The true concept of democracy includes the participation of individuals in the governing process. But due to gargantuan population the active participation of citizen in governing process is not possible. But egovernance makes it possible through online feedback system from the public.
Includes abstracts. ; Includes bibliographical references. ; The phenomenon of celebrities becoming involved in humanitarian activism is by no means new, and yet recently the amount of international attention that it attracts has increased dramatically. It appears that certain advances in media technology, coupled with shifts in international political power relations, have allowed for celebrity humanitarian activism to develop into a prominent international phenomenon. Academic studies on the topic are still relatively scarce. It is therefore the intention of this dissertation to help fill this gap by providing a descriptive analysis of the emergence and development of celebrity humanitarian activism.
CSR is the managerial compulsion to defend and enhance both the welfare of society as a whole and the interests of the company. So, this study is an examination of the competitive advantages of CSR practice. This study is based on two theories; stakeholder's theory, which states that companies have essential groups that need to care of and the iron law of CSR, which states that companies that become failure to utilize their power responsibly will lose it in the long run. Reviewing prior studies it was found that a number of benefits proliferate to companies that practise CSR; numerous advantages were recognized. Among these others consist of: improved brand and reputation, decline in operation costs, attracting new customers, balances power with responsibility, discourages government regulation, improves a company's image, promote profits, superior relations with the investment groups and easier access to capital, improved employee relations, efficiency and innovation and stronger relations with society through stakeholder involvement. This paper concludes that there is a greater chance to be benefitted initiating CSR actions. Thus, it suggests that companies should try to provide due attention to CSR and this practice needs to consider as a continuous process.
A descriptive study of the Escuela Cenpritec school was carried out between September 15, 1969 and November 15, 1969 in La Paz, Bolivia. All pertinent literature was reviewed and interviews were conducted with school and government personnel. A fine physical plant has been constructed that is well lighted and equipped. It is adequately protected by a perimeter wall and by the services of a night watchman. Classes were being conducted in the four areas of electricity, plumbing, masonry and carpentry. Few of the objectives set forth in the organizational documents were met. Classes in the construction trades were offered but subsequent employment of the graduate in his specialty was very low. Coordination of on-the-job training, or, for that matter, any other kind of construction training in the city by Cenpritec did not exist. Only one class in training for the rural worker was held and efforts to encourage his return to the rural areas were unsuccessful because job opportunities were better in the city. Training for the student was at the very basic level and no classes for specialists were ever held. Basic literacy courses did not materialize even though widespread illiteracy among the study body hindered efforts to teach the building trades. No classes in management and supervision training were held. Difficulties which surround the school were myriad. The initial feasibility study apparently was not accurate and was based upon subjective evaluation rather than statistical data. Many promises of support, financial aid and help were never fulfilled. The Board of Directors often failed to discharge its duty in the direction and administration of Cenpritec. The Peace Corps advisors failed to ensure total operation of the school in accordance with its legal documents. A breakdown in communications between USAID/Bolivia and the Peace Corps/Bolivia led to confusion regarding responsibility for the school, conditions necessary for continued financial aid, and extent of authority of the volunteer instructors. Inability or unwillingness of the Government of Bolivia to accept readily its financial responsibility for the school suggests that future funding may reach crisis proportions. A policy for the continued evaluation and observation of Cenpritec does not exist and the rapid exchange of American personnel in Bolivia has led to the responsibility for its operation being placed primarily in the hands of the Peace Corps volunteer instructors. Future successful operation of Cenpritec will depend upon a careful reassessment of its role with respect to the construction industry, a reactivation of the Board of Directors, a pledge of support from the Bolivian Government and a commitment by American officials for continued, long term supervision.
Life satisfaction plays an important role in the quality of life and performance of a human in any profession, including teachers. The teacher is a professional educator with the main task of educating, teaching, guiding, directing, training, and evaluating students in elementary and middle schools. Life satisfaction refers to an individual's overall judgment or global evaluation about his or her life condition. This study is a quantitative descriptive survey study that aims to analyze and describe the relationship between demographic factors with school teachers' life satisfaction at Palopo and Toraja Region in South Sulawesi. This research using SWLS (Satisfaction with Life Scale) with 111 respondents who came from several schools in Palopo and Toraja region. Result of this research found that most of the teachers (67,6%) were satisfied with their lives, and the rest (32,4 %) are not satisfied with their lives. Based on the cross-tabulation analysis and non-parametric correlation, its proven that several demographic factors, namely gender, employment status, ethnic groups, length of services, income perception, and salary comparison perception have a significant correlation with teachers' life satisfaction. In particular, with ordinal regression analysis, we found that educational status, income perception, and salary comparison perception has influence teachers' life satisfaction. Government and Private Educational Foundation should do effort to increase teacher's income and have a career development plan for teachers to maintain their subjective wellbeing level. Background: As the Neonatal sepsis occupies the major cause of Neonatal mortality in developing countries like India, the present study was planned to understand the scenario of the neonatal septicemia cases so as to allow the better planning and management of these cases to control and reduce the total neonatal mortality. Research Question: What are the socio demographic profiles and various reasons associated for the cause of higher incidence of Neonatal sepsis in our setup? The setting of the study was at NICU, department of Pediatrics, Government medical College, Ongole, Andhra Pradesh. A one year observational study was conducted during the period from January 2019 to January 2020 on 100 Neonatal Septicemia Patients admitted in NICU by studying their Socio demographic profiles, Parity of mothers, Preterm delivery, Birth weight and Clinical factors etc. Results: Both male and female babies suffering from Neonatal Septicemia during the above specified period were taken into study and majority of the study group (64%) were males. And among the total study group maximum 82% of cases were babies delivered to mothers came from rural area and also interestingly maximum number of cases were LBW(low birth weight) babies and preterm babies. In this study the cases were distributed inversely proportional to the parity of mother. Low birth weight (82%), poor socio-economic status (78%), male predominance (66%), Birth anoxia and Resuscitation (30%) and preterm delivery (28%) were noted as predominant predisposing factors. And finally, it was observed that deaths were more among LBL babies (23%) and Preterm babies (9%) in this study with the overall mortality (27%).
Pharmacists play a beneficial role in supplying medicines to patients. Pharmacist prescribing practices were introduced into law in Poland in 2002, permitting pharmacists to prescribe medications in emergency situations and in 2020 the new law allowed to prescribe in all situation where it is needed because of the health risks reasons. Our aim was to analyze pharmacist prescribing practices in Poland and confirm the useful of pharmacists' activity in this area. Additionally, pharmacists were also authorized to issue reimbursed prescriptions for themselves or their family members. Since January 2020, only e-prescriptions are allowed in Poland. A retrospective analysis of the inspection written reports from 842 community pharmacies in the representative region of Poland with a population of two million, carried out in the time period from 2002 to 2016 was performed (2189 prescriptions) to assess the emergency pharmacist prescribing practices in Poland. The second part of the research was based on digital data on pharmacists prescriptions (18,529) provided by the e-Health Centre (a governmental organization under the Ministry of Health responsible for the development of health care information systems in Poland), enabling to conduct the analysis of pharmacist's prescribing from 1 of April 2020 to 31 of October 2020. The analysis gave the insight of the evolution of the pharmacy prescribing patterns. In general, pharmaceutical prescriptions were issued in cities with more than 100,000 inhabitants, in town- or city center pharmacies, and in pharmacies in residential areas. The most common reason for a pharmaceutical prescription was that the patient was running out of a medicine and was unable to contact their physician. Cardiovascular, respiratory, dermatological, and digestive medications were most frequently prescribed. An analysis of pharmacists' prescribing data from 1 April 2020 to 31 October 2020 confirmed the rapid increase of pharmaceutical prescriptions following implementation of the new legislative act during the COVID-19 epidemic.
Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) tremendously impacts the physical and mental health of humans worldwide. Consequently, studies on COVID-19 remain extensive. However, most of them were mainly focused on the pathological mechanisms and treatment methods from medical perspectives. Various reports have indicated that COVID-19 is closely related to stigma and discrimination, but little statistical information has been integrated quantitatively to describe the situation in China. Thus, this study investigated the COVID-19-related stigma of individuals. We collected the online survey data from 1,920 Chinese participants from October to December 2020. Findings showed that 306 (15.94%), 285 (14.84%), 265 (13.80%), and 100 (5.21%) participants endorsed stigma toward individuals in high-risk areas, recovered patients with COVID-19, families of recovered patients with COVID-19, and frontline healthcare providers, respectively. To understand the possible factors that could impact the COVID-19-related stigma, knowledge about COVID-19 was investigated. Generally, knowledge about COVID-19 was negatively associated with COVID-19-related stigma in general, while no significant relationship existed between the knowledge about COVID-19 and the COVID-19-related stigma in the groups who had held COVID-19-related stigma. Ultimately, individuals showed COVID-19-related stigma toward recovered patients and their families, individuals in high-risk areas, and frontline healthcare providers to some extent. The results of this study can provide reference to nations, governments, and organizations in addressing the stigma issues raised by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Research has become a core areas in higher education. There are number of government grants to promote research in various fields. In recent years, many universities and funding authorities have adopted research integrity policies LaFollette, 1992 Duquet, 1993 .Research productivity should be the main highlight for any faculty who want to be a part of competitive advantage. A model is created wherein it is stated that research push and right mind set can lead one to attain competitive advantage in an environment which it is very competitive. The survey was based on primary data. Only women faculties were targeted for this survey. Out of total 167 sample, 83 respondents were married and 82 respondents were spinsters. Divorcee were nil hence they were excluded from the study. Different colleges were surveyed according to the prescribed time given by them. Hence a field research was done through personal and group interview. As the study was a diagnostic surveys so fact findings enquiries were executed through cross tabulation, skewness and kurtosis and normal Q Q plots. Some significant facts have been observed from this study. This research paper is also based on secondary data for finalization of views and opinions which has been sourced from published literature. Purpose: To investigate concussion education implementation methods in NCAA member institutions. Methods: Of the 1,078 athletic trainers across all NCAA Divisions that were contacted, 355 were included in this study. Participants were asked to complete the Current Concussion Education Practices Questionnaire (CCEPQ). The CCEPQ consisted of four sections: demographics, concussion education questionnaire, perceived effectiveness of concussion education, and limitations/barrier to providing concussion education. Outcome frequencies were used to report survey results. Respondent division-level categorical differences across survey items were assessed with a 2X3 chi-square test of independence. Results: Providing concussion education occurs in 98.9% of NCAA member institutions. Educating student athletes on concussion annually occurs in 85.1% of NCAA member institutions. Among those institutions who provide concussion education, 5.1% report only providing concussion education to contact/collision sports. Utilization of the NCAA concussion facts sheet, and NCAA concussion education video occurs in 50.1% of NCAA member institutions. Only 70.7% of NCAA member institutions report providing information on the long-term consequences. Educating one team (65.4%) or multiple teams (46.8%) at a time regarding concussion had the greatest outcome frequencies when asked about the environment concussion education is provided. Conclusions: The majority of NCAA member institutions are providing concussion education to student-athletes. However, adherence to the NCAA Concussion Education Policy and Legislation appears to still be a concerning issue. Substantial heterogeneity with content and delivery method of concussion education among member institutions was not unexpected, due to the limited requirements and guidelines set by the NCAA Concussion Education Policy. NCAA member institutions whom provide concussion education appear to use material created by the NCAA. Future research should evaluate the current concussion education practices reviled in the present study for effectiveness. After evaluation of current concussion education practices, the creation of improved concussion education policies can commence.
It is the agricultural sector that feeds country's trade. Agricultural products like tea, sugar, rice, tobacco, spices etc. constitute the main items of exports of India. If the development process of agriculture is smooth, export increases and imports are reduced considerably. The study clearly shows that export of fresh vegetables and fresh fruits are seeing an upfront growth. Still the exports can be increased if the governments supports by providing more incentives to the exporters. The study has thrown a light on agriculture industry and has induced the researcher to take up business associated with agri exports. We could also note that Government is supporting the agri industry and the role of APEDA in promoting exports is very vast.
The study aimed to investigate the situation of nurse prescribing, introduced in Poland in 2016, by analyzing the opinions of nurses, expected to be influential on nurses&rsquo ; actual practices, in response to legislative change to enable nurses to prescribe and comparing this with actual nurse prescribing behaviours during the early years of the legislation. The paper fills a knowledge gap and provides baseline data analysis for subsequent research. Nurses&rsquo ; opinions were collected during the period they were preparing themselves for prescribing. That data was compared with data on the character and extent of nurses&rsquo ; actual prescribing practices over the first two years of implementation. The study showed the number of nurse prescriptions increased. Comparing the first and second years of nurse prescribing, the number of nurse independent prescriptions more than doubled. Over the same period, the number of nurse supplementary prescriptions increased almost six-fold. The implementation of nurse prescribing has increased the scope of nursing care, especially in the treatment of the infections, pain and chronic conditions in the elderly.
The global pandemic of Coronavirus (COVID-19), also termed as health emergency affecting nearly 210 countries and territories has led to negative emotions of fear and agony in the general population. The healthcare regulators and the governments have imposed emergencies and lockdowns in their countries which has led to an adverse effect on the mental health of general public ultimately leading to a rise in anxiety, depression, and associated mental illness. The fear and rising COVID-19 crisis is putting extreme limitations on our finite resources. This report aims to improve status of mental health altered as a result of pandemic, emphasizing to help the general public, mitigate the negative emotions to improve the general wellbeing in this detached period of isolation. With no standard treatment or vaccine yet, the goal is primarily symptomatic relief for those affected and preventive for those at risk. Most countries have curtailed the spread of COVID-19 through measures such as lockdowns, social distancing and voluntary self-isolation. Although necessary, such measures and the disease itself may have an adverse impact on mental health. In view of research from previous pandemic crisis, it is known that such situations are likely to increase stress levels and have negative psychiatric effects. The impact is likely to be felt by the general public, sufferers of COVID-19, their families and friends, persons with pre-existing mental health conditions and healthcare workers. COVID pandemic related psychological distress in the general public, including symptoms of anxiety and depression, is associated with alterations in immune function, including an elevated risk of viral respiratory tract infection.
