Although the political structure of Algeria is quite different from western countries, and although Algeria's budget is mainly from oil revenues and thus is not sustainable as western countries, all countries shared relatively common failures regarding environmental sustainability. This paper argues that failure to achieve sustainability will continue in all countries because of similarities of several phenomena regardless of political diversity. Phenomena such as: 1) the ambiguity of defining environmental, economic and social sustainability; 2) the impossibility of having the power or the means to implement agreements, rules or regulations to achieve sustainable environments; 3) the equilibrium between development and sustainability is not yet found economically; 4) conflict of interests between generations on the one hand, and between developed and less develop countries on the other, were never solved except in written formats or agreements that were not often applied. Thus, all attempts to achieve sustainability will remain tacit unrealized potentials within current political structures.

Preoccupation with the environment has gained increasing prominence, reflected in social and political demands for general public participation in the conception ad implementation of long-term strategy for defined geographical or administrative areas. In this context, the Blue Plan has developed, tested and consolidated a method of systemic, predictive and proactive analysis "Imagine", that proposes tools for describing, evaluating and investigating the degree of sustainability of a socio-ecosystem. It is based on a participatory approach that considers local stakeholders and others involved as experts in their area.

While digital labour platforms are booming, their ability to constitute a sustainable alternative to the managerial firm and to salaried work is questionable. To date, this debate has been approached mainly from legal or political angles, and the organizational sustainability of such platforms remains underexplored. We respond to calls to study more specifically the cognitive capabilities of platforms by mobilizing knowledge-based theories of the firm. We contribute to the literature in three ways: (1) we introduce the concept of 'cognitive sustainability', which we define as the capacity to ensure the integration, conservation and creation of knowledge; (2) we develop a set of propositions aimed at identifying the activities that platforms are most likely to carry out in a cognitively sustainable way; (3) we argue for the possibility of an increased hybridization of digital labour platforms to perform complex activities. Mobilizing knowledge-based theories of the firm to explore new objects such as platforms and taking such hybridization processes into account adds to this body of literature by extending its application domain and taking a more dynamic perspective.

The subject of my PhD is The sustainability of capital accumulation and its regimes : a strong sustainability macroeconomic approach. It is composed of two parts. The first one is composed of two chapters that review the literature on two aspects : The first chapter tackles the debate on stationary capitalism. It reviews the way capitalism is taken into account by ecological economists and analyzes it in light of historical examples of ecological crises and of insights from eco-marxist theories. Chapter 2 tackles the debate about the so-called monetary growth imperative analysed from a post-Keynesian point of view. The second part is a more empirical one and is composed of three chapters. Chapter 3 attempts at framing the exergy-useful work approach into a régulationnist theoretical framework informed with insights from the Carbon democracy approach. It investigates the social relationship to energy in the Fordist and Neoliberal accumulation regimes. The fourth chapter attempts at furthering the third chapter by investigating the CO2 - GDP relationship through econometric means taking into account structural breaks between accumulation regimes and possible asymmetries. Chapter 5 investigates the commitment of countries to reduce their greenhousegas emissions within the context of globalized finance-led capitalism.
