Alternative means of dispute resolution are sought a long time as an access to justice more humane. Without the imposition of an intervening power, the parties have gain more autonomy in their decisions. The extension project of the Federal University of Paraíba "Citizenship in Extension: Access to Justice and Conflict Mediation", linked to the Reference Center for Human Rights (CRDH) aims to address the theme "Access to Justice", using one of the extrajudicial dispute resolution methods, namely: Mediation. The Mandacaru and Jardim Veneza's Reference Center for Citizenship in João Pessoa/PB, were the spaces chosen in the first year of the project, where residents discussed their problems in these localities, in order to build possible plans of action. The following year, the Guardian Council has become the chosen space, working directly with the Mediation. Building a sense of unity among residents of a community is one of the goals of this project with respect to collective issues. And mediation, with respect to individual issues. With the prospect of working together, this project follows its activity, achieving its main goals: empowering individuals and fostering active citizenship.

The UN has a large experience in conflict management, including preventive diplomacy, peacemaking, peacekeeping & peacebuilding. It faces serious difficulties in several cases of prevention & peacemaking, namely when it has to lead military operations where the use of force goes beyond self-defense. It has, however, immense comparative advantages in peacebuilding & the UN should concentrate its resources where its conflict resolution capacities are most efficient. Figures, References. Africa has accounted for a disproportionate part of the peacekeeping efforts of the United Nations for at least the past fifteen years (Portuguese-speaking Africa being prominent in this). It seems clear that this situation results from difficulties in the implementation of the post-independence state -- whether as a result of externally generated pressures or of internal issues of political culture or both. This extensive intervention in African conflict has been motivated not only by humanitarian imperatives but also by the 'necessity' of maintaining the fabric of the 'Westphalian' system of states (a concern given greater urgency by the 'war on terror'). While there has been considerable discussion of 'African solutions for African problems' as an alternative, it is likely that UN peacekeeping will retain a prominent place in African conflict management for the foreseeable future. Entre as décadas de 80 e 90, a Cadeia Pública de Porto Alegre, principal prisão do estado do Rio Grande do Sul, foi palco de intensas turbulências: fugas, homicídios, motins e rebeliões. Em 1995, após uma rebelião, a gestão do presídio foi assumida pela polícia militar, que permanece até hoje. A partir dos anos 2000, as instabilidades começaram a arrefecer, tornando-se, atualmente, eventos pontuais e isolados, apesar da superlotação. Com base em entrevistas feitas com presos, policiais em ofício no presídio e atores do sistema de justiça ocupados com a execução penal, propõe-se analisar a passagem entre esses dois momentos, enfatizando-se a relação entre os coletivos de presos e a administração prisional. Given the important role that school management currently plays, this paper aims to discuss democracy from democratic management perspective in educational institutions. Thus, it focuses on ideas of equal opportunity, liberties, human and social rights, which are safeguarded by modern democracy, where conflicts in the perpetuation of inequalities and social violence in education occur, prompting the analysis of democracy in the capitalist context. This is an exploratory-bibliographical, qualitative research that is based on documental analysis of publications that are related to literature pertinent to educational policies, democracy, and democratic management. The study found that the democratic management has oscillated between equal management of the School Council and a management that is discretional, bureaucratic, and that is more tolerant to the perverse logics of control and hierarchy than to the school self-organization which should identify with a participatory democracy. ; Debido a la importancia que asume hoy la gestión escolar, la investigación discute la democracia desde la perspectiva de la gestión democratica en las intituiciones educativas. Con este fin, el articulo refleja las ideas de igualdad de oportunidades, libertades, derechos humanos y sociales defendidos por la democracia moderna, que ha sido escenario de contradicciones en la perpetuación de la desigualdade y la violência social en la educación, lo que implica analizar la democracia en el contexto capitalista. Es una investigación cualitativa exploratoria-bibliografica, que utiliza el análises documental de publicaciones relacionadas con la literatura inherente a las políticas educativas, la democracia, la gestión democrática. Although almost two decades passed on the end of the Cold War & the preponderance of so called civil wars in lieu of wars between states, the problem one ethnicity & ethnic violence continues to receive a special attention on the part of a great number of researchers from most diverse domains of the social sciences. The present article tries to make a critical review of the academic debates on the subject. For brevity's sake, we refer only to the most visible & widespread perspectives, here presented through three great schools of thought -- Primordialism, Instrumentalism & Constructivism. The main goal of this paper is to problematize the Plano de Desenvolvimento da Escola Interativo (PDDE Interativo) and the objectification of school management regulation mechanisms. The reflection has as reference the movement of administrative modernization and the regulation called 'post-bureaucratic', in which changes in the role of the State are identified, with a focus on managerial management. The analysis is done considering the World Bank's prescription for the reform of the education systems of its partner countries, especially those in its '2020 strategy for education'. We highlight a movement of constriction to a given model of educational reform, based on strategic monitoring, carried out through the creation of online databases. Regulation is discussed from the perspective of the economic imperative, control over the work of the school management, the systematic and strategic collection of school data, as well as the result-oriented financing mechanism. Conceptually, human resource management (HRM), as it is known today, originated in attempts by scholars from American universities to understand the so-called "labor problem"in the last quarter of the nineteenth century. At that time, this issue arose because of the emergence of wage earning following industrialization. Since then, labor conflict has moved into the institutional arena, where union actions and specific legislation to address this issue have created external milestones for organizations when hiring employees. ; A origem do que se pode chamar hoje de gestão de recursos humanos (GRH) pode ser encontrada conceitualmente na tentativa de estudiosos de universidades norte-americanas entenderem a chamada "questão do trabalho" no último quarto do século XIX. Naquele período, essa questão fora imposta pelo assalariamento provocado pela industrialização. De lá para cá, o conflito trabalhista foi conduzido para a arena institucional em que a ação sindical e a existência de uma legislação específica para isso criaram marcos externos às organizações na contratação de seus funcionários.
