Quality of life of family caregivers of people with Down Syndrome

Objective: to analyze the perception of parents/caregivers of people with Down syndrome on quality of life. Methods: It is a qualitative study, which used for data collection semi-structured interviews with 10 caregiver parents of people with Down syndrome. To analyze the data, we used the content analysis technique. Results: It was observed that caregivers are mothers over the age of 30, who declared themselves as racially mixed (Pardo in Portuguese), live with a partner, practice some type of physical activity and attend any educational institution. Moreover, they had as main occupation the caregiver role. Caregivers reported that access to leisure; health; family relationships; general welfare; Material and rights were the factors that influence the quality of life. Conclusion: it was concluded that caregiver parents of people with Down syndrome had different views on the quality of life.
Refeeding syndrome: nursing implications

Objective: To identify the etiological and physiological aspects on RS and describe the main nursing approaches aimed at preventing and reducing injuries from RS. Method: Exploratory bibliographic research, of literature and from an online database: Biblioteca Virtual de Saúde (BVS). Results: RS is characterized by manifestations that are directly related to an electrolyte disorder. Its tems from the reintroduction of nutritional support in malnourished patients, which can cause lethal damages. Conclusion: The studied scientific production reveals sparse theoretical production on nursing care towards RS, and that is related to the process of nutritional repletion associated with enteral and parenteral nutrition therapy in which the nurse must be aware to know provide adequate care.
Burnout syndrome in nursing technicians of basic health units

Objective: identifying the syndrome in nursing technicians of Basic Health Units across the Maslach Burnout Inventory. Method: the study is of exploratory origin and quantitative approach. The data analysis was performed by descriptive statistics. Results: most health professionals operates for over 10 years and consider their work stressful (nine - 82%); complains of muscle pain and headaches (eight - 73%), stomachaches (4-36%), irritability, difficulty concentrating and fatigue easily (three - 27%). The risk for burnout syndrome was identified in two (18%). Conclusion: there is the need for development of public health policies, especially in the area of geared to the real needs of mental health workers, producing positive feelings about their activities, reducing the generating pressures of chronic stress and emotional upsets coming from him, attitudes which disadvantage the development of burnout.
Team meeting: proposal for the work process organization

Objective: The study aims to understand the perceptions of workers of a Psychosocial Care Center (CAPS) on
staff meetings. Methods: Study of qualitative approach, using the methodological theoretical evaluation of the
fourth generation. The data were collected in a Santa Catarina's CAPS in 2006, 2011 and 2014 through semistructured
interviews, field observations and data recycling groups. Results: The daily frequency of spaces of
team meetings enables a process of interaction in which knowledge and information is shared, and the group
democratically decides the necessary referrals and plan together the next actions taking co-responsibilities over
safety in the work process. Conclusion: Team meetings are considered a strategic space for workers to organize
the work process.
Burnout syndrome in nursing professionals from an intensive care unit

Objective: To assess Burnout Syndrome's level in nursing professionals from an Intensive Care Unit. Methodology: A quantitative cross-sectional study, conducted with 47 nursing professionals working in the intensive care unit of a public hospital of high complexity, from April to October 2012. We used a selfadministered structured questionnaire plus the Maslach Burnout Inventory, was analyzed by logistic regression using the Wald test. Result: 74,5% of the respondents had a high level for exhaustion, 93,7% for low job satisfaction and high level to 93,7% depersonalisation. Conclusions: The intensive environment is conducive to the Syndrome's development.
A group dynamic as a strategy for teaching-learning in a nursing management course

Objective: To describe and evaluate the participation of academics and identify their perception about the importance of group dynamics for learning Nursing Management. Method: A qualitative and exploratory approach. The data were collected in the School of Nursing of the Federal Fluminense University, through a questionnaire. The subjects are 31 academicians of the 6th period, in the discipline of Management in Health Care I, in the second half of 2011, after approval by the Ethics Committee of the Faculty of Medicine of the same university, under N. 162/11. Results: Three thematic categories: Group dynamics as a strategy for teamwork, as an interaction strategy and as a teaching-learning strategy. Conclusion: The dynamics contributed to the team work as well as to the interaction with the teachers, for the understanding the discipline taught, reflecting the importance of this strategy in nursing education.
