Education for safety is an exceptionally topical issue in the modern world. It is an indispensable tool for achieving the goals of sustainable development. Who, when and where to educate; what tools to use; and according to what idea – these are essential questions related to raising human awareness. The aim of the article is to analyze and assess the awareness of society in terms of knowledge and skills in the field of safe behavior and attitude, the perception of safety in the context of sustainable development. The results of the research presented in the articleclearly indicate a high level of public involvement in acquiring knowledge and skills on safe behaviours and attitudes. The conclusions obtained allow to develop a strategy that will permit to develop an education system for safety (that will consider formal and informal education) as well as self-education. These conclusions constitute the basis for building cooperation between central government and local government units, educational units, and non-governmental organisations.
The goal of the study is to analyze the non‑Western interpretations of sustainable development concept and the role of international organizations and international public goods in their potential realization. Numerous political and economic contradictions generated by the experiences of colonization and decolonization of the region make Western and regional understanding of the concept substantially different. While from the global perspective it is perceived as an imperative, locally it may be interpreted as a veiled form of neocolonialism. The differences result in wide range of problems, from minor misunderstandings to open resentment. The goal of the article is to prove that regional international organizations and international public goods have the potential to become a key to develop mutually acceptable form of sustainable development concept and practice.
This text attempts to answer the main research question: what opportunities and challenges are facing the development cooperation implemented by Poland in the second decade of the 21st century? The following issues were considered in the analysis: the legal and institutional framework of Polish development cooperation, its geographical and thematic concentration, and financial resources allocated to these activities. A new quality in this area of Polish policy was introduced by the Act on development cooperation adopted in 2011, as well as by the articulation, through multi‑annual programs, of the preferred specialization of Polish activities in this field. However, there are still reservations regarding the cohesion of programming of Polish development cooperation with the EU and the global development agenda, the state's fulfilment of international commitments and the level of ODA financing, due to which Poland's participation in the global ODA system remains marginal.
Institutions are playing an increasingly important role in creating sustainable development policies, both at the macro and micro level. They shape the rules related to the functioning of enterprises, social development and environmental protection. The aim of this article is to analyze the relationship between selected institutional conditions of company operations and the ability of companies to adapt/co-create the requirements of sustainable development and create their business strategies based on the discussed concept. On the basis of the considerations carried out, it should be stated that the process of adapting business to the Agenda 2030 and the set objectives of sustainable development is largely adaptive in nature, adopting the imposed institutional order: international and national. This process is stretched in time and is characterized by different dynamics, depending on the degree of development of socio-economic systems in individual countries and regions and standardization of international standards.
The article aims to observe the purpose and subject of "public policy sciences" from the perspective of living space. The role of housing policy and settlement in this respect is at the core of the paper reasoning. This article provides a scientific reflection on the need for considering the issue of new technologies and their development in contemporary social policy in Poland. The article focuses on three selected areas of social policy, which are most intensively influenced by the development of new technologies: labor market policies, education policies, and telecare, including some elements of senior policies. The publication initiates further discussion on the current challenges and dilemmas faced by social policymakers. It corresponds to the specific experiences of the COVID-19 pandemic related to intensified, technologically mediated forms of communication and remote forms of using social services. It argues that rapid development of new technologies changes the goals and ways of putting social policies into practice. Drawing on theoretical assumptions of technological determinism and new institutionalism, the article aims to conclude that adequate institutional and legislative changes should be the consequence of technological changes and they should lead to greater compatibility of systemic solutions with citizens' everyday practice.
India is a pluralistic, multilingual and multi-ethnic country located in Southeast Asia. It is the 2nd largest populated country which has the 7th position in the geographical area. Since 1990 India has emerged as one of the wealthiest economies in the developing world. Recently it is the second fastest growing major economy in the world. Despite the fact that economical development in India has been accompanied by increases in life expectancy, literacy rates and food security, India's performance in the area of health care has been still far from satisfactory. The system of financing health care as a one of the most privatized in the world faces especially many problems. This paper would therefore attempt to describe and assess the system of financing health care in India. In order to outline to the readers the overall country context the first section will provide a brief description of the demographic, economic and health profile of the Indian population. The second and third sections will present the main methods of funding health care in India as well as and the budget of health care system. The concluding section would attempt to assess the financing system in India and offer a way forward for the better achievement of health care system goals.
The aim of the study is to indicate structural mechanisms of revitalization of urban residential and settlement housing in post-war developed market economies and in Poland after 1989. In an attempt to achieve this goal, a retrospective approach was applied. A rather one-sided sharpening of the shortcomings of the revitalization presented in the paper by submitting them to structural mechanical dependencies served to suggest deeper sources of sufficiently ambiguous results in this field related to the paradigm of market economic growth. In this way, the necessity was indicated to counteract this approach towards the realization of the paradigm of sustainable development as an indispensable condition for satisfying achievements in the field of revitalization of fragments of space inhabited as an important factor of balancing the development of the inhabited space. Against this background, significant opportunities exist for revitalizing activities, giving the chances of running beyond the mechanical rhythm of market waves, in older housing estates with inherited solid functional and spatial composition.
The article aims to evaluate the process of creation and the content of urban development strategies of Polish cities in the context of the premises of the reform of the development management system in 2020 and recommendations from the literature. The evaluation focuses on two aspects: integration of socio-economic and spatial development planning, and the implementation scheme. The analysis covered four regional capitals that have adopted new strategies: Gorzów Wielkopolski, Łódź, Białystok, and Lublin. The research was pursued by reviewing strategies and interviewing individuals responsible for creating the strategy. The findings confirm that the goal of integration of socio-economic and spatial development planning has proved difficult to accomplish, and legislative changes have failed to overcome the dysfunction of development planning in Poland. Considering implemen-tation schemes, the approach to monitoring and evaluation was appreciated, while insti-tutional implementation systems raised some issues. The article offers some explanations of local governments' attitudes to strategic planning, highlights best practices and advice for development policies, and presents city representatives' views on legislative changes.
The sustainable development issue since 60s of XX century is present on the international debate. One of the areas discussed in the sustainable development context is the climate change and energy and this in different ways for example taking energy from renewable energy sources, primary energy consumption or greenhouse gas emission. It goes probably from the connection between the energy sector and interference into the natural environment, the exploitation the natural sources and its high emission, what has a special meaning nowadays. that is why European Union starts to thing about special meaning of this issue, can we find this in its strategy documents. The main aim of this work is the attempt assessment the level of realization the sustainable development in climate change and energy area in Poland and comparing that to the other European countries. The sustainable development in the climate change and energy has been shown in Polish and European countries strategy. The comparative analysis Poland to the other EU countries has been done. The state documents and study literature have been used in this article. The comparative analysis were based on data form Eurostat.

The main threat to the economic development of Poland is the danger of overlapping of two processes – the decline in the growth of the working age population and the outflow of young, talented and educated people to richer countries. Therefore, the most important goal of the economic policy should be rapid making up the gap to the average EU level. This can be impeded by the current state of public finances, due to high level of debt. Moreo-ver, there are also other factors, which under certain conditions, may lead to a cumulative negative effect, which in turn would threaten the financial stability of the budget. At the same time, the bases of competitiveness of the economy gradually expire, which requires transition to the competition of a qualitative nature. According to the Author, an oppor-tunity to avoid the threat is to use the global market more extensively. He suggests public innovation in a form of the so-called smart company incubators.
The aim of the article is to indicate the importance of local food and short supply chains in the implementation of the concept of the sustainable development of agriculture and rural areas, and to present the European Union's actions in this field. These actions are concentrated in the Common Agricultural Policy. When preparing the text, the descriptive method and an analysis of the literature were utilised. In the context of diverse challenges facing the economy of the modern world, the development of local food systems, meaning production, processing and trade in a relatively small area, is particularly important. It brings an important contribution to solving the problems arising from progressive globalisation and constitutes a significant element of sustainable development around the world. Focusing attention on the development of local food systems in the agricultural policy of the European Union allows its main objectives to be realized, in particular the preservation of food security and safety, through maintaining local production capacity, ensuring a transparent process of food production and caring for sustainable development of the entire agri-food sector, among others. Przywiązywanie szczególnej wagi w polityce rolnej Unii Europejskiej do rozwoju lokalnych systemów żywności pozwala osiągać jej główne cele, zwłaszcza zachowanie bezpieczeństwa żywnościowego i żywności, m.in. dzięki utrzymaniu lokalnych zdolności wytwórczych, zapewnieniu transparentnego procesu produkcji żywności oraz dbaniu o zrównoważony rozwój całego sektora rolno-spożywczego.
The article is an attempt to organize considerations of animal protection within the framework of the new EU development strategy. The European Green Deal is a comprehensive strategy to transform the EU into a modern resource-efficient and competitive economy, which takes into account all dimensions of sustainable development, including animal protection. Member States are required to develop and implement strategic plans approved by the European Commission to implement the new strategy. The article is of a scientific and research character. The author put forward research hypotheses and tried to prove them within the framework of the conducted analysis. First, the coronavirus crisis highlighted the importance of a robust and resilient food system and the interconnectedness of animal health, supply chains, and public health. Second, with sustainability as a cornerstone of the EU's functioning, undesirable interplay can also be observed with respect to biodiversity, climate change, and other environmental issues. Climate change can affect the emergence of new diseases, the prevalence of existing diseases and the geographical distribution of pathogens and vectors, including those that affect wildlife. Thirdly, in order to ensure high animal and public health standards and rational development of agriculture, legislative solutions at the EU level should be put in place which would contribute to the completion of the internal market and to preventing the spread of communicable diseases. This legislation should also ensure, as far as possible, that the existing animal health status of the EU is maintained and promoted. The results of the study are original and innovative, which makes them a valuable source of knowledge.
The presence of an extensive number of Polish immigrants in Ireland has a short history, which began after Poland's accession to the EU. Therefore, the organizations that have been set up since 2004 were to a high degree built up with no or little impact of the existing tradition of immigrant structures and institutions. This makes Ireland a specific laboratory for testing a new model of immigrants' organization of the 21st century. The article aims to describe the development of Polish immigrant organizations in Ireland and to present their characteristics, including their goals, activities, the role of new media and technology, as well as the patterns of participation and communication. The detailed presentation of these characteristics and case studies serves the goal of answering the question: if and to what extent "young" Polish immigrant organizations in Ireland can be seen as the forerunners of a new model of immigrants' organization of the 21st century.
