Examines "The National Security Strategy of the United States of America," released in Sept 2002, arguing that it is an expression of imperialism. Each section is described, beginning with President George W. Bush's introductory letter, which implies that people everywhere want the kind of commercial democracies that exist in the West. The preamble reasserts that US principles of liberty & justice are "right and true for all people everywhere," while a later section focuses on the need to "rid the world of evil," through direct action that uses "all the elements of our national and international power." It is avowed that "we will not hesitate to act alone." Other matters covered include problems created by nations that seek to obtain weapons of mass destruction; the utopian promises of free markets; the need for international flows of investment capital to increase the productive capacity of other economies; & the US pledge to "dissuade future military competition." It is concluded that the document supports a view of the US as an intolerant/dogmatic nation. J. Lindroth
