europe (radar in Turkey, bases in Romania and Poland, ships with Aegis systems in the Mediterranean). The priorities of Polish foreign policy was declared in March 2012 – in the new strategy of foreign policy. It was the first since 1989 a key document defining vectors of Polish diplomacy too. So "The strategy of Polish foreign policy 2017–2021" confirmed the priorities of the Polish state.

The publication of the law on the elections to the Verkhovna Rada of the Ukrainian SSR began a fierce confrontation between the communist government and the opposition in the struggle for parliamentary mandates. With the start of the election, the democratic opposition began political and organizational consolidation of its forces. The most influential pre-election opposition group was the Democratic bloc of Ukraine, which included mainly national-democratic organizations (e.g.: Narodniy Rukh Ukraine (Pepple's Movement of Ukraine), the Ukrainian Helsinki Union, the Taras Shevchenko Ukrainian language society, etc.). The main force of the Democratic bloc became Narodniy Rukh. The Democratic bloc did not include the organizations of the "new wave" from the South-East of Ukraine, which stood in positions of democratic socialism and liberal-democratic views and held the election campaign autonomously. However the leaders of these organizations evaluated the candidates from The Democratic bloc as political allies. Opposition leaders could not agree on creating a single electoral democratic front during the election.During the elections, the Democratic bloc became a "political umbrella", where members of Narodniy Rukh fought for the mandate, and simultaneously (at the same time accumulated all the organizational resources of the opposition forces of the Republic). The opposition did not have a united view on solving the main problems of society. In particular, the electoral platform of the participants in the Democratic bloc significantly varied, depending on the program of the member – organization or region in which the organization functioned. In particular, in the central and western regions of the Ukrainian SSR national-state requirements prevailed, and in the South and East of the republic the main attention was paid to socio-economic and environmental problems. However, almost all the opposition candidates asserted a program of political and economic reforms in order to achieve the sovereignty of Ukraine. Only individual candidates put forward slogans of revolutionary changes, however, they pepresented small radical wing of the opposition. In particular, any political force put forward a slogan on Ukraine's state independence. However, in comparison with the all-Union elections in 1989, the republic witnessed a sharp rise in anti-communist sentiments, that was manifested in mass demonstrations against the ruling party and the existing political regime (the so-called provincial revolutions). The sharp election campaign led to confrontation, and sometimes even open competition between the opposition candidates, which reduced their chances of victory.Pre-election struggle has become a formidable political confrontation. However, sharp political battles did not lead to any fights on the political, ethnic or religious grounds that took place in other Soviet republics. Attempts of the authorities to sow the atmosphere of uncertainty and fear in the society before the elections, in order to elect their pepresentatives to the parliament, caused a resolute opposition from the democratic forces in order to mantain the civil peace. In general, the parliamentary election campaign of 1990 demonstrated the political maturity of the opposition forces, their commitment to democratic principles, and the willingness to uncompromising struggle for state sovereignty of Ukraine, this time as an anti-communist parliamentary opposition in the Verkhovna Rada of the Ukrainian SSR ;
The article analyzes the place of Mozambique in the military-political strategy of the USSR in southern Africa. It is noted that its influence on the African continent of the USSR was aimed primarily at the use of combinations of political and diplomatic efforts, economic assistance and arms supplies. The cooperation between the USSR and the African states from the outset was deeply ideological. The purpose of the proposed study is to show the place of Mozambique in the military-political strategy of the USSR in southern Africa, paying attention to the ideological motives of foreign-policy actions. The research is based on such principles of historical knowledge as science, historicism, objectivity, systematic analysis, etc.The volume and character of the military and economic assistance of the USSR to Mozambique have been analyzed, which has been shown in the strengthening the country's defense capability and effectively created the Mozambican Armed Forces. Soviet officers created the General Staff, formed and prepared the main types of armed forces and forces of troops. Such forms of cooperation as the exchange of military delegations at all levels, mutual consultations with political bodies and armies have become widespread. The armed forces of the country received Soviet technique, specialists in working with this technique. Deliveries were made on preferential terms. The staff was trained at the training centers of the USSR.However, it is noted that the result of this assistance was that the Government of Mozambique declared the choice of the socialist path of development, as reflected in the new name of the country (People's Republic of Mozambique), and soon the relevant transformations began: nationalization of the main segments of the economy, carrying out an agrarian reform. In addition, in exchange for assistance, FRELIMO provided the Soviet navy with access to the deep-water Gulf near Maputo, which is very convenient for the creation of a submarine base. The socialist bloc also received the right of privileged access to the natural resources of the republic. It is concluded that in the late 1980's Mozambique remained one of the most loyal allies of Moscow in Africa. By giving Mozambique assistance in building the armed forces, Soviet leaders sought at any cost to keep it in the sphere of his influence. Among the reasons, it should be noted, above all, geopolitical factors, namely, the possibility of influencing neighboring South Africa. Besides, the Soviet fleet was in need of bases on the West African coast. However, the situation has changed as a result of the changes in Moscow itself - liberalization, reconstruction, and then the collapse of the USSR forced it to abandon its interests and to stop subsidies of the Union regimes.

The article analyzes theoretical approaches to the study of the consequences of the Chernobyl tragedy in the context of cultural searches of modernity in the prospect of "memorial paradigm." The aim is to bring the concept of perception of the Chernobyl accident and the "exclusion zone" as "cultural trauma" and "places of memory" in the background of Ukrainian national history. The subject of the article is the main milestones, directions and stages of artist Opanas Ivanovych Zalyvakha's participation in the Ukrainian national movement of 1960–1970s. The source base of the research is based on the documents of the Sectoral State Archive of the Security Service of Ukraine (SSA SSU) in Kyiv, samizdat materials, memoirs of O. Zalyvakha and his contemporaries. The methodological basis of the study is J. Seko's concept of the coexistence of two paradigms in the Ukrainian resistance movement of the 1950s and 1980s – national liberation (underground organizations) and nationalization (legal activity of the intelligentsia among the Sixties). The author concludes that the artist O. Zalyvakha from the early 1960s to the first half of the 1970s was an active participant in the environment of the Sixties human rights within the nationalization paradigm of the Ukrainian national movement. In the first half of the 1960's, the main forms of his dissident activity were the spread of samizdat, criticism of the Soviet government's policy in the national question, the production of Ukrainian national symbols. Living in Ivano-Frankivsk, the artist managed to establish contacts with Kyiv and Lviv dissidents. The arrest and trial of O. Zalyvakha could not stop his dissident activities and did not change his opposition views on the official policy of the Soviet regime. In the Mordovian colonies he took part in Ukrainian cultural events, created ex-librises with national symbols, set up channels for the transfer of documents and materials from the colony to freedom, wrote a statement of protest to the Chairman of the Supreme Court of the USSR. Acquaintance and close relations with V. Moroz, M. Soroka, I. Gel, S. Karavansky, J. Lesiv significantly strengthened O. Zalyvakha's views on the need for further struggle for the revival of Ukrainian national consciousness and culture. After his release, the most notable dissident action of the artist was his participation in the campaign to protect the convicted historian V. Moroz. Later, O. Zalyvakha, despite the fact that the KGB was taken into account as an object of the "Bloc" case, under the pressure of the regime almost completely stopped its activity in the direction of the resistance movement against the Soviet regime. Keywords: Opanas Zalyvakha, Ukrainian dissident movement, Sixties human rights, samizdat, Soviet regime, Mordovian colonies.
Discussions around various aspects of World War II in the world's scientific space and memory field have continued throughout the postwar decades. Initially, they were determined by polar and antagonistic ideological paradigms, and after the end of the Cold War – the discovery and introduction into scientific circulation of previously classified sources, testing of avant-garde methods of scientific knowledge, the development of interpretive tools. In the late 1930s, the Soviet Union found itself virtually isolated, alone with the Axis bloc and their allies. It was difficult for the Soviet leadership to overcome the existing threats on its own, especially after the German attack. Only the realization by the Western Allies that Berlin's aggressive course had become a global challenge made it possible to find a constructive way to join forces in the fight against a common enemy. One of the channels of cooperation between the states of the Anti-Hitler Coalition was the organization of supplies to the USSR of military equipment, ammunition, food, and materials necessary for the facilities of the Soviet military-industrial complex within the framework of the land lease program. Until recently, the problem of land lease was more in ideological discourse than in purely scientific. The currently available source base allows for an unbiased analysis of this phenomenon and elucidation of the place and role of foreign revenues to the USSR in strengthening its defense capabilities during the war against Germany and its allies. However, to this day, the researchers look out of focus, because of the perception of this phenomenon by veterans who fought on foreign military equipment, ate food from overseas. The authors of the article sees their task as combining these two dimensions of the lend-lease and finding out its impact not only on the scale of the large-scale armed confrontation, but also on the moral and psychological condition of the Red Army, for whom the war was an extremely difficult test.
