Il testo vuole presentare il lavoro di Vanda, gruppo fondato alla Facoltà di Architettura del Politecnico di Milano da tre docenti e una ricercatrice. Vanda ha intrapreso la ricerca su "teorie e opere femminili in architettura" con un seminario dal titolo "Osare pensare la città femmina" e nel corso di un decennio (I990-2000) ha operato con studentesse e ricercatrici in molte tesi di laurea dentro l'Università e fuori, nelle amministrazioni comunali, con le politiche temporali. Nella storia dell'architettura, insegnata esclusivamente come storia dei grandi maestri, sono comparse le madri dell'architettura anglosassone di fine Ottocento, le "architettrici" del periodo fascista, le arredatrici e le futuriste degli anni trenta, e le figure delle grandi professioniste come Margarete Shutte Lihotsky o Charlotte Perriand. Si è ricostruita la storia dell'abitare femminile e sono stati affrontati temi di studio importanti: la cura e i tempi della città. Questi ultimi, dopo avere prodotto i nuovi P.R.O. per migliorare gli orari pubblici dei negozi, dei tram, delle scuole, hanno avuto una ricaduta spaziale in un sistema di piccoli accorgimenti architettonici chiamati microarchitetture del quotidiano. ; The text presents the work of Vanda, a group based in the Milan Polytechnic where it was founded by three professors and a researcher of the Faculty of Architecture. Vanda has been researching about "theories and women's work in architecture". The group started its activities with a seminar entitled "Dare to think the city female." During a decade (I990-2000) the team developed many research directions involving students and researchers, working also with local municipalities in time oriented policies.The history of architecture has long been taught only as great masters history. Only recently the historians highlighted the late nineteenth century work of the so-called Anglo-Saxon Mothers work of architecture. In this way new figures emerged like the "architettrici" of the fascist period, the decorators and the futurist in the thirties, up to the figures of the great professionals like Margarete Shutte Lihotsky or Charlotte Perriand.Vanda reconstructed the history of living according women point of view, and addressed important study topics as the care and time in the city. The latter, after producing the new Regulatory Plan of hours to improve public times of shops, tram, schools, relapsed space in a system of small architectural devices called the everyday micro-architecture.

The University of Camerino Botany Library was established in 1828 by Vincenzo Ottaviani, founder of the botanical gardens. The library collections have grown over the years thanks to the professors' passion for scientific research, and its history reflects the transformations occurred in the scientific and academic world, the political passions that would have led to revolutions in Europe and the institutional problems of a small Italian university with a rich and complex historical background. By analyzing the library's historical inventory and its collections' development we can catch a glimpse of the feverish scientific spirit of the time – a time of great innovations and knowledge exchange at an international level. ; La Biblioteca di botanica dell'Università di Camerino – nata nel 1828 per volontà di Vincenzo Ottaviani, fondatore dell'Orto botanico – ha visto crescere le sue collezioni coerentemente con gli interessi scientifici dei vari docenti, i mutamenti metodologici nella didattica e nella sperimentazione pratica, le passioni politiche che avrebbero portato alle rivoluzioni in Europa, e i problemi istituzionali di una piccola università italiana dalla storia secolare e complicata. L'analisi dell'inventario storico della Biblioteca, in cui compaiono alcuni testi fondamentali per le scienze naturali acquistati nel corso dell'Ottocento, ha permesso di ripercorrerne la storia e individuarne le linee di sviluppo, del tutto coerenti con le innovazioni scientifiche di quel secolo e con lo scambio internazionale di conoscenza proprio della cultura universitaria.

The article considers Julian Barnes' novel Arthur and George (2005) as an outstanding case study of the presence of justice and the law in contemporary neo-Victorian fiction. The novel is a biofiction on Arthur Conan Doyle's commitment to campaigning in favour of George Edalij, an unjustly imprisoned young solicitor of Parsee origins, in a legal case that led to the institution of the Court of Appeal in 1907. Arthur and George engages with some crucial tropes of the Victorian novel, notably the nexus between testimony, evidence, knowledge and truth, which sustains the thematic core of the novel, and the epistemological concern with knowledge and belief. The novel subtly addresses issues of national identity, cultural and political ethos and renews Barnes' concern with the indeterminacy of truth and the difficulty of ever knowing the past.

The essay describes how Living History, an activity of concrete evocation of past events in the present, linked to the daily actions of the historical period described, is intertwined with the approach of "material civilization" developed by Fernand Braudel and with micro-history described by Lucien Febvre and March Bloch in connection with the Annales methodology. The re-enactment, if it is built according to correct theoretical and methodological references, linked to historical documents, devoid of folklore, can represent a useful tool for building popular participation and knowledge about events and characters from the past.

The lack of suitable didactic material for the study of the Italian Culture and Civilization, as well as the interest that this knowledge has for the complete acquisition of the Italian language, which does not only imply the knowledge of linguistic and grammar resources, as the traditional language teaching system would have thought, has made us decide to develop a multimedia game. This computer game asks a series of questions which have different possible answers, and once the student answers, he gets visual and oral feeback on his answer, even if this answer is wrong. The items presented are of general knowledge (history, geography, politics, well known institutions, literature, arts, science, show business and traditions). Therefore, the player acquires a knowledge similar to the one average Italians have.

Questo contributo rappresenta una sintesi del lavoro di ricerca e patrimonializzazione realizzato in occasione del sessantesimo dalla fondazione dell'Ufficio nazionale minerario per gli idrocarburi e le georisorse (UNMIG) risalente al 1957. In particolare si è voluto evidenziare l'evoluzione istituzionale, tecnologica e il ruolo della cartografia mineraria nello sviluppo delle politiche del settore minerario italiano sulla terraferma e in mare, e presentare una proposta di classificazione. Inizialmente riferita alle materie prime non energetiche e curata dal Servizio Geologico fin dal 1867, la cartografia mineraria italiana si è poi sviluppata, con la nascita dell'UNMIG, in riferimento alle attività di ricerca e coltivazione di idrocarburi liquidi e gassosi e di risorse geotermiche. Si tratta di una cartografia tematica di tipo geo-economico, con forte valenza conoscitiva territoriale ed anche politica. Inoltre, grazie alla digitalizzazione e all'approccio open data ante litteram dell'UNMIG, rappresenta una fondamentale conoscenza per le decisioni geostrategiche, produttive e scientifiche italiane, nonché per la pianificazione territoriale e dello spazio marittimo e la conoscenza dei fenomeni statici e dinamici del sottosuolo. ; This paper represents a synthesis of the research and patrimonialisation work carried out on the occasion of the sixtieth anniversary of the foundation of the National Mining Office for Hydrocarbons and Georesources (UNMIG) dating back to 1957. In particular, it is highlighted the institutional and technological evolution and the role of mining cartography in the development of Italian mining policies on land and at sea. Initially related to non-energy raw materials and curated by the Geological Service since 1867, the Italian mining cartography has then developed, with the birth of the UNMIG, in reference to the exploration and production of hydrocarbons and geothermal resources. The result is a thematic geo-economic cartography, with strong territorial and political knowledge. Furthermore, thanks to the digitization and the open data ante litteram approach of the UNMIG, it represents a fundamental knowledge for the geostrategic, productive and scientific decision making processes in Italy. Moreover, it is important for the territorial and maritime spatial planning and the knowledge of the static and dynamic geological phenomena.

Lo studio prende in esame il contributo fornito da Roy Rosenzweig al dibattito sulla public history tra gli anni Ottanta e i primi anni Duemila, una fase in cui il mondo accademico e quello scolastico iniziavano a scoprire le opportunità e i rischi del digitale. Storico americano di formazione democratica e radicale, Rosenzweig fu tra i primi a riconoscere i vantaggi che il digitale può portare nell'ambito della conservazione documentaria e dell'apprendimento, ma anche nell'educazione alla ricerca storica grazie all'accesso diretto alle fonti. Il saggio mette tuttavia in luce anche i limiti del digitale precocemente individuati da Rosenzweig, quali l'assenza di contestualizzazione delle fonti online e di controlli qualitativi su di esse, nonché le restrizioni del copyright. Rosenzweig suggeriva, infatti, di valutare costi e benefici della nuova tecnologia e ciò che essa comporta dal punto di vista educativo e della ricerca storica, proponendo ai colleghi di impegnarsi per garantire una più ampia democratizzazione della conoscenza e una piena accessibilità delle fonti primarie e secondarie. ; The essay examines Roy Rosenzweig's contribution to the debate on public history from the 1980s to the early 2000s, a time in which academia and educational institutions began to get acquainted with opportunities and risks of digital data. Rosenzweig, an American historian with a democratic and radical background, was among the first to recognize the advantages of digital data management in the field of archiving and learning, and as far as historical research training is concerned thanks to the remote access to the sources. However, the article also discusses the limits of digital data, which Rosenzweig himself highlighted at an early stage, such as the possible lack of contextualization and of quality control of online historical sources, and copyright restrictions. Rosenzweig suggested assessing both costs and benefits of the new technologies and the outcomes from the point of view of education and historical research, recommending to historians a commitment to a widespread democratization of knowledge and to the full accessibility to primary and secondary sources.

[EN] The contribution integrates historical readings, conducted through archive documents and iconographic materials, with surveys and graphical analyzes carried out through direct knowledge of Palmariggi's historic center in Salento. The imposing Aragonese castle of which today only the two cylindrical towers remain, joined together by a stretch of perimeter masonry, initially presented a quadrangular plan with four corner towers, of which three are cylindrical and one is square and was surrounded by an existing moat, until the middle of the twentieth century, with a wooden drawbridge on the eastern side. The fortress was part of a strategic defensive system, designed to protect the village and the productive Otranto's land with which it was related. The fortified Palmeriggi's center represented an important defensive bulwark placed within the network of routes and agricultural activities that led from the hinterland to the port of Otranto, where flourishing trade took place. The research examines the changes undergone by the defensive structure that has had several adaptations made initially in relation to changing military requirements, resulting from the use of firearms, the upgrades that were supposed to curb the repeated looting and the military reprisals against the inhabited coastal and inland centers of Salento peninsula, and later social that led to the expansion of fortified village with Palazzo Vernazza's (eighteenth century) adjacent construction and the original parade ground's elimination. Summing up, the contribution in addition to documenting the current situation with integrated surveys, the state of preservation of fortified structure with its village, of which it examines the urban evolution based on the construction, typological and morphological systems, relates to the surrounding territory by comparing the plant of the ancient nucleus with that of neighboring fortified Salento's centers. Dottorato di ricerca in Storia d'Europa: società, politica e istituzioni (19.-20. secolo) ; L'unificazione politica e legislativa del Regno d'Italia coinvolse anche l'ordinamento giudiziario. La magistratura che dipendeva per le nomine e la carriera dal Governo centrale e in modo specifico dal Ministro della giustizia, venne inquadrata da subito come un ramo della pubblica amministrazione direttamente dipendente dal Re. La questione dell'indipendenza del potere giudiziario dall'esecutivo e quella dell'autonomia, intesa come sistema di autogoverno, furono i temi centrali del dibattito parlamentare. L'ordinamento giudiziario del 1865, infatti, concedeva ai giudici l'inamovibilità di grado ma non di sede e ai pretori soltanto dopo i tre anni di attività. Per limitare il potere dell'esecutivo fu costituita dal ministro Villa nel 1880 la Commissione consultiva per le nomine, promozioni e tramutamenti dei magistrati che però esprimeva dei meri pareri consultivi di cui il guardasigilli poteva anche non tener conto. Soltanto più tardi, nel 1907, con la legge n. 511 del ministro Orlando fu istituito il Consiglio Superiore della magistratura, un corpo consultivo permanente e parzialmente elettivo a cui vennero attribuite una serie di competenze relative alla nomina e alla carriera dei giudici. Anche il concorso pubblico, come unico mezzo per l'ingresso in magistratura, istituito da Zanardelli nel 1890 e negli anni rivisitato e modificato, venne considerato un mezzo per sottrarre il potere giudiziario al controllo governativo eliminando la nomina politica dei giudici. Zanardelli tentò anche di ridisegnare con la legge 30 marzo 1890, n. 6702 le circoscrizioni giudiziarie ereditate dal passato riducendo il numero delle preture per aumentare, con le risorse economiche ricavate, lo stipendio dei giudici ritenuto esiguo soprattutto nei primi anni della carriera. La sistemazione delle preture, di cui si occuparono anche Ronchetti e Orlando, incontrò sempre una forte opposizione locale più per ragioni di prestigio che di giustizia; il Governo affrontò la medesima resistenza anche per la costituzione della Corte di cassazione di Roma che si concluse soltanto nel 1923. Nel 1875 vennero istituite a Roma due sezioni penali con lo scopo di agevolare il lavoro delle altre quattro Corti regionali con sede a Torino, Milano, Napoli e Palermo. La Corte di Roma assunse la cognizione di tutti i giudizi penali e ridusse le Corti regionali a corti supreme di nome e non di fatto lasciando loro le sole competenze civili. Negli anni successivi si continuò ancora discutere circa l'unicità della Corte ed il ruolo che avrebbe dovuto assumere, se tribunale di terza istanza o tribunale garante della uniforme interpretazione della legge. Intanto si andò consolidando anche la struttura del Ministero della giustizia, al cui interno il guardasigilli, coadiuvato dal segretario, dal direttore generale e dal gabinetto trovavano spazio una serie di uffici ripartiti in divisioni, ai quali tra la fine dell'ottocento e l'inizio del novecento se ne aggiunsero dei nuovi tra cui la Commissione consultiva, l'ufficio legislativo, il casellario centrale. A questi venivano frequentemente destinati magistrati in qualità di applicati o in missione a svantaggio del personale di ruolo che costantemente veniva ridotto. ; The political and legislative unification of the Kingdom of Italy also involved the judiciary. The judiciary that depended on appointments and career from the central government and specifically by the Minister of Justice, was framed from the start as a branch of government directly employed by the King. The question of independence of the judiciary from the executive and that of autonomy, understood as a system of self-government, were the central themes of parliamentary debate. The judicial system in 1865, in fact, granted the tenure of judges but not able to seat and lower court judges only after three years of operation. To limit the power of government was established by the Minister Villa in 1880, the Advisory Commission on appointments, promotions and transmutation of judges. It expressed mere advisory opinions which the Keeper could not even take into account. Only later, in 1907, with Law No 511, the Minister Orlando instituted the Superior Council of Magistracy, a permanent and partially elected consultative body which was attributed a range of skills relating to the appointment and careers of judges. Even the competitive examination, as the only means for entry into the judiciary, established by Zanardelli in 1890 and revisited and amended over the years, was seen as a way to subtract the judiciary to government control by eliminating the political appointment of judges. Zanardelli also tried to reform with the Law of 30 March 1890, No 6702 the judicial districts by reducing the number of the Courts to increase, with the economic resources derived, the salaries of judges considered modest especially in the early years of his career. The Ministers Ronchetti and Orlando have addressed the issue of the Courts and this problem always met strong local opposition for reasons of prestige than of justice. The government has addressed the same resistance also for the establishment of the Court of Cassation in Rome that ended only in 1923. The two penal sections were established in Rome in 1875 with the aim of facilitating the work of four other regional courts in Turin, Milan, Naples and Palermo. The Court of Rome, assumed the full knowledge of all criminal trials, and reduced regional supreme courts in civil courts. In the following years the Parliament continued to discuss its uniqueness and the role that would take: court of third instance court or the guarantor of a uniform interpretation of the law. The Ministry of Justice consolidated its structure: there were the Minister, the secretary, the director and the cabinet. The offices were divided into departments. There were also the special offices: the legislative office, the Advisory Commission, and the criminal records bureau where the judges worked as applied to detriment of staff which was constantly being reduced.

The comparative discussion of the two volumes highlights their specific didactic approach and the historical contextualization of the sources thus offering new perspectives on the history of medieval political thought. The specific features of the two books are also underlined. Among them: the relevance of legal knowledge in the volume by Lambertini and Conetti, the centrality of Brunetto Latini and Tolomeo da Lucca in Briguglia's, the reapparaisal of the role of politi-cal aristotelianism, which is shared by the three scholars. Moreover, the volumes reconsider Quidort's conception of dominium, expressed in his De potestate regia, by comparing it to the textualiy that discussed the ownership and status of money in the 14th century. Secondly, this same concept of Quidort is compared to the discussion about the personal nature of property taxes elaborated by two jurists, Bérmond de Montferrier and Pierre Jame between the end of 13th and the mid-14th century. ; La discussione comparata dei due compendi valorizza in particolare l'impianto didattico e la contestualizzazione storica delle fonti che offre nuove prospettive conoscitive per la storia del pensiero politico medievale. Si segnalano le novità specifiche dei due testi. Tra di esse l'importanza del sapere giuridico nel volume di Lambertini - Conetti, la centralità di Brunetto Latini e di Tolomeo da Lucca in Briguglia, la ridiscussione del peso dell'aristotelismo politico in entrambi i volumi. Si propone inoltre una rilettura della concezione del dominium proposta nel De regia potestate di Quidort confrontandola con la testualità che discute della proprietà e dello statuto della moneta nel XIV secolo. Una secondo confronto viene proposto tra la posizione di Quidort e le discussioni sulla natura personale delle imposte patrimoniali elaborate dai giuristi Bérmond de Montferrier e Pierre Jame tra fine XIII e pieno XIV secolo.
