In this work, we present an overview of the historical development of socially responsible investing (SRI). We will argue that such a financial activity has been boosting in recent decades from a niche, mainly as a religious-led exclusionary practice, towards a mainstream strategy of risk analysis for institutional and retail investors. We also discuss the advances and possible drawbacks that regulatory activity and harmonization process on such industry have achieved at international level in recent years, with a special focus on the European Union. The study shows that the lack of a globally accepted taxonomy on what constitutes sustainable activities, of regulatory clarity and of high-quality data allowing for comparisons across industries and regions, together with practical and behavioural complexities are major critical issues that discourage SRI industry at the global level.

The article presents a theoretical and discursive understanding of international terrorism and links the hegemonic power relations constituting the international order with the formation of global discourses on international terrorism. Starting from the understanding of international terrorism as a discursive construction, it analyses theoretically the implication of labelling a specific kind of violence as "terrorism" and the resulting depoliticization and securitization. Grounded in these theoretical reflections, it is argued here that the discursive construction of a specific kind of violence such as international terrorism at a global standardised level depends on the power relations that constitute the international community, its identity and its legitimacy – i.e., the reason of state, the reason of the system and the reason of civilisation. The main thesis is that, from this theoretical perspective, the historical discursive formations of international terrorism centred on a specific kind of violence representing an ideological threat to these power relations, their universality and legitimacy. The article presents a genealogy of these standardised discursive formations which emerged at an international level in contemporary history and it deconstructs these formations through the theoretical approach presented here. ; Este artículo presenta un acercamiento teórico-discursivo al terrorismo internacional, y vincula las relaciones de poder hegemónicas que constituyen el orden internacional con la formación de los discursos globales sobre terrorismo internacional. Al entender el terrorismo internacional como una construcción discursiva, el documento analiza lo que supone etiquetar un determinado tipo de violencia como "terrorismo", y la consecuente despolitización y securitización de esta violencia. Basándonos en estas reflexiones teóricas, se argumenta que el proceso de construcción discursiva de un determinado tipo de violencia política como terrorismo internacional estandarizado a nivel global depende de las relaciones de poder que constituyen la comunidad internacional, su identidad y su legitimidad; la razón de Estado, la razón de sistema y la razón de civilización. Al partir de este plantea - miento teórico, se propone que las formaciones histórico-discursivas globales sobre terrorismo internacional se han construido alrededor de un tipo de violencia política que representaba un desafío ideológico a estas relaciones de poder, su universalidad y su legitimidad. Finalmente, se presenta una genealogía de las formaciones discursivas estandarizadas que emergieron internacionalmente en la historia contemporánea y se deconstruyen estas formaciones a través del planteamiento teórico propuesto.

En este artículo se pretende reflexionar sobre qué tipo de violencia política llega a definirse como "terrorismo" y cuáles son las consecuencias de definirla de tal forma. Puesto que esta designación conlleva unos matices de barbarismo, irracionalidad, criminalidad y locura, el designar un acto o una organización de tal forma permite despolitizar estos tipos de violencia y eliminar el contenido político que las mueve. Este proceso se lleva a cabo con el terrorismo porque sus objetivos políticos representan una amenaza para la "forma" de una sociedad o del sistema internacional mismo y, más en general, para el orden hegemónico vigente. Las líneas teóricas trazadas en la primera parte del artículo se aplicarán al estudio del caso práctico del Estado Islámico. Si se consideran los objetivos políticos que esta organización quiere lograr —la creación de un estado/califato a través del terror, la reconfiguración de las relaciones de poder, primero en el área en el que se ha instalado y, sucesivamente, en el escenario internacional, y un diferente orden global— se entiende el por qué éste representa una amenaza a la sociedad internacional de estados que, para proteger su legitimidad y su status quo, necesitan describirlo como terrorista y, de tal manera, esconder y eliminar sus reivindicaciones políticas ; The goal of this article is to reflect on what kind of political violence is defined as "terrorism" and what are the consequences of being defined that way. El objetivo del siguiente artículo es analizar la construcción discursiva que los líderes políticos de Estados Unidos, Francia, y Reino Unido llevaron a cabo respecto al presidente sirio Bashar al-Asad en el contexto de los dos primeros años de la guerra civil siria. Nuestra argumentación sostiene que, a través de las palabras de estos hombres de estado, se convirtió a Asad en "enemigo absoluto", de acuerdo con el concepto adoptado por Carl Schmitt. A nuestro juicio, esta construcción se explica por el hecho de que ciertos países occidentales se mueven en un horizonte normativo occidental concreto y específico, conforme al cual se desarrolla la idea liberal de "rechazo del conflicto", siendo esta razón —junto con otras adicionales y complementarias— la que nos ayudarían a entender todo este proceso. Para ello, será fundamental analizar la fuerza que el discurso tiene a la hora de crear realidades y subrayar su utilidad a la hora de transformar al mandatario sirio en enemigo absoluto, tal y como veremos en nuestro estudio de caso ; The aim of the following article is to analyse the discursive construction of the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad made by the political leaders of the United States, France, and the United Kingdom, in the context of the two first years of the current Syrian civil war. El conflicto actual entre mundo occidental y el "terrorismo islamista" es algo que va mucho más allá del problema que supone la violencia —trágica y dolorosa— que ejercen y en la que se basan estos grupos. Efectivamente, la brecha que divide a estos grupos de nuestras sociedades es civilizatoria: se sustenta en diferentes y antagónicas propuestas sobre cómo debe organizarse la vida social. En este sentido, el choque es entre una modernidad occidental y un modelo de organización social —también moderno— que no separa lo político, lo religioso, o social, etc. Sin embargo, los conceptos políticos occidentales "secularizados" siguen siendo de corte teológico: de aquí un choque de "civilizaciones", entendidas como diferentes modelos de organización de lo social y de lo político ; The current conflict between the Western world and "Islamic terrorism" derives from something more than the mere problem of the —tragic and painful— violence these groups use.
