La materialidad de la alimentación actual en la globalización se construye en el imaginario colectivo dominante a partir de tres sesgos fundamentales de la mirada occidental: el antropocentrismo, el etnocentrismo y androcentrismo propios de la patriarcalidad/ colonialidad del poder/saber/ser. Este trabajo pretende establecer un diálogo crítico entre la agroecología, los feminismos y la teoría decolonial aplicado al análisis del imaginario alimentario hegemónico con el objetivo de pensar, desde una perspectiva crítica-fronteriza, premisas culturales alternativas que contribuyan a la construcción de propuestas alimentarias sostenibles y justas que superen los tres sesgos fundamentales de la mirada occidental (pre)dominante. ; Eating is a daily activity that is both essential to life and loaded with meanings that reflect and reproduce the socioeconomic and political relations within a society. The materiality of food in the globalised world is built, in the dominant collective imagery, on three fundamental biases of the Western view: the anthropocentrism, ethnocentrism and androcentrism constitutive of the patriarchality/coloniality of power/knowledge/being. AbstractThis work describes the process of building two indicators in order to measure the efficiency of the Food Acquisition Program – Milk modality (PAA‐Milk) in the States which implement it. The Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) methodology was used to develop the first indicator, while the Principal Component Analysis was used as a tool for cutting and simplifying the structure of the first indicator to obtain the second indicator. The results demonstrate the great potential of the AHP tool together with the statistical tools to develop indicators to diagnose and monitor public policies in Brazil. The states of Alagoas, Paraíba, and Ceará presented the best efficiency in the performance of the Program, while Bahia and Pernambuco presented the worst results.

We identify three epistemological postures that reflect the contrasting positions of the authors vis-à-vis knowledge, actors, and action: functionalist coexistence, coexistence based on power relations, and coexistence in a transition perspective. These studies encourage the development of new research perspectives, in particular in order to make progress in the theorization of the coexistence and confrontation of agricultural and food models.

ResumenEl objetivo de este artículo es contribuir al debate en curso sobre la teoría de la "modernidad alimentaria", afirmando que existen otras maneras de construir el "nuevo orden alimentario", el de los "otros" grupos culturales. Centrando la atención en la función de nutridoras de las mujeres transmigrantes marroquíes, al mismo tiempo que categorizando la cocina como espacio para la transformación social, pretendo evidenciar el papel tan central de estas mujeres en la articulación de dos formas de saber-hacer alimentario aparentemente difíciles de encajar: las formas aprendidas en su primera socialización en Marruecos (y que les son requeridas por sus maridos), y aquellas en la línea de la "modernidad alimentaria" propuestas por los más jóvenes de los grupos familiares. De esa articulación entre deseo de continuidad y apertura surgen cambios alimentarios cuyo significado se interpreta como agencia social entendida en su contexto (Mahmood, 2008). De aquí nace el segundo de los objetivos de este trabajo, evidenciar "otras" formas de agencia social.Abordamos la investigación desde las epistemologías del Sur y los feminismos negros con una doble intención: contribuir a superar la mirada androcéntrica e imperialista existente en las sociedades occidentales con las que siempre se ha medido el saber y las experiencias de las mujeres, colocándolas en una posición de subalternidad con respecto a los hombres, y recontextualizar el concepto de agencia social.La metodología utilizada para llevar a cabo este estudio se ha basado en el trabajo de campo y en diferentes técnicas de investigación como observación participante y entrevistas semiestructuradas y abiertas.Palabras Clave: modernidad alimentaria, migraciones, Marruecos, feminismos negros, epistemologías del sur. AbstractThe objective of this article is to contribute to the ongoing debate on the theory of "alimentary modernity", affirming that exist other ways of constructing the "new alimentary order", that of the "others" cultural groups. Focusing on the Moroccan women's transmigrants role of nurturing, while categorizing the kitchen as a space for social transformation, I intend to highlight the central role of women in the articulation of two forms of food knowledge, seemingly difficult to fit: the forms learned in their first socialization in Morocco (and that they are required by their husbands), and those in the line of food modernity demanded by the youngest members of the family. From this articulation between a desire for continuity and for openness, food changes arise, whose meaning is interpreted as a social agency understood in its context (Saba Mahmood, 2008).From here born the second of the objectives of this work, to make evident "other" forms of social agency. Approach the investigation from southern epistemologies, and black feminisms had a double intention: to contribute to overcoming the androcentric and imperialist gaze existing in western societies with which the knowledge and experiences of the "other" wormen have always been measured, placing her on a clear subalternity position with respect to men and recontextualizing the concept of social agency.The methodology used to carry out this study has been based on fieldwork and on different research techniques such as participant observation, semi-structured and open interviews and life stories.Key Words: food modernity, migrations, Morocco, black feminisms, southern epistemologies.

This study reports the results of aflatoxins B/G monitoring in food of vegetal origin, imported in Southern Italy from extra-European Union countries. From 2017 to 2020, we analyzed 1675 samples using an accredited HPLC method with fluorescence detection. We found out 295 samples (17.6%) were contaminated by aflatoxin B1, 204 by aflatoxins B/G (12.2%), while 75 (4.5%) resulted non-compliant to maximum limits set by the European Union law. Most of the batches tested were unprocessed food; the distribution of contamination levels, incidence of non-compliant samples, inference for different kinds of food are reported. The study focuses on the food more susceptible to contamination by aflatoxins; nuts are the food more controlled, showing the higher number of non-compliant samples. Our study confirms that pistachio nuts, hazelnuts and almonds are the major sources of exposure for consumers. Still, other products, such as chili pepper and Brazil nuts, need to get more information about their contamination levels. The study's findings are discussed in the perspective of the last opinion by EFSA about chronic exposure to aflatoxins. A case study to evaluate not compliance of a composed food to the European Union law is reported.

Developing countries have undergone rapid transitions driven by globalization and development, which have accelerated increases in prevalence of overweight and obesity among children. Schools have been identified as effective settings for early intervention and favorable arenas in which to target children's dietary behaviors. In Guatemala, public schools commonly have food kiosks (casetas) which provide food and drink for sale to children. From July through October 2013, observation during recess, in-depth interviews with school principals (n=4) and caseta vendors (n=4), and focus groups with children (n=48) were conducted. This paper explores products currently available to children at casetas. We found that current factors that impact what casetas offer and subsequent nutrition habits of children at school include: regulations and enforcement; vendor investment and earnings; vendor challenges related to resources (i.e. refrigeration); the current economy and product demand; product pricing; and children's product preferences. These factors influence the products that are available and children's tendency to purchase them. Potential strategies that emerged include healthy food preparation to improve product health and quality, price manipulation and promotions, raffles and games to encourage healthy product consumption, as well as government and corporate involvement to push policy toward development of healthier products.

Millions of agricultural producers from around the globe now cultivate genetically modified (GM) crops. In both the United States and the European Union, these crops and their food and feed products must be approved after evaluations designed to protect health, the environment, and agriculture. In the United States, federal agencies implement the authorisation process; in the European Community, both Community institutions and Member State authorities play roles. This article describes the comprehensive regulatory provisions that govern GM crops and their products under US and EC law. The article then compares requirements in the two legal systems, with a focus on the process of authorisation, requirements for labelling, and the exercise of precaution in the regulatory process.
