This study aims to test the relationship between globalization and economic growth in Turkey for the period 1980-2018 using the Toda-Yamamoto causality approach. Toda-Yamamoto causality test results indicated a unidirectional causality running from trade globalization to economic growth, unidirectional from economic growth to financial globalization, bidirectional between information globalization and economic growth, unidirectional from political globalization to economic growth, and unidirectional from economic growth to general globalization. No causality relationship was found between economic globalization and economic growth, social globalization and economic growth, interpersonal globalization and economic growth and cultural globalization and economic growth. [ES] Las cooperativas agrarias, al igual que el resto de empresas, operan en unos mercados cada vez más exigentes, por lo que se hace necesario conocer y fomentar los factores de competitividad que las caracterizan. La formación de los trabajadores se configura como uno de estos factores de competitividad que resulta clave, pues es el que permitirá establecer mayores diferencias en el mejor desarrollo de la actividad de estas empresas. Así pues, el presente artículo pretende analizar las necesidades de formación de las cooperativas agrarias de comercialización españolas, al suponer uno de los principales motores de desarrollo de las comunidades rurales en las que se ubican. No obstante, los resultados serán en muchos casos extrapolables a otras realidades, dado que el diagnóstico del cooperativismo agrario guarda muchas similitudes entre países. Para ello, se utiliza la metodología Delphi, de consulta a expertos, de modo que a través de su opinión de grupo se podrán definir mejor los programas de actuación de planes de formación futuros tanto por parte de las propias cooperativas agrarias como por parte de los agentes, públicos o privados, con competencias en estas materias, y así favorecer un mayor desarrollo del sector cooperativo agrario. 112 120 38 2 ; Senia ; [EN] Agricultural cooperatives, like all other enterprises, operate in increasingly demanding markets, so it is necessary to know and promote the competitive factors that characterize them. The training of workers constitutes-one of these key competitive factors as it enables the establishment of major differences in the best development of the activity of these companies. This paper aims to analyze the requirements of training in Spanish agricultural marketing cooperatives, given their role as one of the Main drivers of development in the rural communities where they are located. However, results may be extrapolated to other realities in many cases; as similarities can be found in the diagnosis of agricultural cooperation across countries. The Delphi method, based on expert consultation, is used to achieve a better definition of the needs of the sector through group opinion, so that future training plans may be defined with greater success by agricultural cooperatives themselves as well as public and private agents with competence/authority/duties in this area and therefore foster a greater development in the agricultural cooperative sector. Results show the diverse areas in which training needs. are greater, specifying them for each of the groups that comprise the cooperatives (members, staff worker's, managers, etc). Globalization seems to have taken part of Europe by surprise: these countries have been tardy in appreciating some of its effects (notably that of scale) which have rendered previous geopolitical frameworks obsolete. If they are to overcome the effects of strategic surprise and the abstention which these arouse, they need to demonstrate more creativity, and be ready to seize their opportunities in a form of globalization which demands a real capability of waiting for the main chance, and a real predilection for action.

GLOBALIZATION HAS BEEN WIDELY USED TO REFER TO RECENT SHARP INCREASES IN LEVELS OF INTERNATIONAL ECONOMIC FLOWS. THIS ARTICLE ARGUES THAT CONCEPTIONS OF GLOBALIZATION UNDERLYING CURRENT DEBATES ARE INADEQUATE AND THEIR ANALYSIS OF EMPIRICAL EVIDENCE CONSEQUENTLY MISLEADING. INSTEAD, IT OUTLINES AN APPROACH TO GLOBALIZATION THAT PROVIDES AN ANALYTICAL BASIS FOR CONCEPTUALIZING QUALITATIVE CHANGE IN GLOBALIZATION AND DISTINGUISHING BETWEEN ITS HISTORICAL FORMS. IT PROVIDES A BASIC CONCEPTUAL APPARATUS AND USES THIS TO ANALYZE THE EVIDENCE FOR GLOBALIZATION IN THREE KEY ECONOMIC AREAS; TRADE, INTERNATIONAL FINANCE AND MULTINATIONAL PRODUCTION. IT CONCLUDES WITH SOME GENERAL OBSERVATIONS ON THE NATURE OF CONTEMPORARY ECONOMIC GLOBALIZATION AND ITS IMPLICATIONS FOR THE POWER OF NATION STATES.

This study aims to examine the impact of globalization on environmental performance by employing panel data for 148 countries from 2001 to 2018, via the indicator of Environmental Performance Index to capture the overall environmental quality and KOF index to measure the multi dimensions of globalization. The empirical results suggest that globalization is critical to environmental performance, which is reliable while we conduct several robustness tests. Furthermore, if globalization increases, it would be beneficial for the environmental performance; moreover, among specific dimensions of globalization, economic globalization, social globalization and political globalization would bring about better environmental performance. Besides, the improvement of globalization, social globalization and political globalization would bring about better environmental performance, while that of economic globalization cannot change the overall environmental performance. Our study offers more insight into the relationship between globalization and environmental performance.

THE PROBLEMS OF INTERRELATING THE GLOBALIZATION DEBATES WITH THE COMMUNITARIAN AND STAKEHOLDING DEBATES, ON THE ONE SIDE, AND WITH THE COSMOPOLITAN-COMMUNITARIAN DEBATE, ON THE OTHER, IS THAT EACH EMBRACES INTERNAL COMPLEXITIES THAT COMPOUND THE PROBLEMS OF RELATING THE ONE TO THE OTHER. THE INITIAL PROBLEMS CONCERN THE AMBIGUITY OF THE TERM GLOBALIZATION AND THE CONTESTED CHARACTER OF ITS CURRENT LEVEL AND DURABILITY. THIS ARTICLE DEFINES GLOBALIZATION AND EXPLORES THE COMMUNITARIAN AND STAKEHOLDING AGENDAS. IT CONCLUDES WITH A DISCUSSION ON GLOBALIZATION VERSUS COMMUNITY AND COMMUNITY VERSUS GLOBALIZATION.

At a time of rampant globalisation, large-scale operations are favoured over smallscale production in the main domains of the economy. This has political effects: domination by the big over the small is sought in both old and new ways; and cultural effects that influence from outside – such as Netflix, tourism and travel abroad – are intensified in the globally integrated information society. This in turn affects the media, language and self-identity, as well as being decisive for strategies in diplomacy, human security, planning and domestic politics. This article analyses the situation of the Seychelles in the 21st century: a small state, dependent on inputs from the outside world, and victim of a new form of colonialism. The country may still have potential to 'punch above its weight' and to hold its own, in spite of the disembedded, abstract economy of scale dominating this integrated, networked, accelerated, globalised world.
