THE COMMUNIST PARTY OF CHILE, 1969-1973: THE LIMITS OF PLURALISM
In: World affairs: a journal of ideas and debate, Band 136, Heft 2, S. 132-151
ISSN: 0043-8200
THE CHILEAN COMMUNIST PARTY (PCCH) WAS THE ARCHITECT OF ALLENDE'S COALITION. THE POLITICAL PLURALISM IT EXPOUNDED AND PRACTICED, HOWEVER, DIFFERED RADICALLY FROM THAT TO WHICH CITIZENS OF LIBERAL DEMOCRACIES ARE ACCUSTOMED. COMMUNIST POLICIES, TOO MODERATE FOR THE IMPULSIVE LEFT, PROVED INEFFECTIVE IN ATTRACTING THE LARGER MIDDLE-CLASS PARTIES; THEIR SUCCESS LAY IN CREATING DIVISIONS.
