Hospital site selection affects hospital's personnel, resources, environment, and even long term benefit and cost. Such a strategic decision must be made efficiently by considering many conflicting key criteria such as economic, environmental, and technical. In this study, TOPSIS (Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution), EDAS (Evaluation based on Distance from Average Solution), and CODAS (COmbinative Distance-based ASsessment) methods which are distance-based Multi-Criteria Decision-Making (MCDM) methods are applied to the hospital site selection problem. The weights of the hospital site selection criteria are derived from CRITIC (CRiteria Importance Through Intercriteria Correlation) method whereas the complete ranking of the hospital site alternatives is obtained by using TOPSIS, EDAS, and CODAS methods. According to the results of the CRITIC method the most important criterion is 'market conditions'. The other criteria follow this criterion are cost, transportation, geological factors, land strategy, financial support by the government, environmental consideration, and demographic consideration, respectively. The complete ranking of the hospital site alternatives is also same according to the three distance-based methods. So it can be concluded that these methods can be used instead of each other as an alternative method for the various problem structures and overcoming the disadvantages of these methods. © 2019, © 2019 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.

I discuss six tools available to monetary policy makers. Three of these have been used since the inception of central banking. Three are new and were introduced in the aftermath of the 2008 financial crisis. I argue that, when the UK Monetary Policy Committee raises the interest rate, it should maintain a large balance sheet that consists of both risky and safe assets. Further, the Bank should trade the risk composition of its balance sheet to promote the stability of asset prices.

The book evaluates the application of the first autonomous European civil procedures: the European Order for Payment and the European Small Claims Procedure. The study offers an in-depth comparative and empirical analysis of the way these instruments function in interaction with national procedures in England and Wales, France, Italy, and Romania. The analysis combines available statistics with European and national case law, together with practitioners' experience. This approach provides a comprehensive understanding of the difficulties encountered, and of the solutions chosen to overcome procedural intricacies and to secure parties' procedural rights. The findings create a solid basis for enhancing judicial cooperation and addressing the practical aspects related to the application of the procedures. In its conclusion, the book discusses the ongoing developments taking shape in this area, and reflects on the implications that the legal standards established by the European uniform procedures have for future developments. The book is of particular relevance for practitioners and courts applying the European Order for Payment and the European Small Claims Procedures; for European and national legislators, and policymakers working in this field; and for scholars interested in European civil procedure.

This paper describes research that integrates Keynesian and Walrasian economics in a new way. The author develops a model in which high unemployment can persist and any unemployment rate can occur as an equilibrium. Equilibrium is selected by the self-fulfilling beliefs of asset market participants. Using this new framework, the author argues that fiscal policy is not the best solution to the problem of restoring full employment. A policy of asset market management, similar to quantitative easing, is put forward as a more effective approach.

Der Autor untersucht die Entwicklung von Urbanisierung und Wohnsituation in Ghanas Hauptstadt Accra auf dem Hintergrund der Politik der Strukturanpassung der vergangenen Jahrzehnte. Auf der Basis von Zensusdaten aus dem Jahr 2000 stellt er für Accra eine Stadtentwicklung fest, die, aus der Verbindung lokaler und globaler Triebkräfte entstanden, als "quality residential sprawl with unicentric tendencies" (QRSUT) bezeichnet wird. Eine solche Entwicklung produziere für die Stadtplanung nicht nur in Accra, sondern auch in anderen afrikanischen Städten besondere Herausforderungen. (DÜI-Kör)
