The Clearwater Sun newspaper was published between 1914 and 1990. Few original issues prior to the 1970s exist, and issues from the earliest years (pre-1926) do not exist in microfilm. The St. Petersburg Evening Independent served as the Sunshine City's afternoon newspaper between 1906 and 1986. Similar to the Sun, early issues rarely exist. This collection represents a small sample of original issues of the Clearwater Sun and the Evening Independent from the end of the Second World War and the beginning of the Korean War. The Poynter Library received these papers as a donation from the Tampa Bay History Center on 24 January 2008.
