This article presents some of the results of the "Experimental project of the book 'Street Writings: graffiti and pixação of the city of Manaus'" developed as a final paper apresentation of the course of Social Communication, Journalism, at the Federal University of Amazonas. We adopted the expression "street writing" because it is a frequent self-denomination among artists working in this segment, as well as the spellings "graffiti" and "pixação" because they do not have a consensus among authors. We understand the city as a production space of languages and communication where the graffiti and pixação are signs systems that articulate a place of occupation and resistance. Disclose Manaus's street writings is importance as a record, and it is an invitation to broaden the eyes, especially among scholars in communication.
This paper discusses the project Writreadings: a way of "reading--writing" amidst life, with financial support by the CAPES/INEP Education Observatory, effective from January 2011 through December 2014. Articulating basic education teachers, undergraduate and graduate students and participant researchers, it takes place at four centers in the following universities: UFRGS, UFPel, UFMT, and UNIOESTE/PR. Including research, teaching and cultural extension, worked on in the perspective of thinking the difference in education, the Project develops various Writreadings workshops, which produce reading and writing skills, in co-authorship between reader and writer. Operating with the Translation Didactics, it articulates the philosophical, scientific and artistic dimensions to perform vital trans-creation processes that are trans-disciplinary, trans-lingual and trans-cultural. Writreadings is always a political act, which does not assimilate the other to oneself, but overcomes distances and transposes foreign cultures ones to the others. By using the artistic didactics of translation and the cartographic method, what modifies the original is trans-creation, rather than copies, as a heterophilia, undoing sedentary identities. Operating under the fascination of inter-influences introduced by contemporary languages, it involves the invention of a critical-selective corpus that accurately links the concepts of poetic translation, intertextuality, and relations between different sign systems.
In relation to United Nations Literacy Decade (2003- 2012), are being developed in Brazil many public policies on education and literacy. The results of these public policies indicate both noisy conquest of some advances as the worsening of many historical problems. Among these, we highlight the result of silencing of discussion around the concept of restricted and rudimentary literacy, on which, in line with neoliberal political model, are based educational policies and corresponding systems assessment of skills and competencies of reading and writing, which it is hoped that students learn and which are defi ning the role of the teacher as a mere provider of strategies for such learning. Based on this hypothesis, we present, in a tone of critical balance, refl ections on the Decade of Literacy in order to contribute to the discussion of problems and perspectives for teaching reading and writing in Brazil.

Body, Identity, Desire and PowerThis article describes romantic/sexual exchanges between local men known as 'gringa-hunters' and foreign female tourists in Praia da Pipa's (Kite Beach), Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil. Body markers and the systems of differentiation they are referenced upon are analyzed. An account is provided of how the men and women involved in these relationships manipulate power structures and cultural stereotypes. The discursive construction of a mixed-blood sensuous Brazilianness is tracked back in classical writings, from Caminha's narrative of an Eden-on-earth, to Gilberto Freyre's interpretations about racial democracy and the ideology of hybrid-making (mestic?agem). Those master narratives dialogue with field observation and interview data revealing how agents appropriate and provide their own meaning to those constructions. Keywords: embodiment; cac?a-gringas; sexual tourism; power
