A survey of readership of articles in the S newspaper at Central Michigan U shows that S's were more likely to read about the candidate they favored in a campus election than about the opposition candidate. A random sample of 215 S's was drawn & readership interviews completed with 205. Of these 180 expressed a preference for one or the other of the 2 candidates for S body president. Though articles about the 2 candidates were the same size & presentation equivalent, 31% of the S's read more about the candidate of their choice & only 1% read more about the opposition candidate. Selectivity operated mainly in the decision to read or not to read rather than in the decision on how much to read. AA.
