This paper analyzes the way the Flemish administration dealt with the competence transfer in the field of agriculture it experienced in 2001-2002. The main research question goes as follows: "Which factors have an impact on a successful competence transfer in the context of a state reform." This research shows that the decision-making process has a negative impact on that success because of the difficulties the administration experiences with the translation of the vague political compromises in the law. On the other hand, there is evidence that the change management willingness & capacity of the 'receiving' Flemish & 'losing' federal administration have a positive influence on that success. Imitating models was the main early modern poetical principle. This study discusses Dutch novelistic prose translated from three European bestsellers: François de Bellesforest's Histoires Tragiques (translation 1612), John Barclay's Argenis (translations 1640-1681), and Antoine Torche's Le Chien de Boulogne (translation 1681). Confirming Burke's thesis of cultural hybridity the translations reflect balancing acts between accepting and resisting the contents and morals of their models. Only Torche's Chien is transformed into a cultural translation, by adding a new Dutch narrative to its first chapters. Save this added Dutch narrative, all three bestsellers are translated docilely and accurately. This seems to indicate that novelistic prose served to make a profit, financing other commodities of the publishers. Nevertheless, at the same time translators Reinier Telle, Gerbrandt Bredero, Jan Glazemaker, and maybe Timotheus ten Hoorn, like canaries in coal mines, may have given their readers alarming signals on social behavior.

Summary
Due to the digitization of sources, humanities scholars have to develop new research questions and methodologies. This article theorizes the 'digital turn' by looking at three challenges: the necessity of combining qualitative and quantitative methods; the dilemma of multidisciplinary cooperation; and the ideological question of why and how the humanities should be concerned with a new digital materiality. We need the expertise of humanities scholars – their critical insights, analytical acuity, and knowledge of ambiguity and diversity – to make sense of a digital culture that permeates and directs our daily life.

Abstract
Quality criteria for qualitative research: which terms do you use as a qualitative researcher?
About 35 years ago, Lincoln and Guba developed four quality criteria for qualitative research – credibility, transferability, dependability and confirmability – as a counterpart for the criteria that were developed within the positivist research paradigm. Qualitative researchers differ in their use of quality criteria. The authors argue that qualitative researchers should preferably use quality criteria that have been developed within the interpretivist research paradigm. They also mention that it is difficult to find an adequate Dutch translation for the concepts of dependability and confirmability. These concepts are currently translated in different ways. The authors end the article with a proposal for the translation of these four quality criteria into Dutch.

Since 11 September 2001 - and especially since the murder of Theo van Gogh - Muslims and Islam have frequently been unfavourably portrayed at the heart of public debate. Manifestations of Islamophobia can be found on the Internet, in comments by the PVV, and in acts of violence committed against mosques. Dutch anti-discrimination policies are coming under pressure now that this ideology has forced its way to the centre of the political stage. How do negative connotations about Muslims come about? Where are the acts
