The aim of the article is to demonstrate that the propensity for the ethnic classification of places and people increased in Lombardy under the rule of the Sforza during the fifteenth century: national denominations, often used in a neutral way, but soon with an emphasis on the negative traits associated with barbarism, occur in state correspondence. This lexicon thus projects the political relationship over not only a customary tradition, but also a natural background, because by nature an individual belonged to what was called a nation and because it is from nature that the salient features of the nation derive. The hypothesis is that this change is connected to general cultural processes of the Renaissance, but – above all – to decisive political transformations that took place in the fifteenth century: a strengthening of the Italian diplomatic horizon, with the establishment of the Italic League, and the deterioration of the relationships between the state of Milan and its neigh- bors, Switzerland and Grisons. Of particular importance were the new strategies of legitimizing the central authority through the ideological transformation of the relationship of obedience, stabilizing the state's power over its subjects as being almost unnegotiable as nature in itself.

; The thesis analyses the evolution and impact of U.S.-Egypt relations under the Sadat and Mubarak's tenure in terms of geopolitical and strategic attitudes through a historical-diachronic perspective. Although it has been characterized for decades by a marked reciprocity in terms of local and (trans-)regional dynamics, for about twenty years this link has been experiencing a particular moment of reconsideration due to the presence of several factors that have limited its overall significance. The bilateral relationship needs new foundations and objectives. In fact, the thesis argues that the Camp David agreements, the beating heart of the common strategies of the United States and Egypt, as well as the political core of several dynamics (mostly in security dimension) between the Americans, Egyptians and Israelis, it is the key element to understand the interconnection between Egyptian domestic state and its regional state autonomy. In this respect, the thesis highlights these factors characterizing the Egyptian foreign policy in connection, even and not only, with United States and Israel, as enabling factors both in the national political developments and the evolution in the Arab stage, within a wider geo-political and strategic regional and international panorama. In conclusion, this work aim to bring out the tactical nature of the bilateral relationship between Egypt and the United States, which was heavily influenced by the pursuit of a different perception of national interest. Therefore, the biggest challenge between Washington and Cairo consists in managing a much less special and complex relationship than in the recent past, which essentially sees the overcoming of Camp David, while maintaining the stability of the region as a cornerstone on both sides.

A realist-informed assessment of several factual claims made by the globalists suggest that the repercussions of globalization in international relations have been grossly exaggerated. The state's economic sovereignty may well be challenged; yet, states are far from impotent in dealing with markets & still perform a number of functions that can hardly be ignored. Multinational corporations & other transnational actors may well play a key role in international affairs; yet, they must come to terms with states in many important ways. Globalization may well put a premium on devising common strategies for common problems; yet, no issue seems so global as to prevent states from looking at it from a national perspective. Above all, globalization may well pull & haul all states; yet, some states -- the more powerful in general, the US in particular -- are less constrained than others. As a result, those who present globalization as the beginning of a new era for international relations are neither theoretically original nor empirically convincing. 95 References.
