"Internationally, the case of early modern Sweden is noteworthy because the state building process transformed a locally dispersed and sparsely populated area into a strongly centralized absolute monarchy and European empire at the beginning of the 17th century. This anthology provides fresh insights into the state-building process in Sweden. During this transitional period, many far-reaching administrative reforms were carried out, and the Swedish state developed into a prime example of the early modern 'powerstate'. The contributors approach Sweden's rise to greatness from the point of view of personal agency. In early modern studies, agency has long remained in the shadow of the study of structures and institutions. This novel approach enables us to expose the difficulties, setbacks and false steps that the administration had to deal with. State building was a more diversified and personalized process than has previously been assumed. Numerous individuals were also crucially important actors in the process, and that development itself was not straightforward progression at the macro-level but was intertwined with lower-level actors. Each chapter in this volume employs partially different methods depending on the source material and subject. This means that both qualitative and quantitative material is combined, different ways of making sense of it (i.e. research traditions) are brought together and a multi-method design is used in analyzing source material. One of the central methods is the systematic use of previous biographical research. We want to give the individuals and their actions under discussion a background that reflects the contemporary structures of individual life cycles. With the existing biographical research, it is possible to create a comprehensive set of data that provides the general outlines of individual lives or the career tracks of various estates or social groups, and even to construct collective biographies of certain groups."

In 1998, Abuelas de Plaza de Mayo created the Family Biographical Archive (Archivo Biográfico Familiar) aiming at reconstructing the life stories of those disappeared people whose children had been appropriated during the last military dictatorship in Argentina. Since then, the Archive has recorded and preserved the voices of those people who knew them, waiting for the moment the grandchild is found. It intends to be an instrument towards generational transmission, through which the grandchildren can learn the story of their parents, and so, their own. On the occasion of its 20th anniversary, this article intends to go through the history of the Archive, examining its research methodology, analyzing how its work has evolved throughout the years, the different projects it has developed and its future challenges. ; En el año 1998, Abuelas de Plaza de Mayo impulsó la creación del Archivo Biográfico Familiar con el objetivo de reconstruir las historias de vida de las personas desaparecidas cuyos hijos fueron apropiados durante la última dictadura. The article discusses the life and writings of Blanco White from its context of production and its various intentions. Given the abundant academic production around his figure, which is being developed by historians and literary critics since the second half of the last century, and had little influence at the local level, although several of his writings are aimed at Hispanic, this work builds a short intellectual biographical sketch with aim to provide elements for understanding the character as the main research on his political, literary and theological works. ; El artículo aborda la vida y los escritos de Blanco White a partir de su contexto de producción y sus diversas intencionalidades. Ante la profusa producción académica en torno a su figura, que se viene desarrollando por parte de historiadores y críticos literarios europeos desde la segunda mitad del pasado siglo, y su escasa repercusión en los ámbitos locales, a pesar de que varios de sus escritos están dirigidos a los hispanoamericanos, el trabajo construye un breve esbozo biográfico intelectual con la finalidad tanto de aportar elementos para el conocimiento del personaje como las principales investigaciones en torno a su producción política, literaria y teológica.

"Die Entstehung einer marktwirtschaftlich organisierten und in Ansätzen sich demokratisierenden Gesellschaft wird von den Subjekten des Alltags unterschiedlich erfahren und verarbeitet. Eine der zentralen sozialstrukturellen Veränderungen im neuen Russland ist sicher die Entstehung von gesellschaftlichen Sphären, die sich an die Verfasstheit der bürgerlichen Gesellschaften annähern: Es differenzieren sich in spezifischer Weise unabhängige gesellschaftliche Sphären der Politik, der Ökonomie, der Öffentlichkeit und des Privaten in dem Maße heraus, in dem die einigende Perspektive einer autoritär regierenden Partei ihre Definitionsmacht verloren hat. Den Verfasser interessiert hier insbesondere die Entstehung einer neuen privaten Sphäre, die sich von der vormaligen sowjetischen Privatheit (die es gegeben hat) deutlich unterscheidet. Die Trägerschichten dieser neuen Deutungen des Privaten sind die neu entstehenden Mittelschichten, die sich erfolgreich an die Anforderungen von Aktivität, Arbeits- und Leistungsorientierung und selbst organisierte Weiterbildung in der ökonomischen Sphäre angepasst haben. Die 'Privatisierung' des familialen Lebens und der Beziehungsgestaltung, die durch das Wegbrechen sowjetischer Organisationsformender Freizeitgestaltung, Kinderbetreuung, Betriebsanbindung und des Familienlebens sowie durch die Anforderungen neuer Sphären gekennzeichnet werden kann, ist in dieser sozialen Gruppe besonders deutlich. Die Analyse narrativer Interviews mit Ehepaaren zeigt, wie beiden patriarchalen Regime der alten Sowjetunion und des marktwirtschaftlich organisierten Westens sich kombinieren und in der Auseinandersetzung um Neudefinitionen von Hausarbeit, Familienarbeit, Männlichkeit und Weiblichkeit, Freizeitgestaltung und Konfliktbewältigung ein neuer kultureller Deutungshorizont erzeugt wird. Es lassen sich verschiedene generationen- und genderdifferente Typen der biographischen Verarbeitung rekonstruieren, in denen sich die Verfestigung neuer sozialer Ungleichheiten und Konflikte sowie neue Strukturen der Privatheit zeigen." Auf der Basis ausgewählter, insbesondere für biografische Zugänge fruchtbarer Zeitdimensionen werden in diesem Beitrag an einem Fallbeispiel aus der eigenen Forschung - methodisch anhand von Familieninterviews mit mehreren Generationen - zunächst zwei Fragen ausgelotet. Erstens wird exemplarisch gezeigt, wie sich durch die heuristische Berücksichtigung zeitlicher Dimensionen Aufschlüsse über zentrale Linien der Forschungsfrage - zur Statusreproduktion in Familien - erzielen lassen. Zweitens wird nachgezeichnet, wie familiale Zeitbezüge im Interview durch die Beteiligten überhaupt erst ausgehandelt bzw. hergestellt werden. Im darauffolgenden Schritt wird über das Beispiel hinaus diskutiert, welche spezifischen Möglichkeiten und Grenzen zeitsoziologischer Analyse Familieninterviews im Vergleich zu anderen Erhebungsverfahren qualitativer verbaler sowie nonverbaler Daten insbesondere, aber nicht ausschließlich im biografischen Kontext aufweisen.

In the 1980s, the Southern Frontier of Spain became one of the southern borders of the European Union after Spain entered into the European Economic Community (EEC). On the African continent, the Spanish cities of Ceuta and Melilla that border with Morocco are physically separated from Spain by the Mediterranean Sea. Those two cities became a privileged enclave for immigration control, but also for the detection of vulnerable conditions of the migrant population. This paper has a double objective: to describe the action research developed in the Center for the Temporary Residence of Immigrants in Ceuta and to analyze 49 biographical interviews with women residents of the Center within the framework of said action research. The results show the diversity of situations of vulnerability in which migrant women can find themselves in this border context. Hence, it is important to rethink the intervention to avoid secondary victimization within critical and humanistic models of intervention. This work, precisely, addresses the design of a tool for biographical narratives from the perspectives of integral health and care. ; U 1980-tima južna granica Španjolske postala je jedna od južnih granica Europske Unije nakon što je Španjolska ušla u Europsku ekonomsku zajednicu (EEZ). Na afričkom kontinentu španjolski gradovi Ceuta i Melilla koji graniče s Marokom fizički su odvojeni od Španjolske Sredozemnim morem. Ta su dva grada postala povlaštene enklave za imigracijsku kontrolu, ali i za otkrivanje ranjivih uvjeta migrantske populacije. Rad ima dvostruki cilj: opisati akcijsko istraživanje koje je razvio Centar za privremeni smještaj migranata u Ceuti i analizirati 49 biografskih intervjua sa ženama koje borave u Centru u okviru spomenutog akcijskog istraživanja. Rezultati pokazuju različitost situacija ranjivosti u kojima se migrantice mogu naći u kontekstu granice. Stoga je važno preispitati intervencije kako bi se izbjegla sekundarna viktimizacija u sklopu kritičkih i humanističkih modela intervencije. Rad se bavi kreiranjem instrumenta za biografske narative iz perspektive integralnog zdravlja i skrbi.

Intermarriage is the center of many imaginations, ascriplions and expectations. Binalional couples are viewed as a provocation for (national) societies, as well as a case study for assimilation processes or as proof of a 'real love'that can overcome all obstacles. This article deals with the question of whether qualitative research on intermarriage in Germany handles the ambivalences and if so, how. Analyzing the social construction of gender and cultural difference throughout the research, it can be shown that the research itself takes part in the 'lixation of foreignness'. The cultural differences within the relationship, for which the research is looking, arc already implied by the organization of the study. Based on this findings, a model of interpretation is introduced that highlights the developments and adaptations throughout the course oflife as a biographical learning process. This helps to reveal how the couple develops individual constructions of gender and cultural difference and how these constructions arc changed and modified during the adaptation of structural necessities like the integration into the labor market or the starting of a family and reactions to the social surrounding. Instead of taking constant presence and relevance of cullural difference for granlcd, it can he shown that the meaning can be brought to the foreground or can take a back seat, depending on the couple and the context. 'Cultural difference'can he undcrslood as an enabling slructurc through which individual gender relations can be developed and realized. Relations, which would not be possible in a mononational relationship.
