In this work, it is revealed the mutual influence and reciprocal contribution between socialist Zionism and socialism through an explicative outline of the nationalism-internationalism interaction. It implies a historical reference from social reality by means of a description of the cultural, intellectual and political activities that, jointly, the socialist Jews carried out with Jose Carlos Mariategui, the leader and founder of socialism in Peru. They were twinned by their common ideal of social emancipation and struggle against any oppression kind during the second half of the 1920 decade, around the celebrations for the Centennial of Independence. For that reason, it is also examined the similarities or shared elements in the ideology and political thought of the concerned parties, to establishing finally the specific link between socialist Zionists and Mariategui. ; Se revelan la interinfluencia y la contribución recíproca entre sionismo socialista y socialismo peruano, mediante un esquema explicativo de interacción entre nacionalismo e internacionalismo. Se toma como referente de la realidad histórica las actividades culturales, intelectuales y políticas que, en forma conjunta, llevaron a cabo los judíos socialistas con José Carlos Mariátegui, líder y fundador del socialismo peruano, durante la segunda mitad de la década de 1920, en el marco del Centenario de la Independencia y en razón al ideal común de emancipación social y lucha contra cualquier tipo de opresión que los hermanaba. Se indagará acerca de los elementos comunes en el ideario o pensamiento de las partes referidas, para finalmente establecer el vínculo específico entre los sionistas socialistas y Mariátegui.

Hannah Arendt began her political activities in Zionism as a vindication of a political space for the Jewish people, recognized as a people, and also as a fight against Nazi totalitarianism. Her request of a Jewish army during the Second World War is related to these sovereignist interests. ; Hannah Arendt inició sus actividades políticas en el sionismo como reivindicación de la lucha del pueblo judío, como pueblo, por la obtención de un espacio político propio y contra el totalitarismo nazi. Su defensa de la creación de un ejército judío durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial obedece a estos intereses soberanistas.

El autor del artículo, actualmente profesor de Filosofía en el I.E.S. The objective of this essay is to analyze the Costa Rican Zionist movement with the propose to explore the organization, ideological dissemination, and discourses about Zionism and the Jewish community exposed into the HATIKVA, a newspaper of the Jewish youth movement called Juventud Sionista Unida of Costa Rica. Based on the above, this paper intends to expand the knowledge of the ideological, political, and socio-cultural environment of the Costa Rican Kehilah, and its link with the international Zionist movement as part of the ethnic-transnational diasporic dynamic during the turbulent conjecture of the 1930s and 1940s for the Jewish diaspora. ; El objetivo de este ensayo es analizar el movimiento sionista en Costa Rica con el propósito de explorar su organización, la difusión ideológica y los discursos sobre el sionismo y la comunidad judía desplegados durante 1931-1945 en el rotativo de la Juventud Sionista Unida de Costa Rica denominado HATIKVA. Con base en lo anterior, se plantea ampliar el conocimiento del entorno ideológico, político y sociocultural de la kehilá costarricense, al igual que su vinculación con el movimiento sionista internacional como parte de una dinámica diaspórico etno-transnacional durante la convulsa coyuntura de la década de los años treinta y cuarenta para los judíos en diáspora.

The Palestinian – Israeli conflict is a political conflict determined by the use that actors, Israel, the Palestinian National Authority and resistance movements, make of power and its different historic and media manifestations. It is necessary to question on the origin of the problem, particularly when inquiring on the false conception of the Jewish nation as a theoretical corpus, so that way to understand how radicalisms have been crucial in the escalade of aggressions in Palestine. The article revises, consequently, different conceptions of power, searches for their use in the structure of the conflict and ends up with an analysis of the actors' actions, in terms of power itself. ; El conflicto Palestino – Israelí es un conflicto político, determinado por el uso que los actores, Israel, la Autoridad Nacional Palestina y los movimientos de resistencia, hacen del poder y sus diferentes manifestaciones, tanto históricas como mediáticas. Es necesario cuestionar sobre el origen del problema, en particular cuando se indaga sobre el falso concepto de la nación judía como corpus teórico, para así entender cómo los radicalismos han sido determinantes en la escalada de las agresiones en Palestina. El artículo hace, en consecuencia, un recorrido por diferentes concepciones de poder, busca su aplicación en la estructura del conflicto y finaliza con el análisis de la acción de los actores, en función del poder mismo.

The Palestinian National Movement (PNM) of the interwar period is revisited using a comparative perspective that examines the actors involved and also external actors and that, together with other contributions made by recent studies, sheds new light on the movement's structural weaknesses and limitations in overcoming the colonial challenges it faced. Originating in unison with Arab nationalism in the Ottoman domains of the Middle East in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, the PNM confronted the challenges, both material and existential, of the Zionist colonial project endorsed by Great Britain, the Mandate power in Palestine. Never fully consolidated, with a fragmented structure and weak leadership, the PNM opposed Zionist plans using predominantly peaceful resistance for nearly two decades until all of its hopes were dashed. This, along with the gradual de- mographic and political transformation of Palestine, led to the radicalization of its social bases and one of the earliest anti-colonial rebellions of the twentieth century. The repres- sion and dismantling of the PNM in 1939 left Palestinian society extenuated and deprived of a national movement and political leadership much needed at a crucial moment in its history, when its territory was subjected to partition. ; El Movimiento Nacional Palestino (MNP) del periodo de entreguerras es revisitado a la luz de una perspectiva comparada con los actores de su entorno y externos que, junto a las aportaciones de nuevos estudios, muestra sus debilidades y limitaciones estructurales para superar los desafíos coloniales a los que se enfrentó. Originado al unísono del nacionalismo árabe en los dominios otomanos en Oriente Próximo entre finales del siglo XIX y principios del XX, el MNP se enfrentó al reto material y existencial del proyecto colonial sionista avalado por Gran Bretaña, la potencia mandataria en Palestina. Sin consolidarse del todo, con una estructura fragmentada y un liderazgo débil, el MNP se opuso a dichos planes mediante una resistencia predominantemente pacífica durante cerca de dos décadas hasta la frustración de sus expectativas, con la gradual transformación demográfica y política de Palestina, que propició la radicalización de sus bases sociales y una de la más tempranas rebeliones anticoloniales del siglo XX. La represión y el desmantelamiento del MNP en 1939 dejó a la sociedad palestina exhausta y huérfana de un movimiento na- cional y dirección política en un momento crucial de su historia, cuando su territorio fue sometido a la partición.

The present article examines the role of Dov Ber Borochov's Marxist thought in the reconstruction of Latin American Jewish identity between the 1950s and 1970s. Borochov (1881-1917) fashioned the most compelling synthesis between Jewish aspirations for national self-determination and the basic premises of historical materialism. The translation of his major works into Spanish and its diffusion among the most politicized sectors of Latin America's Jewish youth enabled Zionism to participate in the period's revolutionary discourse. By reading Borochov and his various interpreters, the present author claims that several generations of leftwing Latin American Jews were able to maintain a Jewish identity and expressloyalty to the State of Israel in a manner that dovetailed smoothly with local revolutionary ideological movements. ; El presente artículo se ocupa del papel que el pensamiento marxista de Dov Ber Bórojov desempeñó en el proceso de renovación de la identidad judía latinoamericana entre los años 50 y los años 70 del siglo pasado. Ber Bórojov (1881-1917) es el teórico que de manera más brillante y exitosa consiguió sintetizar las aspiraciones del pueblo judío a la autodeterminación nacional con las premisas más elementales del materialismo histórico. La traducción de sus obras al español, y su difusión entre sectores politizados de la juventud judía en América Latina, dio pie a que el sionismo pudiera ser insertado dentro del discurso revolucionario de este periodo. La tesis fundamental de este ensayo, consiste en que la lectura de Bórojov así como de sus diversos intérpretes, ayudó a que varias generaciones de judíos latinoamericanos de orientación izquierdista, pudieran renovar su identidad judía y su lealtad con el Estado de Israel, en un contexto en el que los movimientos revolucionarios locales resultabansumamente atractivos.

To investigate the proposed topic, we will address historical characteristics of Judaism, anti-Semitism and Zionism, as well as Islamism. Anti-Semitism, as millenary and primary discrimination, has marked mythologies, expulsions and mass murders, which led to the rise of political Zionism. From the first Crusades of Christianity, Islam also built a mythology in which historical tensions of the Arab world with the West persist, renewed from the emergence of the Jewish State. As inputs to pave the way for a comprehensive and as enlightening as possible analysis, we will draw on various historiographical and international relations theoretical frameworks. The aim of our work is to present a chronology of the creation of the State of Israel and the generation of the Arab-Palestinian, Israeli-Jewish conflict. The final purpose is to reflect on the dilemma of this complex and painful conflict more than centennial and still in force, and encourage the contribution of constructive looks. ; Para indagar en el tema propuesto abordaremos características históricas del judaísmo, el antisemitismo y el sionismo, así como del islamismo. El antisemitismo, como discriminación milenaria y primaria, ha marcado mitologías, expulsiones y asesinatos masivos, que derivaron en el surgimiento del sionismo político. A partir de las primeras Cruzadas del cristianismo, también el islamismo construyó una mitología en la que persisten tensiones históricas del mundo árabe con Occidente, renovadas a partir del surgimiento del Estado judío. Como insumos para allanar el camino de un análisis abarcativo y lo más esclarecedor posible, abrevaremos de diversos marcos teóricos historiográficos y de Relaciones Internacionales. El objetivo de nuestro trabajo es presentar una cronología de la creación del Estado de Israel y la generación del conflicto árabe palestino, judío israelí. El propósito final es reflexionar sobre el dilema de este complejo y doloroso conflicto más que centenario y aún vigente, e incentivar el aporte de miradas constructivas.

This article analyses the Israeli-Palestinian conflict from the perspective of social psychology and the history of Zionist political ideas. The aim is to deconstruct the national Zionist identity, deconstructing the main myths and narratives that made it possible to establish a national connection between the Palestinian lands and the future Jewish State. Then, through the statements and plans of the main Zionist leaders, an attempt will be made to demonstrate that this national project inevitably involves the expulsion of the local Arab population, thus initiating what is a problem of a colonial nature that still persists today. ; Este artículo analiza el conflicto israelí-palestino desde la visión de la psicología social y la historia de las ideas políticas sionistas. Se trata para ello de hacer una deconstrucción de la identidad nacional sionista, deconstruyendo los principales mitos y narraciones que posibilitaron establecer una conexión nacional entre las tierras palestinas y el futuro Estado judío. A continuación, mediante las propias declaraciones y planes de los principales líderes sionistas, se tratará de demostrar que dicho proyecto nacional suponía inevitablemente la expulsión de la población árabe local, iniciando así lo que es un problema de carácter colonial que aún hoy persiste. ; Cet article analyse le conflit israélo-palestinien du point de vue de la psychologie sociale et de l'histoire des idées politiques sionistes. L'objectif est de déconstruire l'identité nationale sioniste, de déconstruire les principaux mythes et récits qui ont permis d'établir un lien national entre les terres palestiniennes et le futur État juif. Ensuite, à travers les déclarations et les plans des principaux dirigeants sionistes, une tentative sera faite pour démontrer que ce projet national impliquait inévitablement l'expulsion de la population arabe locale, initiant ainsi un problème de nature coloniale qui persiste encore aujourd'hui.

Aranzadi's book (2001), El Escudo de Arquiloco (The Coat of Arms of Arquiloco) raised great debates in Spain, exacerbated by the events of September 11, 2001 in the US & March 11, 2004 in Spain, even to the extent of personally attacking Aranzadi's personality. He discussed themes from this book on the connection between religion, politics, & ethnic conflict. Aranzadi believes it is possible to be against the ETA in the Basque Country without having to support the current Constitution. He describes the political situation in the Basque Country & party alliances under the constitutional movement & contrasts Basque & Spanish nationalism in a discussion of nation & citizenship. Aranzadi comments on the situation in Israel, given the similarities between Basque nationalism & Zionism noted in his book, & on the importance of religion in the US. La filosofía de Hannah Arendt es una propuesta que trata de dar remedio a los males de la política apostando por la democracia esencial. En la Europa de los años treinta del pasado siglo el totalitarismo era, sin duda, el mayor mal que jamás la política pudo imaginar. En el caso de Alemania el autoritarismo trajo consigo el asesinato de miles de judíos. Arendt, ella misma judía, trata de analizar las múltiples aristas y buscar sentido en este complejo fenómeno. Su interpretación es escandalosa para la comunidad judía, problemática a todas luces desde una mirada retrospectiva para el resto del mundo. ; Hannah Arendt's philosophy is a proposal that tries to offer a vision about political evils and emphasizing on the essential democracy. During the 30's Europe suffers the hugest political evil that we ever couldn't have imagined. Referring to Germany, authoritarianism caused the death of thousands of Jews. Arendt, Jewish herself, tries to analyze the several perspectives of this phenomenon and find out a sense on it. Her interpretation is quite shocking for the Jewish community and obviously problematic for the rest of the world.

This paper explores the complex and heterogeneous discourses on colonialism expressed in European socialist cultures from the middle of the 19th century to the first decades of the 20th century. All this by examining the ideology typified by Karl Marx and other socialist figures, and by analyzing debates in socialist conferences, i.e. those articulated by the Peruvian Marxist politician José Carlos Mariátegui, and the historian Tony Judt. The discussion focuses on whether the Zionist kibbutzim truly symbolizes the historical relationship between socialism and colonialism: equality and utopia for white people, versus indifference or legitimation in relation to dispossession, segregation and even ethnic cleansing for non-Europeans. A study of the historical connection between European socialist cultures and colonialism may reveal some of the key factors behind present-day Eurocentric thought and the relationship between Europe and the rest of the world. ; El presente trabajo pretende examinar los complejos y diversos discursos sobre el colonialismo de algunas culturas políticas socialistas europeas, entre mediados del siglo XIX y las primeras décadas del XX. Para ello se revisan el pensamiento de Karl Marx y de otras figuras socialistas, debates de congresos socialistas y las figuras del político marxista peruano José Carlos Mariátegui y el historiador Tony Judt. En el centro de la discusión se sitúa la pregunta acerca de si los kibbutzim sionistas pueden simbolizar la relación histórica entre socialismo y colonialismo: igualdad y utopía, para las personas blancas, e indiferencia o legitimación ante la desposesión, la segregación e incluso la limpieza étnica, para las personas extraeuropeas. El objetivo es indagar en la relación histórica entre las culturas políticas socialistas europeas y la cuestión colonial como medio para ayudar a comprender algunas de las claves contemporáneas del pensamiento eurocéntrico y de la relación entre Europa y el resto de continentes.
